I saw him in two productions at USC -- The Crucible and Carousel and I fell in love with him in both, despite the fact that both his characters were jerks. haha. He's great!
Consider aside from the brilliance of the song, how wonderful a performance this is. Listening to him sing, and watching him - you can feel the excitment of an innocent child mixed with an appreciation of the wonder in a man's life. He is connecting to the song and singing from the heart. That is what makes this so good.
I just sang this song with the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus in our spring show. I had never heard the song before we did it, but I found it to be one of the most beautiful songs I'd ever heard. That, coupled with the sentiment of the song (which strikes very close to my heart) really hit me hard. It was hard to sing, let me tell you! Plus our director did an absolutely gorgeous arrangement of the tune. I think Mr. Carnelia would love it, as it was very close to Michael McLean's interpretation.
Michael, when I saw you perform the lead in the production of Oklahoma at Ensign Intermediate School, I initially thought that you were lip syncing because it was so good. How could an 8th grade boy have such a wonderful voice? I was blown away then and I am blown away now. What are you up to now?
wow.... i love your interpretation of this piece. It's one of my favorite pieces of Craig's next to flight. Craig would love this... you should send him this vid! Great job :-D
good work on this song, you sang it well while also staying true to the honesty of the piece. Watch the descent tho from the A flat down. I did this piece for college auditions and know that craig carnelia would be proud of your work on this song! keep it up and post more...
What is he doing now?
