dude the bible says that we will only know when it is near but NO MAN KNOWS THE TIME. simply put...no man means no man including jesus god almighty son of god.!
After the current batch of the old rapture-hustlers like Harold Camping, Hal Lindsey, Tim LaHaye, John Hagee, etc. have all died, will people finally grow up mentally and realize that Jesus won't come back with a sack full of presents for them?
Look at all these OLD preachers who have wasted their lives waiting for the rapture and the end times: Jack Van Impe, Harold Camping, Hal Lindsey, Tim LaHaye, John Hagee, Chuck Missler, Chuck Smith, Jack Chick, etc. Give it up guys. Take your millions of dollars, go find a nice retirement community somewhere and stop scaring the rubes with your doomsday prophecies and ghost stories about a guy who rose from the dead.
You are correct in that the constant reference to the Jews being the only signpost for the end times is false in terms of the physical jewish home land. Rather, as you stated, God will make salvation available for all via the term "spiritual israelites or the Israel of God".
I think you Christians really need to get a new hobby, If you had to be rated according to the accuracy of your prophecies you would get a -0-. You have failed miserably in regards to the prophetic and personal responsibility. "Jesus will fix everything" Please at some point when your ready to join the rest of the human race and work for real solutions to real problems feel free to contribute in anyway you can. Thanks
What kills me is how pathetic the bible's god is in communicating his will to mankind. Endless controversies with various sects all claiming they "alone" know the proper interpretation of the book. Because of Jesus's incompetence, he has to employ an army of lying, fraudulent apologists to explain away his numerous failures. Oh, if only the apologists would shut up and let their "god" defend himself.
De Mar present solution to incurred debt to bankers. Evil London bankers in 1690's began present world debt. You do math; an 8% interest, for 313 years, initial principle 16 million pounds sterling. An exponential function in calculus. Worldwide illegitimate currency since the 1930's . Whole world owes banker gangsters 2 million trillion pound sterling debt. How do we pay this debt without WAR. Show solution 'Bible scholar', to avoid slavery if nuclear war is avoided.
Anyone that believed in the rapture after reading the parable of the wheat & tares is blindf. It says so shall it be at the end of the age,the field is the world the wheat are the true believers the tares the false believers the angels gather the tares to be burned.Nothin in that text about the wheat being taken away to be spared from the wrath upon the tares but to witness along side of them the wrath taken on the tares the wheat are the ones left behind Tim Layhea.Repent blind Guides.
In Luke 21, Jesus predicts the destruction of the Temple, the scattering of the Jews into all the nations of the world, and the treading down of Jerusalem by the Gentiles UNTIL the "times of the Gentiles" is complete. This indicates that the Times of the Gentiles will complete, and Jerusalem will no longer be trodden down by Gentiles (i.e. return to Jewish control).
The Jews recaptured East (old) Jerusalem during the Six Day war in 1967. The final Generation (70 yrs) until the end started then.
@neuralecho Another way of translating it would be "until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled" -- it does not indicate that the times of the Gentiles are over now because Israel is a nation. It just means that dominion of Jerusalem passed to the Gentiles in 70 AD. It does not mean that the rebirth of Israel in our day is a sign of the end-times.
Call me in 2037 when we will finally be able to lay rest to this nonsense.
The Scripture is clear that the Jews will be taken captive by the sword into all the nations of the world, and that Jerusalem would be trodden down by the Gentiles UNTIL the time of the Gentiles is fulfilled. The Diaspora happened in 70AD. The Gentiles (Romans, Muslims, Christians) trod Jerusalem down (the Crusades are a prime example) for almost 1900 yrs, after which it was returned to the Jews during the 6 day war.
Many end time prophecies are in the process of being fulfilled.
It might be, for no man knows the hour nor the day. But I am very confident that it will be by 2037 because the signs are all starting to be fulfilled.
Rev 13:16-18 - Mark of the Beast (666) - Human implantable RFID chip.
Rev 16:3-4 - Rivers and seas dying - Dead zones, pollution, over fishing etc.
Rev 16:8-9 - Sun scorching skins of man - Hole in Ozone layer, global warming
Rev 16:12-16 - River Euphrates dried up for Armageddon - Ataturk dam in Turkey can stop the rivers flow
@jcr4runner Even a broken clock is correct twice a day. Someone is bound to get it right sooner or later. But then it will probably be too late to say "I told you so" :)
I was told by the holy Spirit to Not believe one thing from lindseys books i read before I believed the bible and got savec. Amazing God does speak to anyone anytime he wants.
