yeah, no gas or anything complicated to break down either, just one moving part, the slide hammer. but you could make one of these pretty simply, just a pinch bar and a piece of heavy pipe and presto, splitting lance. I personally like the design of the smart splitter though, no need to steady the lance on the downstroke with it.

Looks good. Safer than swinging an ax. Nevermind the people who say they can split cords of wood with their $1,500 gas powered machine.
