Your just embracing this yuppie/hipster invasion. We actual native brooklyn people have more than enough culture in our neighborhoods. We don't need more piece of shit "Art" hipsters like to make. Hipsters are ruining Brooklyn.
growing up on bedford ave in the 50 and 60's was the greatest place to grow up in the world...close knit...knew everyone from birth...great memories of bedford ave,,,
All you fucking yuppies. Get the Fuck out of Brooklyn!!! Seriously, i bet you all think its cool living in Brooklyn and thinking your a real New Yorker. Your fucking wrong.
@pauliefrom91 skinny jeans??? LOL yeah right. I work in Williamsburg and all the rich yuppies that live there look at me like im homeless just because I don't have on the latest fashion designer crap that cost $1 to make in some sweatshop in some third world country. Despite what you think, you might have a lot more in common with Williamsburg people than you think. They're spoiled rich white right wing pricks just like you.
if you don't like being out after the sun goes down, don't go to williamsburg. first, someone asks you what time it is, next thing you know you wake up in a hospital
their supposed sub-culture sense of being is just regurgitated fads of the past 40 years. Be something new you american apparel, fixed-gear bike riding zombies. Hipsters are the opposite of originality and authenticity.
I completley agree with you except you cant deny they are improving the neighborhood by fixing buldings opening rest. and shops and ive already seen two movies made there, one is filming right now. and there are alot of good looking women walking around, models actresses probably.
the neighborhood has gotten better since when i moved into the neighborhood in 92', but much of the old school feel is gone. the new buildings they are putting up look ridiculous next to the row frames, browstones, and private dwellings. tons of phonies living the area now.
Williamsburg (at least the Bedford Avenue part) is an over-priced, gentrified, poser-infested suburb. It looks like Pittsburg painted in psychadelic colors. There are parts where you'll have a space-age glass condo building surrounded by auto repair shops. And worse, the apartments are all unrented because they're charging too much.
I used to see people on the L carrying white plastic bags with "S & M Women's and Children's Fashions" and I vowed to go there and get some bags but never got around to it. I miss the food (Bamonte's, S. Cono-the restaurant and the pizza place, Teddy's, Mug's, Planet Thailand, etc.) and the Brooklyn Brewery. There's a lot to recommend in W'burg
I was born and raise in Williamsburg Brooklyn (Lindsay Project). I'm now living in Chicago and miss Williamsburg greatly. Everytime I go there, I have to visit Graham Ave (and shop at Fat Albert). I have great childhood memories there (P.S.250 & I.S.318). I love Williamsburg.
This is more of the North Side of Williamsburgh, this travelogue is incomplete. Hopefully the South side and parts of Grand Street to Bushwich is filmed in the future... Great footage.
thanks for your comment - actually, the WAH Center (which was on the corner of Broadway & Bedford - it's now closed/been sold I believe), the Brooklyn Reliquary (at the time located at Grand and Havemeyer - they've moved to new diggs at 370 Metropolitan Ave) and a few of our other shooting locations were on the 'Southside', though I agree we could've shown even more - I would've liked to get inside the Commodore Theater (now being demolished) at Rodney & Broadway...
Just to let you know, the WAH Center was only closed for some construction. It is opening in September with a big (150 artist) photography show. Love your video!

Everything's getting invaded. The Village is now dominated by rich pricks & Williamsburg is dominated by hipsters.
