@TheMinerva14 Just the bridge pickup is changed. I'd read here and there that Adam uses the SD JB SH-4, so figured I'd give it a shot. As long as I'm playing Tool songs, figured I could use all the help I could get in the tone department :).
hey nice job all around man, thanks for sharing your insights on this song. think u are right about this being a precursor to the "jambi technique", have u got to see them on this current tour?
@TheMrjohhnyonthespot Hey bud, thanks! I'm thinking that Adam used that "Jambi technique" in a lot of songs, even if it's just "once"...it's just hard to hear. Anyway, no. Unfortunately I've missed them this time around. They were within 3 hours of me, but I didn't go...didn't want to brave the "mountain pass" in the winter. How 'bout you?
@JosephMCorbett sorry about the delay, y original reply never made it i guess I am not catching them this tour either, although when the next album comes out i guarantee ill catch at least one show. The wait is staring to get a bit ridiculous for this album, you must need it to come out soon, your are starting to run low on songs your haven't done ;) keep rockin man love the vids
@JosephMCorbett Likewise, it's rare to find musicians on here who can nail TOOL material. If we lived closer, I could definitely see some kick ass jam sessions as a result. Cheers
Oh i always wondered if hed used the Jambi technique earlier!Exercise is nice! I cant quit smoking for the life of me though!Your hat reminds me that every time i go out i have to deal with snow! THANKS ALOT! Anyways... great cover as always man!
@DMTfabric Here's something else to blow your mind. I believe Adam used the technique on Eulogy! Everyone, including myself has covered that song with the 2/3rd fret pull-off. Because I believe that Adam "invented" that technique and used it earlier elsewhere, I've been looking for it. And sure enough, I've come across video footage that shows him using it while performing Eulogy live. Just wanted to go "on record" as the FIRST to discover this BEFORE someone covers it correctly :).
@TheMinerva14 Ha! Ya, check out some of the live HQ audio clips of this song here on the tube...tried to mimic what Adam does most of the time live to introduce the song.
Great job man :) After reading the description, it certainly sounded a little different to my ears than with the CD Track. Didn't know that with Adam an Undertow. On another note, that's actually the first I've seen that triplet roll on any other frets other than the 3rd, 5th, and 10th. Take care and talk soon.
@StevenzGuitarCovers Ya, I especially like the part that starts at 1:10 with the pick hand moved. Sounds totally cool live...but he doesn't do it in every performance. It is a technique that he uses a lot though...now that I know what he's doing, I hear it in a lot of songs. It's another way Adam has done something that goes "unnoticed"...IMO, Adam was doing "djent" (style/technique) before it became a word...going back as far as the early '90's. Glad you liked it...
