Wow. This is absolutely amazing. And I have your voice drifting in my head. It's a stunning feeling and I never want it to end. You probably don't reply or see comments on videos so long ago, but I hope you know how truly talented you are.
Wonder where you've gone since you've posted this...I hope you have moved toward crossing into folk. It finally dawned on me what it is that gets us all about your rendition in particular...you sing like Stan Rogers!
@KiantheBard I've sort of moved /out/ of folk. I still enjoy playing the odd Folk Rock tune, but I was into folk a lot when I was younger, and at the moment I'm sort of rediscovering my pop/punk roots - musically at least. I've had two releases since this video was posted, one of which was quite folky, but not in any way traditional, and the other of which was just generally alternative, but quite eclectic! Check out my channel :]
God Almighty, boy-o. I've been singing this for a week since I heard it at a session in Galway on my honeymoon (so that I can sing it at a session in Seattle yes, sad I know, better than nothing though). You know it takes about 12-20 times before you can sing it w/out crying, well, this made me cry all over again. You. Are. Fekking. Astounding. I hope to God you've gone on in music and done great things. You've got it, son, you truly do. Thank you for sharing with the world.
Wow! This is beautiful! Reminds me of the Scottish a Capella protest songs (when bagpipes were illegalized, bec. of their association w/ protest songs)
I have heard many versions of this song, not one of them better than yours. One of my favorites, I can never sing it through without starting to cry. Beautifully done!

I only wish I discovered you earlier.

I was just running through some old folk songbooks I used to use on the local folk scene.
This is undoubtedly one of the best renditions I have EVER heard, after years frequenting the scene.
Very, very well sung, young man.
Very best wishes.
