If in the event they find him guilty, i believe there is a law about profiting from your crime in any way - proceeds go back to the state or the party you offended against, may vary from state to state, country to country but i think it is fairly universal.
They're not telling the whole story. The customer got out of their seat WHILE the plane was still moving, and when asked to sit down she ignored him, then called him a motherfucker after hitting him in the head with her bag. He also only cussed out her, not the entire plane.

Anyway this 9 year old started Vomitting like crazy when we were landing and as we landed we were going slowly people had rang the bells nobody came so the mom was like anyone have any papertowels. So i had some handiwipes in laptop bag reached to get and we were at gate. They can be mean.

The guy should be assessed a fine for "tampering with" the emergency escape chute and be made to cover the cost of replacing or repacking (or whatever) the escape chute. Naturally, he will also be fired if he has not already.
That should be more than sufficient. Did this really require the involvement of the NYC Police Commissioner and the filing of "reckless endangerment" charges?

I understand what it is like to be abused by a customer, however he shouldn't have deployed the exit chute. WHERE WAS THE PILOT WHILE SLATER WAS BEING ABUSED? Why didn't the pilot have the passenger removed when she became hostile, and purposely hit Slater on the head? That is assault. That is automatically a federal offense. I've travelled on commercial airliners, and I am sick and tired of seeing hardworking, decent flight attendants abused by passengers.

I kind of feel sorry for this guy. We've all seen rude passengers or flight attendants with no cojones to speak up against a rude/drunk/stupid passenger.
Americans, english, canadians, dutch, french, german, you name it. I've encountered rude air passengers from a myriad of countries throughout my travels. They usually resort to the "I can't speak your language at the moment" attitude and ignore people or attendents asking them to please be quiet.

My flight was being served by an obviously gay flight attendant, who seemed to put everyone in a good mood as he served us food and drinks. As the plane prepared to descend, he came swishing down the aisle and said....

Yeah one time i was on flight and I hate sitting by kids they always just busy being kids. Getting up every 5 minutes, Singing, Crying, Wasting junk, Peeing on themselves. You name it. Anyway this 9 year old started Vomitting like crazy when we were landing and as we landed we were going slowly people had rang the bells nobody came so the mom was like anyone have any papertowels. So i had some handiwipes in laptop bag reached to get and we were at gate. They can be mean.

So he got sick of his job and left. So what? Now he's in custody? WTF? They should have just let him go.
