  • I want to buy this song

  • Came here after watching Dan's cover! I really like this song now! ^_^ good job!

  • Beautiful song!

It makes me think of my friend who intentionally jumped from the 9th floor of his dorm a few years ago. Everyone was in such disbelief. It will always be "unclear just what went wrong" for him, but I think he did it to gain a kind of freedom he could never obtain from here.

But I realize that this song was not written for or about a suicide.

    Thanks for the music!

  • Serendipity: (n) 1. an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident.

    Youtube seems to facilitate this...

  • I've been away from YouTube for a while after starting college and being overwhelmed with work. Jeez, I've missed watching your videos.

  • Finish this. Get it on iTunes. Make millions. Then make music video with random airshow teams flying around and some guy walking through the rain. (because no music video is complete without some guy walking through the rain.)

but in all seriousness this is amazing.

  • I love the lyrics. Especially the phrase "Shallow patch of Green". I may use it for my blog. :)

  • A recorded version of this would be so killer. Harmonies, lead riffs, etc. I hear it all in my head. Can't wait to hear this finished.

  • I love this song, I can't wait to be able to download it and listen to it all the time. :)

  • Love it! You're amazing! Like always

  • "They've all got their troubles, and I'm soaking in the blue" - favorite line!

I'm really excited to see what else you do with this song! Hope the rest of your tour with Frontalot goes fantastically!

  • I am obsessed with this song. Love love love it! Wish I could come see you live... Hopefully one day :)

  • LOVE the song. One suggestion, I'd go the octave higher on the last note you sing.

  • Another reason SF trumps Seattle. I had to leave before you were done and am not the type to get myself kicked out for flying onstage as if I'm drunk, so alas, I DID enjoy seeing your actual face playing an actual venue, but my hello is left as a post script a week later. I'll try to get some of my SF friends (some with kids-yay for all ages!) to wear themselves out at your show tomorrow. The beginning (1st For a moment-Then I thought) doesn't flow like the rest, but it may just need more layers.

  • Love this song! Nice one, Mike

  • I enjoyed this. -Taylor

  • Okay, I'm going to be totally honest. I really like the line "it's unclear what went wrong" and I really like the lyrics of verse, but I don't think the two fit together. It just seems like two great pieces stuck together. I don't know. Maybe I'm missing something.

  • I want to do a big annotation in Sharpie on someone's face.

  • I LOVE this song. A lot. This is going to be one that gets played on repeat.

  • I love it!

  • I'm so behind on the times with YOuTube right now. Finally starting to catch up.

I don't hear you playing guitar much :) Is it 'cause you think pianos don't get chicks?

SEe what I did there I'm a dork.

    Great song Mike :)

  • Wow, I'm such a good listener. I thought someone at a show you were playing tried to get into a helicopter and fell to his death. Nevermind, I rewatched the beginning.

But really, this is very good. :)

  • less talking more playing!

  • @MikeLombardoMusic Brenda Song is pregnant.

  • I really love the lyrics to this song. It's so great!!

  • I'm loving the song so far! You have such a great sound :)

  • I've been listening to it on repeat! :) Its beautiful... i love the lyrics!

  • hmm, this was just lovely! btw.. you should try and get in with MC Lars, I'm quite sure he is friends MC Frontalot. Just saying cause MC Lars comes to Australia every now and then. ...and then I can come see you play (with them) :P

  • Nice start, looking forward to hearing how you end it. Grats on the bunches of wonderful in your life lately, touring & hanging with your heroes!

  • Beautiful song :)

  • Wow, loved this!

  • Great song, Mike. :] See you on the 4th!

  • I really really love this song!!!

  • Beautiful as always... i like listening to you with the guitar :)

i enjoy that shirt because of the memories i associate with it... makes me smile :)

  • what is the tattoo on your arm of?

  • I admire you for being able to put yourself in other people's shoes so easily. It probably makes you a good person. :)

  • I love this song:) And your shirt. I had to pause the video to read it because I wasn't sure if it actually said that. But it did and I laughed.

