too bad real selled sneijder because now they have to see how he will play for mancity in 2 years and will be the boss on the midfield against real and he will take revenge
nice to see that it wasn't a totally boring night for these 2 great guys
although, Sneijder should've been at least in the top 3.. hell, he shoulda won the Golden Ball... treble, Champions league, WC Final... 2010 was his year. Messi disappointed Argentina, did not win the Champions league, only won La Liga.
hopefully CR7 gets to be in the top 3 this year, for setting a historical record for La Liga... but its a tall order for FIFA/UEFA to be fair to anyone who is not Barca
@ghossler no i don't think that at all. Argentina is strong(Higuain, Tevez, Zanetti, Messi etc) but were not cohesive vs. big teams. Thats reality. But everything was basically swamped by 24/7 media hype over Messi and Maradona before and during the WC. It didnt help either that pundits and managers kept claiming that Messi "is the greatest player of all time."
Messi is a great player, but ppl should think before making sweeping statements. After all, he is only 23, he still has a lot to prove.
@kronos251 well based on ur first comment it seemed u meant that, but true.. there are others in argentine that are good, but all round teams are always hard to beat. And messi is a very good player... and he has proven himself almost everytime to be the a key player in barca, but playing in argentine is different obviously, cause in barca you have xavi, iniesta to back him up. The media blew everything up with words like maradonna + messi = win and stuff like that.. cause its called media..
@ghossler yeah i should've explained it more in my 1st comment, but this 500-letter limit sux... and I was really focusing on Sneijder, cuz basically he deserved it. 2009-2010 was his year, he basically won every title, the Treble for his club, even got on to the World Cup Final. he was the engine of the Netherlands. on the other hand, Messi only won La Liga title 2009-2010. So I just found it unfair. I mean, it would've made more sense if Xavi or Iniesta got the golden ball cuz they won the WC.

I mean.. basicly u cant really compare them, but if u do.. messi is so good on so many areas and sneijder aswell but not so divers on areas. Like what messi did last time CL vs ac milan, i mean that is world skill and only messi could of pulled it off

@ghossler True that. Messi is fantastic, but I disagree with whole Ballon d'Or premise anyway. How can you compare a forward to a defender or goal keeper? Of course the strikers will get more credit because they score the goals and are therefore most visible, but goal keepers have a huge impact, as do defenders.
