Apple products are expensive, and you can get a better product from a competitor, for a cheaper price. Even if it doesn't have Mac OS, there's emulators (aka virtual machine software).
1. Brand loyalty is good and bad. Good- you can get good discounts for being a loyal customer. Bad- they can do pretty much whatever you want (like raise the price 500%, make the product terrible, etc.) and you will buy it since you're loyal to them.
Also, cheap stuff can be good. I had a $500 computer that lasted over 5 years, never had a hard drive crash, never had any problems besides when it got 1 virus, and I'm now retiring it because obviously it's really slow.

There's a difference between not being able to afford something, and being totally unwilling to pay a premium on a machine that can't match a PC equivalent which costs $700 less. Pit the $2499 17" Macbook Pro against an $1899 17" ASUS G-Series laptop and watch the fur fly. The MBPro loses in every single category. ASUS U-series laptops are trouncing Macbook Pros in performance numbers, with 10-12 battery lives as opposed to MB's 7 hour battery lives. Not good for Apple.

I've seen Apple's displays and they are nothing to write home about.

And yes they had development tools, but they were very restrictive, and poorly made, a perfect example being that you needed to do all the memory management, if you didn't do this well the app would start to lag then eventually freeze.

you can get laptops with better hardware, but not many, even if you look at tthe top ten laptops for gaming, macbook pro is right up there in the top ten, so the parts cant be that bad aye... and its the overall build, usabilty and reliabilty no laptop can ever offer. PCs are soooo friggin akward... i open a program in mac, it opens first time no hassle EVERYTIME.. i do that on a PC sometimes i am waiting nearly a minute while it lags and freezes, ggrrr
@quickmantan could just be a poorly codded program, also I have used Windows for a long time, and although past versions have been lets say "questionable" in performance *...looks at vista...* I personally have never had any issues with windows 7, and I use my computers around 8 hours a day. Most people who have problems with windows are people that run questionable software, or do things that shouldn't be done. As long as you know what you are doing, windows runs fluid and smooth.

@whiskerjuice actually i have used mac's, and pretty decent ones at that however the mac OS is sooo annoying, and being a programmer, there development tools to program stuff like ipod apps etc are terrible, I don't know if they have made improvements since then, but my all around experience with mac's is that they are shit.

@macnerd93 by "etc" I mean IPod, IPhone. And as far as IPad goes it's just fkin dumb. But that being said, It shows how much you know about IOS, thinking that apps for IPod vs IPhone are different. Unless it uses a feature that the IPhone only has (ex. the older generations of IPod's didn't have camera) the app is interchangeable between said devices. So you sir are the clueless one. But that's to be expected, seeing as you support Mac, which intern gives validity to my prior statement.

@11m4357r0 i have been using macs since 1998, a typical iPod other than the iPod touch has no developer support it didn't even run any apps other than the ones Apple came in, since you just mentioned iPod I assumed you meant iPods like the iPod shuffle, Nano and the classic you also stated you used it a while back, again I assumed you meant pre-ipad & iPhone days

@macnerd93 Nope, earlier in the year actually, around 8 months ago. And yes they had development tools, but they were very restrictive, and poorly made, a perfect example being that you needed to do all the memory management, if you didn't do this well the app would start to lag then eventually freeze.

@guitarlover654 I'm curious, I just don't understand what is so "great" about them. Would you please enlighten me. For example, there hardware specs don't seem all that impressive, you have to buy mac only parts, so that makes it very limiting, you need countless adapters to allow for the device to work with monitors, TV's etc. I could say more but don't have enough room in the chat box to go through the list of faults. So if your able to see something in them I'm missing, I'de love to hear.

dude a apple macbook cost way more than $1400 , i payed £1350 for mine but it should have been £1700 top of the range macbook pro... and they are way better than laptops.. thye dont get virus, they dont lag, they dont lose loads of memory and stupid updates they arent bulky and look better, everything about mac is better than PC except gaming... I am running windows on my mac too specifically for that.. good on you for making money im not knocking that, but macs are alot better.

you can get laptops with better hardware, but not many, even if you look at tthe top ten laptops for gaming, macbook pro is right up there in the top ten, so the parts cant be that bad aye... and its the overall build, usabilty and reliabilty no laptop can ever offer. I havent come across anythng my macbook pro is unable to handle at reasonable or blazing speeds.. have you owned a macbook, NO and don;t lie... i have owned a few PCs and I would never go back to using just a PC.

@quickmantan No, I haven't owned a Macbook. And aside from top 10 laptops, that list most likely doesn't factor in cost. It may beat allot of PC's but that's most likely because your paying up to 5 times more for it, its to be expected, even so there are allot of PC's that are more powerful and allot cheaper. And as far as your Macbook goes, that's wonderful that it runs everything well, you just have to remember you paid allot more for it then if you were to buy a PC with the same specs.

@Dingplef Oh boy... you see, the reason Macs cost more is because Apple has a monopoly on their products, they can charge whatever they want for their stuff and have zero competition. And then they're good at marketing, good enough to suck in any dumbass who doesn't know a thing or two about computing, I'm talking from a technical stand point here, not a "oooo, perty computer" standpoint.... The ONLY thing good about Macs is the stainless steal chassis, which can now be found in the Asus Zen.

My friend had a Macbook Pro with equivalent hardware to my Windows based Asus laptop, we tried to run Fallout New Vegas, his chugged on low, and mine excelled on High, so we tried using boot camp on the Mac, same thing, point is the Mac hardware is dulled down inside a pretty alluminum package with a stable OS for wayyyyy more money... Oh my god this is a pointless argument why am I even trying, Mac users don't know shit about hardware -.-

cause your dumb and ignorant, read what i am saying, mac product the computer itself , the build, the OSx the mac design is what makes mac great... the windows software is horrible,,, not once did i say the hardware inside the computer is better.. i know it is not,, for the price you pay for a cheap ass PC you can get a pretty good spec... to get a good spec mac you pay more... but the specs in macs are easily good enough. if your doing heavy work them get a desktop.

@quickmantan The only reason Windows is usually shit is because dumbasses buy computers from companys like Dell, HP, Gateway, etc.These companies load up Windows with bloatware because they get paid to do so. If you are smart, you buy your Windows retail, and do a fresh install of it. Takes 20 minutes and you get a nice clean fresh install of Windows without any of the shit that causes Windows to turn into a big fuck up. I do intense 3D rendering btw, so yes I do need more powerful (PC) hardware

microsoft everything about it is horribel to use, the design of the laptops, the design of the software, always lags, sometimes screen freezes when loading stuff for no apparent reason. awkard and unnessarily hard to use compared to mac.. everything in a mac is made simple and does the same job.. PCs are soooo friggin akward... i open a program in mac, it opens first time no hassle EVERYTIME.. i do that on a PC sometimes i am waiting nearly a minute while it lags and freezes, ggrrr

@quickmantan could just be a poorly codded program, also I have used Windows for a long time, and although past versions have been lets say "questionable" in performance *...looks at vista...* I personally have never had any issues with windows 7, and I use my computers around 8 hours a day. Most people who have problems with windows are people that run questionable software, or do things that shouldn't be done. As long as you know what you are doing, windows runs fluid and smooth.

Although you can run Wine on Linux to use 'exes', allot don't run properly, or if they do there are speed issues with them. And as far as the " Another WIndows Fanboy...