  • I like the song! I'm not really sure why it should be, but it seemed counterintuitive to see you on guitar.

  • wonderful song its super ha bisky thx for the upload

  • I love this. xD

Its a perfect perspective of doing something potentially very dangerous and how you know that your taking a risk and well you rock.

  • I couldn't tell what felt wrong with this video, until you said "guitar".

  • wow... it might be because I want to be a pilot and i've always wanted to fly, but this gave me shivers. Thank you :)

  • This is my favorite song by you so far. I really really like it.

  • I love this!

  • Inspiring! You are great dude!

  • The way your lanyard is hanging it looks like your shirt says "I bought this shit on the internet."

    Great song! It's really pretty.

  • one person missed the like button

  • god, this is great. there's that just thing that i can't describe about your voice that is just awesome.

  • Mike, where'd you get your shirt?

Anyways, this is freaking awesome and I'm glad you posted it!

  • The verses sound like "Teach Me to Fly." I'm not really complaining, I was just wondering if you noticed:D

  • I love this song! You should definitely record it once you get it refined a little bit :)

  • I just listened to this 3 times.

  • I like

  • your concert is on my birthday!

  • MIKE. This is gorgeous. I love those moments of unintentional poignancy, and I'm glad you picked up on this one.

  • @shessomickey wait, who's pregnant?

  • It blows my mind how you can pick up any instrument and it sounds awesome. This song's great. I've been listening to the red cd in my car all the time :)

  • This is amazing, Mike! I love it!

  • Hey, did you buy that shirt on the internet?

  • @sarawesomeh maybe

  • @sarawesomeh No one likes a smartass. ;)

  • this song is so awesome! good job :D

  • I really really like the spirit in this song.

  • "A small town in the midwest..."

    That's MY small town!

I was a shocking accident, but not unusual, considering the outrageous stunt.

  • I love this song. It's interesting to hear when you work on guitar, the sound works for you and proves what a diverse performer you are.

  • this is strangley beautiful

  • You're one of those people I just want to go out for hot chocolates with and have a nice chat. I always feel like we could be friends because someone who writes nerdy songs and songs about sad news stories just seems like kind of person I'd get along with.

  • that guitar has such a rich tone

  • beautiful mike. You are so talented. I can't wait to be able to this. Also, next time you talk to hayley, tell her she needs to update the blog she hasen't posted in in about three weeks. Amazing song! Hope you are having fun on tour!

  • This is a lovely start to a new song can't wait to see how it comes out. By the way I'm going to the Santa Cruz Show.

  • i love this and i love you.

  • Sighh... no one ever plays where I live. This is unfortunate.

  • I love your piano work but hearing a new one with a guitar is very cool.

  • The chords remind me of falling...

  • I like it when you play music. It's pretty.

  • Yes! I like it a lot. Can't wait to hear it when it's done because it's pretty fantastic already!

  • your shirt looks like it says i bought this sh*t on the internet when you strum XD

  • how u so good at, leik, errythang?

  • Hi Mike, I like the new song! Glad to see you are well.

  • Your voice sounds really nice with the guitar. :)

  • At first I thought something was a little different..and it was the guitar! And although the instrument does not define the song, the song sounded rather nice on guitar. I like you sharing your sort of rough cuts of songs with us, Mike!

  • I know you don't like it when people say that they 'love' you, so I'm thinking of a new way of expressing myself. I seriously enjoy this song, and I hope I get to see you perform again sometime soon. Come back to FL soon? :D

  • Did anyone else sense how odd it was for MiLo to be playing guitar and not piano?

  • This song needs to find a home on my iPod. Soon.

  • You remind me so much of Jonathan Coulton.

  • @sfgvrich I've been hanging out with him all weekend!

  • @MikeLombardoMusic Seriously!?!?!?! That's like the coolest thing ever! Jonathan Coulton is one of my favorite musicians of all time.

  • I <3 you

  • How long will you be in WA??

  • @kayleejorene We're playing a show on Monday, come!

