Hey John, great videos - I think I've watched about 30 or 40 so far! LOL. I'm trying to decide between the VRT and the 8004. On one hand you recommend the 8004 if juicing primarily leafy greens, and on the other hand recommend making juices only about 25% greens. 25% doesn't seem like "primarily" to me. Wouldn't that indicate the VRT is better overall?
I am looking for the best juicer with the least amount of chopping cutting, cleaning, counter space, bla bla bla.....I juice mostly carrots, spinach, kale, beets, and cabbage. My Jack Lalanne Pro is a DISASTER to clean, HUGE (takes up the whole dishwashe)r,and seems to get the produce stuck and have to constantly take it apart and re feed it, WAY to messy and time consuming. What do you suggest?
Yes, it does. All juicers will produce some level of foam. The amout of foam a juicer makes may be a criteria for you when selecting a juicer. Watch my videos and observe how much foam is generated with each model with each produce item. In general, I Strain all my juices when I drink them, the strainer catches most of the foam.
How well does masticating juicers like the omega 8006/4, handle lemons with the rind peel on? All the videos of juicing (whole) lemons I've been able to find, use centrifuge type juicers.
Yes. that is true, if you use the blank plate. If you use the juicing screen and have soft/old produce, it will make more of a puree than a juice. Firm produce works best. A cider press is the best juicer for apples and pears if that is what you want to juice.
Can the Omega Vrt 350 be used for nut butters with the larger holed screen? I am overall drawn to the Vrt but I do intend to lead a primarily living foods lifestyle and would rather not have to buy multiple juicers to accomplish my goals. I love your videos btw, thank you for making them.
John, can you please share with me the main differences between the J8005 & the VRT350HD? I'm in the market and undecided. I would be juicing (greens, carrots, apples, etc.)
We're looking for juicing mostly leafy green vegg juices with some apple and ginger for taste. I eat a lot of nuts and nut butters as well as nut milks & Sauerkraut. Any suggestions?
Additional: Do you know why the 8004/6 are out of stock and ideas when they'll get them back in stock?
Thank you so much for such wonderful, informative videos. I really appreciate them!
@rawfoods Thanks for the quick reply! I really appreciate it! I would love to buy a juicer right now, I've been thinking about it for ages. For my b-day all my family donated BB&B gift cards to me as I've been recently diagnosed with late stage lyme disease, and am immuno-compromised- hence the great desire to juice. But unfortunately, they're all sold out, even at the Omega website they're on back order too, and we can't afford out of pocket alone, Thanks though! How much your Youtube discount?
@rawfoods I did go but i couldn't figure out how or where the youtube discount was to be applied. : )
I am SO torn between the VRT and 8004... I want to juice mostly veggies like leaffy greens, carrots, celery, ginger and with some fruit to sweeten naturally like apples, etc. with the occational parfait. I currently make my own almond milk, and use a lot of coconut oil. The nut butters weren't really quite what I get at the local Coop where there's a machine that grinds it for us. Your Input?
Hi John - great videos! I just received my Omega VRT 350 HD and made green juice in it using kale, red chard, cucumber, apples and pears. I cut up the kale and chard into 1/2 inch long pieces and didn't have a problem with clogging. But I got a lot more foam than you get in your videos. I have been trying to alternate the fruit and vegetables, but still got a significant amount of foam. Can you pinpoint what I might be doing wrong?
John, thanks so much for posting these. I'm leaning towards the Omega VRT350 HD as my one juicer. I know you'd mentioned it isn't the absolute best at the leafy greens, and I will need it for that, but as an all-purpose machine that will be used for a little bit of everything, you'd give it a solid recommendation?
Yes, that is WHY I recommend the VRT for juicing a little of everything, hard veggies, fruits and leafy greens. If one wants to juice mostly leafy greens than the 8004/8006 style would be better.
Omega and other companies would say their single auger machine are a "masticating" juicer. So in this definition, the vrt is a masticating juicer, so is the 8004/8006.. In my opinion.. The masticating juicer is the champion, the Single auger style machines are not masticating juicers, they are single auger press-style juicers.
On my countertop sits two juicers- The Omega 8005 (upgraded to the 8006) and the Omega VRT350HD. I use the one that will do best at the task I am doing at the time. Each one has its pros and cons. You should look at what you want to do with the juicer the most, and choose the one that will do what you want to do most, best.
@rawfoods Im ready to add leafy greens but with the centrifugal juicer I put them in last cause they clog it up like crazy and there's a lot of wasted greens that dont get juiced. What I do is a fill a pot halfway with water and put carrots, celery, radishes with their leaves, red pepper, (and whatever else I can find in the fridge) and let it all soak in the fridge for a few hours. Doing that seems to make more juice AND it's nice and cold. What do you recommend? I will juice ANYTHING.
