Pretty, but there's not enough substance to sustain almost 5 minutes of the same hook, over and over again. She needs a dynamic bridge and an earth-shattering refrain, maybe even a modulation, to add some suspense/resolve, to merit anything longer than 2 and half minutes. But it makes a great chant for meditation and insomniacs...
@leananshae when I read the words "earth-shattering refrain" I automatically heard it said in the voice of Marvin the Martian ever expectant of his earth shattering kaboom. Seriously, though. Not every song has to be examined and tweaked as though it's an assignment for a music theory class. This song makes my heart hurt in the best way possible and if it were any different I doubt it would be as soul-crushingly stark and beautiful. It would feel truncated, unfinished. It's all taste, I guess.
There are many talented female singers out there but anyone looking for something totally original, enchanting, creative and simply beautiful, Ms. Sioux is where you should place your money. There is a very traditional sounding music surrounding her but her vocals are mystical & hypnotic. Four stars **** for sure.
Nice voice, melody and finger-picking... this could be a great song, but instead the repetitiveness of it makes it irritating and boring for me. lacks enough ideas for a nearly 5 minute song to sum it up.