Hal Lindsey is a businessman, trying to make a buck on the weak and the gullible. In 2050 they will still invent new theories just as they have had for the last 2000 years. Jesus was clear when he said that those standing/listening to him would not experience death until the heavens would open and the son of god would descend. It DIDN'T happen, so they reinvented their shit, over and over again. Probably until the time when there's no more profit to be made out of the desperate believers!
Keep up the great work Gary!! I looked like an idiot because of Hal Lindsay's book and all the rest of the Futurists. Preterism makes WAY more sense but demands a lot more reading, thought, learning the Greek language, understanding symbolism of the NT as related to the OT etc. Days of Vengeance has a lot to offer. The Parousia by Russell is revolutionary in thought for a Futurist. How many Futurists still won't read 'War of the Jews' to find out what happened - which is free online to read.
My prediction.....people will not look at the obvious things such as our sudden tendency toward "socialism" in this country or the fact that Iran is suddenly becoming a NUCLEAR power, or that ME instability is at all time high, etc, etc. What they will do is exactly what was prophesied. We will talk about Peace and Safety and "one world government". We are, we are. Some folks need to pull out head. You won't find an exact date calculator. It's already written and we have brains to use.
Protestants can't interpret the bible, thats why there are so many protestant churches. There is only one Catholic church that decided what books to put in the bible, Research it. That's why The One True Catholic Church can understand the bible. You should just give us back our bible, and make up your own religion, oh, you did.
I don't listen to any prophecy teachers. It is the blind leading the blind. Read the bible for yourself. All these prophecy's are just personal speculations and NOT divine revelations. Jesus said no man knows the day. Hal lindsey never apologized for his gross errors nor any of the others. Tune is out people of God.The book of timothy warns of those who would tickle your ears.
Gary Demar, Is there any reason to condemn people for their predictions? Everyone should know that these are simply speculations. Paul thought that the end would come soon even in his lifetime. You have a certain view of end times which is fine. I don't feel that love would be such a right fighter. Rather than criticize others why not simply preach what you believe and walk in love toward those you don't agree with. The harm is not in wrong speculation. The harm is in being critical and divisive
Naming dates COULD cause many people to make Christianity irrelevant--JESUS TOLD THEM NOT TO NAME DATES!!! I like you guys: im glad you think there is a different way, since if you think the world as we know it will end tomorrow, Christians wont want to try to pray and then become salt and light to 'change' that world...The LORD didn't even know (pray for the Van Impes)
America had to become 50 states for Civil Rights to stick----I could say that, because it happened already, time passed and you can see it--the 49th state,AK became america 1/3 and 50th state HI became a state 8/21---1+7=8---3X7=21--I don't like Obamas policies to say the least (Im black and didnt vote for him) I thought his name was Barak at first, and he's from the 50th state, we think. Palin is from the 49th. The election was in 08, 49 years later--this has nothing to do with prophecy
I think a generation is 70 years because trials have 70 year intervals---Wall in russia, jim crow, legalized slavery in the U.S. ALL had 70 years....40 is not only years,it is in days----and with weeks, its human life----Israel becomming a nation links America 12/7/41----5/14/48 the number 7 is also between the 49th and 50th states alaska is 1/3 hawaii is 8/21-----1+7=8-----3x7=21---this has NOTHING is see for prophecy....the election of 08 was weird though--someone from the 49th and 50 state
this guy has no clue what Revelation Knowledge is. Anyone who experiences Jesus on a daily basis knows whats up. Not take the Bible literal? What about what Jesus said to go do? Thats what is wrong with society- christians have hid inside 4 walls of a church and have not done what Jesus said go do- Gary DeMar is prob one of them- Get out in society and take what Jesus said for real- EVERY BIT OF IT- it works- His Power is Real- youtube Todd White or whizzpopping- you will see Holy Ghost workin
Yes, I remember this. I was converted in 1978, I was well aware of their predictions, and that they were false, and that they raped scripture to justify their heresies.
and yes, they are false prophecies, for they spoke authoritatively and in the name of God.
As to the jewish nation reforming they quote Mathree 24: when the fig tree blooms you know summer is near, but a close rading of this passage shows it is about the signs of the end, not one of them. it is a tree, not a symbol of israel
Matthew 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Matthew 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
Matthew 24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
2 Peter 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
2 Peter 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: (Trusting that their good works are equal to the works of Jesus)
Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and FEW there be that find it. (Faith in Jesus alone)
Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
The authenticity of the bible should be up for question. It was put together by the council of Nicea, thank you Constantine. Bart Ehrman thinks it is the word of man, not God, and I agree with him. Matthew 16:28 indicates the kingdom would come within the lifetime of some living at that time...didn't happen. My prediction for the 2nd coming : the 5th of Never.
