Blackpool is pretty much deserted nowadays. it's been left to fall apart and now it's a shithole. It needs huge renovations. they should turn it into Europes answer to Vegas/LA and build some some casinos, huge 5* hotels, update and improve the rides their and maybe build a British walk of fame. If they did all this their then it would soon fill with people again. people will moan that ti wont be a seaside resort type thing anymore but thats what we have brighton for and its alot nicer

@jake27990 erm ive been to brighton - its full of sad old world shops. Blackpool is disgusting in some places, but they have renovated A LOT since u've been - thats obvious. Oh, and which seaside resort is most visited in england? Hmm, NOT BRIGHTON - BLACKPOOL! so youreplace is obviously a shit hole and if it is true that blackpool is disgusting to people, then why do they still prefer it to brighton? @ames184 Well whats in Blackppol? A few low rent arcades and not much else. Brighton has a nicer beach, pier, nightlife, cafe's and shops. Kepp that as a quiet, pleasant beach resort and turn Blackpool in The UK's Atlantic city. It makes perfect sense. the only reason Blackpool still gets visitors is cause the whole of the north, wales and scotland go there as its closer and the ballroom championships are held there worldwide every year. The Uk is tiny, it doesn't need 2 of this kind of town

@ames184 I agree with you totally, and I live in Brighton. Brighton is expensive and there's naff all to do here. Jobs are few and far between, and the ones that do become available usually get snapped up by the thousands of foreigners that come here every week. Another thing I've noticed whenever I've been to Blackpool, people seem friendlier than people in Brighton. I want to move to Blackpool. One thing though, we have better weather here.

i went last week and its all being done up

the front is having a 20 million pound facelift then the tower then the rest will follow, but it has just been left to rot....

the arcades are no where near as good as the 90s .....it was a booming place back then , the good old pricebusters, funland, the old plesure beach was booming with people, i hope they can make it work

If things were done better in the town it would be marvellous. I first visited with my family 25yrs ago, as my daughter said on arrival it's magical, a fairyland I love it. Families had a great time on the beach, shopping, going on rides and the entertainment was second to...well. There was something for everyone, how the darling place can be left to rot? All the modernisation is not improving the town it's removing all it's character and basis. Restore all the lovely old decaying buildings.

Went to Blackpool last week and was surprised to see how very run down and tired it was. Must have been lovely once. Everywhere needs a coat of paint and some TLC however the beach is beautiful!

Blackpool is brill place. Been going there since i was young and twice a year with my own family. My little boy loves the lights!!. great place for families so much to see and do and we have a great hotel we alwys stay at, have done the last 4 years :)

i guess it was 1999 when i went to blackpool, i remember sleeping in the back of the car right in front of the beach. There was a pub near pleasure beach, it was the home of members of the royal air force who were stationed in poland during ww2, does anyone know the name of that pub? was great fun there!!!!
