  • yum. just. . .yum.

  • Beautiful!

  • Piu, piu comme Van Johnson!

    ..Van Johnson?

Haha, I think these three manage to portray the Nacarelli family perfectly. Signor Nacarelli still has that strange tendency to emphasize the strangest parts of words, even when he speaks in Italian, which, ti me, is his defining characteristic.

    Well performed. ^-^

  • love the music. love aaron lazar. he was the perfect fabrizio. he and kate was adorable together on stage....

  • ...thats gotta be the WORST italian i've ever heard. and im not being harsh...robert denior learned how to speak sicilian for the godfather 2 in like...3 months and its sounds authentic...this is just ...sad

  • @mariaelisabella The budget for a Broadway musical is far less than the sequel to an Oscar winning movie, it's likely the producers spent their money on things more pertinent than the authenticity of the actors' Italian. Also, this is, for the most part, the second cast, with whom they would have had less time to perfect it they way the might have with the original cast.

  • i like it a lot but...why didn't they cast real italian people?

  • @savoirfaire90 Because it's BROADWAY musical. When they do it in italy, they will cast italians.

  • @ITCJon and so? what does it mean? it's a broadway musical about italian people. the final product credibility would have been way bigger with real italians. these actors lack of right pronunciation (morrison's version is hardly understandable!); real and natural accent and gestuality. don't get me wrong, they are all amazing artists, but i think the casting choice was wrong.

and do you think this show would make any sense in an italian adaptation? i don't think so...

  • Aaron Lazar blows this song out of the water! But I love Matt Morrison too, he was the reason I even bothered to figure out what "Light at the Piazza" was. Argh. Fine. They are BOTH great...

  • God how I love guys speaking/singing italian...

  • I adore him and Matt equally, I just think it's the pairings that were off. I think Aaron would sound a lot better with Kelli and Matt's voice is better suited to Katie's. Aaron and Kelli both have more 'operatic' voices and Matt and Katie both have more mainstream voices. All four are wonderful, I just think they need to be matched up differently.

  • @WildQueenie

yes... but then again, Aaron and Katie were so adorable together...

  • @WildQueenie

That might have been the point though--

because Katie is so...adorable and childish, it was a good contrast with Aaron, who is clearly portrayed (including through his voice) as a handsom, mature man.

:) thats just my take. I love both of them...well all four! Ah lovely each one of them is when they sing!

  • The Italian is much better than MM's, but the vocals are a matter of taste. Each one has something fantastic about it

  • Oh, how I wish Aaron Lazar were on the cast recording! Not that I want to think of it as a competition, but he blows MM out of the water. (One clear exception, though, is MM's "Love to Me," which is beautiful.)

  • Oh so right you are, down to the song.

  • Comment removed

  • message me privately for the recording with aaron :)

  • Not bad for a baritone (apparently).

  • Aaron Lazar, in my opinion, is impeccable in this role.

  • omg. i can never get tired of watching this.

  • SO much better than MM on the recording. MM's Italian is ATROCIOUS.

  • Haha, I know. I ADORE Matthew Morrison, but Aaron Lazar owns him by far.

  • Agreed. Matthew is wonderful (especially on the eyes), but Aaron feels sooo much more authentic. I think they both have their strengths, but I absolutely love Aaron's performance.

  • This show simply wasn't the same without Matt Morrison... Aaron is OK... but just OK to my taste.

  • Aaron seems to fit the show a lotta bit better!!

  • Terrific ride!

  • I liked David Burnham (sp?)

  • I saw David Burnham at Lincoln Center and thought he was marvelous!!!

  • Thank you so much for posting all of these,

especially this, I am so in love with this song<3!

  • why did evryone laugh at the begining when clara said "we'll come see you at your shop"?

  • Because it was funny how she poked him and then ran away. :)

  • It's "Mondo" but oh well :P

  • oooh, sorry, ill get right on that.

    thx for pointing it out

  • wonderful performance. Matthew Morrison was fine, not a great singer but Aaron really captured this since he has such vocal chops. Bravo!

  • That's very true. But I'll admit that I've never cared as much for composers wishes and stylistic integrity as I should when faced with a stylistically incorrect way of doing things that, imo, sounds better.

  • I'm with you. Aaron Lazar may not be an opera singer, however, he is definately my favourite Fabrizzo. Have you heard him sing ''Love to me''-? He rocks! Matthew Morrison may do well in other wells (God help him do so) but I just like Aaron better in this case. ^_^

  • I was just watching this and I really agree. I liked Matthew's voice very much, but Aaron rocked the role of Fabrizio. I think he should have been paired with Kelli O'Hara for the original Broadway cast.

  • In general, I prefer Matthew, especially in La Passegiata, but Aaron kicks his butt on this song. I do prefer Matthew's belted G# (or whatever it is), but Aaron absolutely owns this song, mainly because he's more passionate and seems more Italian, in my opinion.

  • I find that hilarious, personally. "Hey!" "Hi." *pokes* "...?" *Runs* XD

    Anyway, serious reason for posting:

I like Matthew Morrison, in fact I liked him better until I compared this song--Il Mondo Era Vuoto, as well as La Passeggiata, with Aaron and Matthew. Aaron not only sounds more Itlian, but his voice is very well controlled and he just sounds more like Fabrizzo to me. :/ Mat's probably great in other roles, but Aaron remains Fabrizzo to me, Noni.

  • I'm in love with this man

  • I agree is is great, but I think Matthew Morrison made and IS this role. He was just way too fantastic to compared, but Aaron does a decent job.

  • Up till now I was pretty sure I was gonna marry Josh Groban but Aaron puts him to shame so my marriage plans have totally changed LOL but in all seriousness OMG Aaron has the most AMAZING!!!!! voice

  • I saw him in the Les Mis revival. He was really good in that too.

  • its official. im in love with him.

  • Ah... a great tenor singing about his lover in Italian. It just never stops being romantic!

  • I hope my school puts on Light in the Piazza!! I wanna follow in Aaron Lazar's footsteps!! He is my idol

  • My God...he is PHENOMENAL.

  • Aaron Lazar is so cute! He is the best Fabrizzio

  • Aaron Lazar is fricken adorable.

    This is amazing. :)

  • He has such a great singing voice, and is an amazing actor. He is love to me!

  • Im glad i saw him in Les Miz!!

  • aaron lazar is great in this role....bestiful voice. the show is wonderful...why is not longer on broadway?

  • likely because its hard to market a musical on broadway that is preformed with multiple languages.

anyone know if they provided a english libretto for the show?

  • Do you mean subtitles? If so I'm pretty sure that they decided not to use them. For artistic reasons, I guess!

  • No they didn't. But you can get a translation if you bought a libretto at the theater or at like a Broadway store. I got one as a gift; it's nice to have if you're a big fan, but certainly not necessary to understand the show.

  • chris sarandon is GOD

  • I just saw Michael Berresse on Broadway in A Chorus Line. I knew I knew his face in this video! Crazy!

  • Aaron Lazar is god. Well if not, he's pretty darn close.

  • Wonderful song. Aaron Lazar is fantastic and so believable as Fabrizio. Awesome stuff. Thanks again for posting this!

  • Brilliant!