@k0smon Actually the Council of Nicea never deal with the question of the canon. They dealt with the Arian heresy. However, they DID quote the scriptures as though they were already canonized.
@jcr4runner According to Tony Bushby, he states "...a total of 2048... gathered at Nicea to decide what Christianity really was, what it would be, what writings were to be used and who was to be it's God.
@k0smon Bushby has no idea of what he is talking about. Bushby is a nut. Bushby thinks his book was predicted by Nostradamus and cites sources that do not exist.
None of these were issues at Nicea. It had to do with the Arian controversy. Both sides already agreed Jesus was God. The controversy had to do with whether Jesus was the SAME substance as the Father or of LIKE substance of the Father.
The NT canon was settled by this time because they appealed to it in their arguments.
@jcr4runner They call Bart Ehrman a 'nut' also, because of his conclusion that the bible is not the word of God. He is a 'nut' with a PHD in NT studies. Ancient writings are difficult, because so much information has been destroyed (they burned the libraries), also there was a lot of forgery going on. My info about ancient Chrstianity comes from 2 main (psychic) sources : the Oahspe, and "Antiquity Unveiled".
@k0smon Bart Ehrman reasons from the wrong presuppositions. He's also somewhat of a sensationalist, claiming that textual variations that Christians knew about even in the 2nd century are reason to doubt the wording of the New Testament is reliable. Ehrman is not a nut. He's a liberal scholar I do not agree with. Bushby is a nut in comparison. Ehrman would agree.
In newspaper with front page Obama victory, Illinois Lottery's draw was 666 on Page 2, Bible's Mark of the Beast, announcing Antichrist.
Also, people have remarked to me that Obama has numerous, severe head-scars. Bible states "Antichrist suffers mortal head-wound". Calculating the Antichrist's 42 months rule, starting from Obama's 11/4/2008 election, 42 months is May 2011.
@k0smon Jesus also said that the Kingdom would not come by observation. He said it is within us. Ehrman is nothing more than another carnal mind trying to figure out things that can only be spiritually discerned.
@k0smon Matthew 16:28 refers to people seeing Jesus resurrected. Matthew 24:34 points to a generation that will see the end and it gives the surrounding verses as things to look out for. You need to look to context to understand the individual verses.
@k0smon The only place that you will hear that the council of Nicea decided the cannon will be in a Roman Catholic church, or in the Da Vinci Code. If you do your research, you will find the the church as a whole decided what New Testament books to add to the Jewish Scriptures to make up the Bible as a whole.
GOD is not going to leave out Israel, He will not abandon His promises to Abraham. Hal Lindsey and the rest though they mean well should appologize and shut up. They clearly are not prophets. No one knows when JESUS will come back. He said He's coming like a thief in the night and to keep watch. The prophecies about Israel returning to THEIR GOD GIVEN LAND are in Ezekiel, Jeremiah and Isaiah to name a couple. We can only hope that this major oil spill in the 2nd trump Rev.8:8&9
Idiot the Old testamony is a part of our bible too,so it doesnt have to be in new testament for us to believe in the return of the jews to there homeland
Liar go read new testament again, there are verses that clearly show that Jewish people will be playing great role in the last days,it might not say straight forward but it gives a lot of clues, that to have those clues happening we have to have Israel back in there land, all I can say BRO your a liar or a blind man...
@meyaxshavat If you take the bible literal then yes the Jewish People will be a big part of it....but the bible says Jews are true believers and not a race of people....and the bible is full of parables....so I think taking things literally as it appears you do....is a mistake.....it is not a matter of anyone lying ......it is all interpretation
Yes, the rapture-ites all ignore King Ar-tax-erxes of Persia from in 452 BC allotting Israeli to go back to the land and run it again fulfilling Daniels 9:25-27 prophecy of 70 weeks events. Yeshua in Mark 1:15 decreed the Time now fulfilled, at 3 1/2 year his imparted grace negated the daily sacrifice and law oblations. 3 ½ yrs later Stephen was killed to signify the end of the 70th week.
whoa-... I never saw Hal or Jack as prophets. Rather, as simple humans who have tried to interpret the truth in the bible according to their human, limited wisdom. As such, sometimes their interpretations are correct , others are not. Some other people even claim a biblical generation lasts 70 years (william Tapley), so there. Bashing on these two simply because their vision was not correct does not mean their general message to accept Jesuchrist is false as well.
