Why not use a single wire resistor for all LEDs (on the common or two on the positive of each group)?

I had about 167 LED's 1 word blue other yellow/orange colour and each LED had a 12v resistor 2 reduce current 2 each led from BLOWING UP.

Hey Kip Kay, i made my LED Sign and added 12v Resistors to each led, and i made this 9v kit 555 timer chip style circuit added 2 sign, and all THE SIGN LED'S Brightness went lower, not as BRIGHT AS B4? WHY ??? PLEASE HELP ME REPLY BACK ASAP THANKS !

@GenuineMW2 But i tried the sign by its self to a 12v Transformer, and all LED'S had 470 ohm 12v resistor to each LED, and lit up nicely bright good. but when circuit added made all led's brightness go weak down? PLEASE REPLY BACK ASAP THANKS!