@rawfoods What exactly is the difference in the processing of the two juicers? Shouldn't they both wield the exact same amount of juice and foam? They are both single auger juicers running at 80RPM. I'm confused, why is the 8006 more efficient with leafy greens?
Due to the design. They are both juicers, but one is a vertical single auger with a "shorter" auger (press-time) vs the horizontial auger that has a longer auger, meaning more "press-time". Just like different cars get different MPG, but do the same thing..
Hey man these videos have been great in reviewing the different juicers, I'm was originally going to buy the Breville Elite until I saw the comparison video. Learned a lot from watching you do a great job explaining the juicers. Now a little advice for you, you should work on your website a little more and make it a little more refined, the reviews are great on the page but the homepage is a little cluttery. Only telling you cuz I'd like to see you do well, Thanks man
What a pleasure to see your videos! The first one I saw was the 8005 2-parter that you did, and I bought my 8003 from you based on it. Hardly ever use my old Champion any more bec. greens are so great on the 2003. If you come out w/a video that justifies switching to vert, I'll buy it. Otherwise, I just love my 8003!
John: I understand that one can juice just about all fruits in the VRT, but can you list what fruits you juice with the 8006 with ease and which are difficult to juice (or can't juice at all).
You can juice most fruits in the 8006, basically when juicing any fruits, you want to juice hard, firm fruits for best results. Soft fruits such as bananas tend NOT to juice.
John thanks for answering all my questions so far, I greatly appreciate it, I got one more at the moment though. How would the Champion be for an "everything" juicer?
Im not a fan of the champion, it does fairly well with most things, but is not efficient at juicing leafy greens and does not extract as high yield as say them Omega VRT350 on fruits.
One thing I would add is to strictly juice ORGANIC fruits and vegetables. Especially if you eat a lot of them.
The last thing you want, is to be juicing fruits and vegetables that have been sprayed with pesticides and other undesirables.
The more fruits and vegetables you juice and drink, that aren't organically grown, the more pesticides you ingest and the more at risk one becomes of developing all sorts of diseases. ...My 2₵
Hey i know you said the screen on the vrt 350 is 8 times stronger than the vrt 330 because it was cracking a lot, but i was wondering if hurom was having a similar problem? also would you recomend spending the $30 to $50 more to get the vrt 350 over the vrt 330? or just go with a hurom? let me know. thanks for your time!
Yes, the hurom has similiar problems. To fix the problem, hurom shortened their warranty to 1 year so after 1 year, you will have to "buy" new screens. On the Omega they will replace them under warranty. That being said, YES, get the VRT350 HD instead of the 330, if you are a HEAVY DUTY juicer - if you want to juice everyday. If you will juice once a week, the VRT330 should be ok.
Can you do one more juice off showing the samson with oil press versus the omega 8006 using wheatgrass, kale or collards, and other leafy greens? I am on the fence about which one to get. It will be for mostly greens, sunflower sprouts and wheatgrass. I'm leaning towards the 8006 because a past video showed it had higher yields than the samson but that oil press would sure be great to have. Plus the omega has the longer warranty. It's really helpful and inspiring to watch your vids, thank you!
On the samson and 8006, the yield will be very similiar (probably within 10% of each other). The Samson will probably yield more than the 8006 on wheatgrass and greens because it has an "outlet adjusting" knob that keeps the greens in the juicer longer than the 8006.
I have a hurom and while I rarely need to use the pusher, celery and other stringy leafy greens DO need to be chopped in 1 inch pieces, and I have to strain the juice through a nut milk bag each time as it's way to pulpy for me. It looks like the omega 8006 is the way to go for the green juices, although you need to use the pusher you don't need to strain and that would certainly speed the clean up. Only wish the 8006 had an oil press!!!!!

Yes. that is true, if you use the blank plate. If you use the juicing screen and have soft/old produce, it will make more of a puree than a juice. Firm produce works best. A cider press is the best juicer for apples and pears if that is what you want to juice.

1. The champion makes the best nut butter, as it heats and runs at high RPM.
2. The VRT does not have a blank and not optimal to do sauerkraut.
3. the VRT can do sorbet.
4. For mostly leafy greens I recommend the 8004 or 8006
5. We currently have the 8004/8006 and vrt's in stock at discountjuicers*com

not sure about the foam. Foam is caused by extra air space.. try speeding up/slowing down how fast you add produce into the the juicer.