I agree that neither Jack or Hal are or have ever claimed to be prophets! I believe they both sincerely love God's word and try to interpret events and God's Word as closely as any fallible human can. I have watched them both for years and thank God for them. And have heard them say that they have changed their beliefs as new information and events have unfolded.
disallusional people preaching to disallusional and desperate people. television evangelists don't help anyone. Twentyfive minutes of incoherent preaching followed by five minutes of beseaching (asking) for money (pledges, "love gifts, "seeds", ) C'mon!
Jim, please don't write off all televangelists too quickly. I had a Bible college prof who admitted coming to Christ while watching the 700 CLUB. I also worked with a Catholic guy who accepted Christ watching Joyce Meyer. The Holy Spirit can use these foolish things for his purpose and to God's glory. Yes, one hopes that those saved via these hucksters mature and move on from them as they set to studying the Bible for themselves.
@ryecroft57 I used to watch all those people on TV But not any more my eyes were opened to their false teachings and now only the bible is my truth in which I fully agree and believe in.
Having said that, it is important to understand that the rapture and second coming is not as important as the way we live and commit to Christ. All this is moot unless you are walking with Christ. Even if he does not come in our lifetime, we still need to call on his shed blood for our salvation regardless to the times in which we live. Hal Lindsey was mistaken on his interpretation of scripture regarding the generation but so have many decent men who are trying to put out the warning.
I think that he is very wrong on the nations of the world coming to know Christ. The bible clearly says that the nations would gather to come against Israel and God would defend his people. GOD also said that he would scatter them to the nations of the world and then bring them back into their own land in the last days, when the time of the gentiles is fullfilled. (sound familiar?) I have always believed that the generation was the one present at the time of the end, ours, approx. 80-100 years.
Well, I think he is very wrong about the whole world coming to Christ. The bible clearly tells us that the nations will come against Israel in defiance to GOD and he will defend his people. The bible also tells us that GOD would scatter his people to the four corners of the world and then gather them back to their own land in the last day, when the time of the gentiles is fullfilled. Sound familiar? The "generation will not pass" is this generation which is approx 80-100 years.
Rev 16:18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.
He just blew it in my view. There is no way that all of the nations will come to Christ. Scripture is clear on this. Many are called , But few answer. All of Israel both the naturalk and the grafted in will believe, and be saved. Go watch " daniels Time line her on utube.
More straw man argument. Hal Lindsey's views &b Wisnet's views on all subjects do not define Dispensationalism. He may as well take a Covenant Theologian who believe sin a Mid-Trib Rapture & then say that Covenant Theology is wrong for that reason. Or He may as well find a Cov Theologian who believes that Melchizadek was preincarnate Christ, then argue vs. Cov theol on that basis. U don't defeat a system by attacking straw men, but by facing the system.
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise (coming), as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Well I challange you to know what scripture says. Not your opine. Your wrong Ill prove it. Go watch Daniels Time line here on utube. And keep in mind that God in his word gave us an exact counting of days, weeks years months. in both Daniel and inJohn in context to the end and the return of the Lord. Be a Christain and search the word. Pastor JM
@wisecracker03 You are fulfilling Bible prophesy with your statements. It's so convenient to plead ignorance when the Truth is so readily available. It won't work on judgement day. The 2nd coming is a fact whether you like it or not.
@jcr4runner While I agree that this gentlemen's problem is immorality, I don't think you've communicated it in a way that has much chance of being understood. You left out the explanation for that conclusion, thereby leaving our "wisecracking" friend with the options of either inquiring further, or righting you off. Which of those options do you think most people is his position would go for?
@Cracker03 He never says "the son of God" didn't he? Of course, NOT! He is Eternal God, himself. He is the creator of this earth and the whole entire universe. He said:The he is Almighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Alpha and The Omega. The Beginning and The Ending and there's not other God, before me or any other Saviour, that I dont' know? Chrsit, was referring to "The Son of Perdition."who is "Satan, Himself." Satan, will never know the end of time nor "The Falling Angels."
I agree with some of what Gary Demar said, however anyone who attempts to say when Jesus is going to come back will be wrong. No man knows the hour, not even the Son of Man (Jesus Hisself) but the Father only.