  • @MikeLombardoMusic Shoot me a link... I have to work, but I should be done by show time :)

  • @kayleejorene check the frontalot website

  • When will that be on iTunes? ;-) That was really good, Mike. I can't wait to hear when you have it finished to your personal liking. :-)

  • @QueenMonkeyGirl It may or may not be on a new EP this winter. Haven't decided yet.

  • @MikeLombardoMusic i think it should be. this is fantastic.

  • Love it!!! Not to get all touchy-feely, but the message in this song really spoke to me. Great job Mike.

  • This song is wonderful.

  • That was great.

  • this sounds awesome.

  • I love it, so good. And where did you get your shirt? it is really cool.

  • @msdoodledoctor uhhhhh I don't remember. Sorry :(

  • @MikeLombardoMusic its cool, are you going to be doing a blogtv show tomorrow?

  • @msdoodledoctor I can't, I'm at PAX all weekend!

  • I love it!

  • Listening to this song on repeat is mildly softening the insanity that is my rushing to get my AP work done by tomorrow night.

    Mmm, it is so preeeeeeetty.

    (the song...not...not the AP.)

  • It sounds good. It's great how you can take something like that and turn it into something better, just be having a positive attitude and outlook.

  • I didn't even know you played guitar. I don't know how you do it all, but I admire you greatly for it. I can't wait to hear more with this song!

  • uhmm... not to totally go away from the video, but what happened to your eye?

  • Loved the song but WHY DOES NOBODY TOUR TO VIRGINIA!!??

  • you never fail to surprise me. loved the song. : )

  • GOD YOU'RE SO AWESOME!!

  • I love that, even while on tour, you still find time to let us sneak a peak at what your working on <3

  • Wow. I bet that man would be proud to have this song written about him.

  • This is a damn good song.

  • nice job. Like the guitar change up.

  • Ahhhhh song gasm

  • Beautiful song about a tragic event. Great work Mike

  • THIS is the Mike Lombardo that I love and miss...just a man with his instrument

  • Really dug this song. Very interested to hear the final version whenever it is finished. Also, I'm pretty sure I've staid in whatever hotel you are in. That, or hotels all look the same. :)

  • Love the song, great job!

  • I wish I could see you in Philly but I'm not allowed to go.

  • @redvinenerd Why not? Can I call your parents or something?

  • @MikeLombardoMusic Mike, because of that comment, you are officially my new favorite person.

  • Love the song so far!

  • i find it cool and kind of sweet that something inspired you to wright a song there is nothing that has inspired me to do/write anything

  • your music is so beautiful. it stops me in my tracks every single time. I love to just sit, listen and imagine. You always deliver i guess you could say xD I can't wait to hear the finale version on a cd =)

  • Really liked the song. Terrible what happened, but yeah i'm sure he knew full well that it was something that wasn't unlikely. My sister, Luciana, is currently living in Philly, so I told her about your show, she goes to the Milkboy all the time.

    -Julian

  • Is that a tree tattoo on your right forearm?

  • Love the song! Thanks for sharing this raw version. :)

  • awesome song! remember last time you posted an unfinished song and then you had to keep it that way because everyone loved it so much? hmm.

  • This is really beautiful.

  • Love the song!

  • awwww sad story! you played amazing! and i love the song!!!!!! all of your songs!

  • I really liked that. well done!

  • this is great! :)

  • That's an awesome song! I liked it a lot.

  • good song! did not know you played guitar, but it sounds good :)

  • That was really good! I think you should leave it on guitar, but either would sound good!

  • Mike Lombardo without a hat and without a piano? Mind blown. Great song in progress. Can't wait to hear the final version on piano.

  • Your music always has such an effect on me and makes me see things though a different light. You're right most of us would think the guy was crazy but to have a passion for something is to get lost in it, you touched on that and i thought it rocked! You really are an inspiration Mike, to me and a lot of people so stay cool and DFTBA!

  • Holy crap you blow my mind. Every time. :D

  • wow. just wow. (what chords did you use?)

