@huttisau...remember, Bono has been singing constantly for 25 years longer than Nilsen. The voice is an instrument that wears out over time. Bono in his prime was FAR better because you have to take into account his WRITING. Kurt's a great singer and I TOTALLY dig his voice....but he can only be compared to Bono when he has written 20+ top 40 hits and an album like Joshua Tree, which stands the test of time as one of the top albums in history. 3 decades and still making hits...Bono rocks.

He has written songs either for, or with, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash, Keith Richards, Luciano Pavarotti, Sinéad O'Connor, and Howie B. among several others.  Not to mention penning lyrics on every U2 album to date. I'd hardly call that "terrible".

Plus, if you have never heard the original and just listened to this version and your opinion wasn't influenced by the original, you'd see that he's actually really good and you're just being stubborn. @deepfred57 fyi Kurt has been writing his own material fore many years. This was on Idol and therefore he had to sing mainly covers. In the final he actually sang 1 of his own songs and majority of material on his 1st 4 solo albums were with self written material. Try listening to Never Easy, Rise To The Occasion, and his new song The Messenger. English is not Kurt's mother tongue either. I'm not dissing Bono, just stating some facts.

@BigDinthemix he's awesome no doubt. but u2 ashamed?..immitation is the greatest form of flattery my friend. Bono's voice has been supporting fantastic venues for over 3 DECADES.....that's over 800 shows.....with 20-23 song sets. Has this guy written any original music? I'll make sure to keep an eye out for him on tour.... so all i can hear him sing are COVERS.....please spare me

@hanzipils i personally dont think bono is that good of a singer live but hes ok i suppose ive never really toke the time to experience u2 but although u2 have produced unique and amazing songs their is no doubt that kurt nilsen is better from a vocal standpoint? but u2 are entertaining and satisfy the world :) check out never easy and my street kurt nilsen wrote them:D not wanting to argue and maybe my comment was portrayed wrongly:D

@BigDinthemix You know what- I was *kind of* a dick, and you have every right to call me out on it. Sorry for that. Music is completely subjective- what is great for some is terrible to others. I don't like starting arguments in forums like this- even when people disagree I think there's still a way to be cool with each other. For me, U2 is the greatest *band* ever. And Kurt Nilsen is *one* of the greatest vocalists ever. But that's my opinion. Others might feel differently.
