aaaaahahahaaahahhahaaa! LMFAO!! OMG>>> I'm crying in laughter!! I don't think they thought about dential bills back then! She's AMAZING from that era, even if it was today!
Hello good day. I was looking for an address to get in touch with the head of this video, as the company I work for need to use some videos posted by you. So I ask a favor if you have any email address that I can afford to get in touch with the manager and explain the use of these.
Nope - this is not an Edison Film! It was W. K. L. Dickson or one of his employees that filmed this one. Dickson worked at the Thomas Edison laboratory. Dickson left the Edison in 1895, to form the first ever company that solely focused on the production of moving pictures (American Mutoscope & Biograph Company). Biograph became the chief competitor to Edison and in 1896; and showed the first projected images from an American film company to the first American movie theater audience.
Too bad they didn't have YouTUbe in th 1900's!

Heavy spanish colonial influence in the dress. Cuban thing too. Best to watch while being shot out of a cannon.

Wish I could balance a chair with my teeth =)

Wow, that explains so much about why Belly Dance got the reputation it has in the West.

hmm... that was interesting..I am not trying to be disrepectful but maybe she was on drugs. Those vaudeville acts were famous for abuse.

Someone gave your original comment a "thumbs down" rating so I wanted to explain the term for whoever mistakenly thought it was something bad.

Yes, because in 1904 you could drive your Honda down to the Walmart and buy all your plasticware. everything was made from plastic in those times.

The chair thing is hilarious. Love it!

What if the chair accidentally flew out of her mouth and hit into the camera knocking it over : )
GearRocks 4 years ago
She was lovely for her time. Until she used the chair as prop (look ma, no dentures).
egyptianmystery 4 years ago
amazing and it doesn't look that different from bellydancing today, although today's costumes are much more flattering.
holding a chair in the teeth though - not a prop I'll be learning!

I believe this video to be one of Thomas Edison's, right?
That chair bit was a bit unexpected, though. I have to say I laughed when I saw it. It was almost a visual non sequitur.

gamata
paranoicb 4 years ago
"Gamata" is a slang word for "very beautiful", "outstanding", "fantastic".
In Greek it is used in a very positive manner (although it derives from a swear word!!).
It is usually used by the hotblooded youth and to some people might sound strange.
