@jamesrocks4eva Although a Skyclad admirer I have to disagree with all saying the folk metal came from Skyclad. There is a Romanian band called Phoenix founded about 40 years ago and played what could really be classified as what Skyclad displays today. The funny thing is that they have the same pterodon logo as Skyclad (who knows who borrowed from whom). If there-s something Skyclad stands for is for their rage in their thrash
It's like WoW 's Warsong Gulch history, a perfect match :
"Warsong Gulch is a battleground nestled in the southern region of Ashenvale forest. It is located near the area where Grom Hellscream and his Orcs chopped away huge swaths of forest during the Third War.
The Night elves, who have begun a massive push to retake the forests, are now focusing their attention on ridding their land of the Horde Outriders once and for all."
I downloaded this album among other Skyclad albums a year or so ago and listened to one of their songs and then forgot about them. This song came on random a week ago and now I'm a Skyclad fan.
My favourites were always Wayward Sons and Jonahs Ark, but this is just as good for sure. Some nice Jethro Tull like parts in this track. Either way this band deserves far more respect and attention.
You know what's funny mate? Skyclad have a solid fanbase all over Europe (Especially in my country I'd say) but in England they are virtually unknown. Even in Newcastle! I was a student in the U.K. for 7 years and I got blank stares every time I mentioned them to Brit metalheads. Funny...
Greetings from Greece! Have you heard that according to some theories Greeks and Celts maybe (Very distantly) related?
Well a Greek named Hectaeus was said to have coined the name Keltoí which he apparently got from a word the celts used meaning "hidden people" and they are known to have roots in places as far from Ireland/Scotland etc as Turkey so who knows? Yeah, I know, I've met a lot of brit metal fans at gigs who had no idea about Skyclad. Even when they started it seemed to be places like Greece or Germany rather than Britain that picked up on them. I loved Sabbat & Satan so I knew they would be great!
Great. First song I heard by Skyclad, about 5 or 6 years ago. After that, I did not hear it again, yet somehow, through the years, the riff has constantly popped back into my head and I'll find myself humming to the tune, thinking MAN I have got to figure out what song is stuck in my head... so here I am, reintroduced. Thank you!
I want to play Skyrim right now and hit an elf with my warhammer...

Why is Skyclads 1st album so brillant and every one since is terrible ? so much potential wasted on this drivel
Perbrill 2 years ago
Ehh dude?
What was soo brilliant about their first album?
It was just thrash! Good thrash yes but thrash.
What kind of potential did it have?
They matured and carved out their original voice.

Some would say it's their best. I am inclined to agree but only if one places Oui avant garde a chance alongside it.