  • This is my favorite song of yours Mike. Everybody hates being compared to someone else, but this reminds me of all the things I like about Jonathan Coulton's music or even a bit of Paul and Storm, but more than that it is quintessential Mike Lombardo.

  • Awesome idea!

I really like the song too. Really really like it!

    Great job.

  • I don't think it's possible for me to dislike any of your songs.

  • Excellent song, Mike! I can't wait to hear how it progresses. :)

  • I saw you holding the guitar and my mind immediately started playing "Piano Don't Get Chicks"

  • That was absolutely beautfiul. I love this song.

  • This is a beautiful song. Which I listened to while listening to an airshow flying over my campus. Intense emotion ensued.

  • great song mike!

  • I loved this new song! Its very you.

Sad I can't make the Philly show with you and Megan. Sure you guys don't want to play in DC?

  • I dig the song. Can't wait to see how it pans out after development.

  • I love seeing how you process the world around you and turn it into awesome and unique music... Can't wait to hear what this turns into!

  • Oh my gosh, I'm so torn - I don't know whether to see you on the 15th, with Meghan Tonjes and Mike Falzone, at Milkboy where I saw you on July 9th, OR to go see Luke Conard, Alex Goot, and Tiffany Alvord in Allentown on the next night. DECISIONS, DECISIONS.

I would go to both but I can't drive.

    - Elsa

  • @theermyohnee go to both anyways

  • @theermyohnee meeeeeee I'm recording it and releasing a live album

  • @MikeLombardoMusic I think just for that comment I have to go to see you. I mean, the last time Luke replied to one of my comments was... Oh wait, he never did... Mike, I'm yours!

  • youre piano looks funny...

  • I've been playing guitar for three years and you're still better than me, hahaha. Love this song, your music, and just your overall personality. Keep it up! :)

  • Alright, my thoughts: I really like the song. I like the idea behind the name, but I don't like the name. In the song, as lyrics, it's good, but as I title it's not my favorite. The only other thing about it is the line "and i'm soaking in the blue" (it says it different in the downbar). I don't know, it doesn't sound right to me. But besides that, It's really really good. I'm wondering how it's gonna sound on the piano (if you decide to do that). .... :D -M

  • That's amazing! I reeeeeally loved that.

  • your voice is great, you have great playing skills (on all of the instruments u play), your lyrics are fantastic, you composition is awesome, and your even really attractive you come in the whole package i advertise for you here in canada! your so amazxing

  • mike you just are beautiful musically in everyway! i love you and your music so much i just wish u don`t have to go through what ur going through now and i buy all your music, is their anyway we as your supporting fans could give you more money, cuz not all the money goes to you when we purchase you music what``s the best way! because of you i am actually recording my first song and i wrote a song for you which i want to release soon on the piano! i love you and this new song! you are inspiring!

  • Your voice accompanied by guitar reminds me of 90s radio alternative. Like...the Gin Blossoms or Better Than Ezra. But not in a sound-alike way. I don't know, I really love it. You should release a guitar album. You should get T-Bone Burnett to produce you. I can imagine it now, oh man.

  • The guitar really works with this one. It's simple. It sounds pretty good in it's current state. I would say maybe add a little bit to the hook - which otherwise has the potential of being classic Lombardo. And also maybe defining the bridge a little bit more from the rest of the song.Really reminds me of oldschool singer-songwriter/Al Stewart-esque-type song. It's different from your other piano driven ballads or rockers - really laid back and almost folksy, which I realy like. Nice work.

  • I bet he made an impact on a lot of the people who saw his show.

Ok...bad joke. I do feel for the guy & his family, but I guess with a job like that you accept the possibility that this could happen.

  • Loved the song! For the final version, are you going to keep it on guitar, or transition it onto piano?

  • @booknerdizzy The instrument should not define the song.

  • @MikeLombardoMusic I disagree, but that is a conversation for another time. I just wanted you to know that I would like this song on piano. :D

  • @MikeLombardoMusic actually, it kinda does. A different instrument changes the entire song.