I don't believe in a Rapture either. What is the preterist position on the resurrection. Do you believe there will be a first and second resurrection? And when this resurrection happens will we be immortal? Will we be immortal on Earth or in the Heavens?
We postmil preterists do believe in a rapture (the resurrection) it will occur AFTER the millennium just as the Bible says. The first resurrection is attaining heaven after death. The Bible essentially teaches that if you die and have no part in the first resurrection, you have no part in the second resurrection that comes at the end of history.
They would have done that on day one of after coming home to their country. Most Christians and scholars believe they found the true site of the original Temple and will build there and believe even this will be done in a time of great peace brought in by the antichrist. Both religions love our Father God but have a different Messiah. One of love and peace the other of war and hate.
First, we shouldn't date set, knowing the bible tells us not even Jesus knows the day or the hour so why speculate? But it is said we will know the nearness like changing of the seasons..so by this we know certain prophecies must first be fulfilled..1948 was just one..God scattered the jews then brought them back as a nation..but b4 the end comes..the man of sin/antichrist must rise in power, this hasnt happened yet..when he rises in power over all the world we know Christ comes back in 7 yrs.
Isreal becimg a nation again is mentioned a few times in the New Testament. Isreal is referred to as the fig tree. Jesus tells us to watch the fig tree. When it starts to blossom and bear fruit the end is near. Not only are they once again a nation, but we can see how they are flourishing over the last few decades.
Matthew 24:32 Jesus used the descriptive analogy of a fig tree to instruct his disciples about how we could discern the timeliness of his return to Israel. Also, read Jeremiah 24:5-7. This shows a direct correlation of how God compares Isreal to the fig tree.
Luke 21:29 "Behold the fig tree and all the trees ..."
If Israel is the fig tree, what are "all the trees"?
The parable is not an allegory. The disciples were asking when the Temple would be destroyed.
Jesus is just saying that when you see a true blossoming, then you know spring is near, and when the disciples would see tribulation and the Roman armies surrounding Judea, they would know that the Temple was about to be destroyed.
The disciples were not talking about when the temple would be destroyed. They were asking about the end of the age, and the second coming of Christ. (Matt.24:3) Jesus was telling them what to watch for so they could decipher when His return was imminent. The clock of Jesus' return can be understood by watching Israel, God's chosen people. Who or what else would He have been talking about?? Yes, trees do not stand for "countries", but are compared by their characteristics to nations or people
I don't think the fig tree stands for anything specific.
It's just a way of saying, "So YOU (Jesus' present audience) also, when YOU see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors!"
Why would Jesus say "when YOU see all these things," if he was talking about someone else in the far off future.
The idea that this fig tree refers to Israel is a new idea. No one in Jesus day understood it to mean that and it isn't found in any Christian writings until the last 50 years or so.
The fig tree in Mat. 24:32 is not a symbolic or allegorical hidden message speaking of the Jews obtaining Israel. It is simply a parable.
It's a general statement about ALL trees, and the fact that when they put forth leaves, obviously summer is near. Similarly, when we see the things Jesus teaches of in Matt 24 we will know He is near.
Luke proves that Jesus is speaking of trees in general and not Israel.
"Behold the fig tree and ALL the trees..." Luke 21:29
I re-read these scriptures, and I just don't agree. But really, the bottom line is that Jesus is coming for His people, the church, and the time is getting closer. That is the whole point, no matter what way Jesus uses to describe it.
i heard many different yrs. representing a generation. I also know theres scripture that says untill the fullness of the gentiles comes in. Someone could look at that as Israel in 1967. Jerusalem was in Jewish hands then. Now you also have to consider in the calandar used in biblicl yrs. of 360 days. But like earlier post same applies, NO man knows. and you have to ask yourself what if you did know? what would you be doing different? All I do know is that its close. closer then you think.
I agree. Not necessarily 'generation' of 40 years but the length of the generation that saw the forming of Israel in 1948. 3 score and 10 the Bible gives us.
Also, realistically, it could be prior to the death of the last person of that 1948 generation which conceivably could be as much as 90 or 100 years from 1948.
Right. We won't know exactly, but we do know that things are falling into place. Soon!
I am not aware that there is a fixed time for a "generation" but it seems to me that the bible means the amount of time it takes for humans to reproduce themselves. So if it is an estimated amount of time, then age 60 could contain three generations, because most people have grandchildren by that age. There are those who have grandchildren before that, so it can vary within individual families. But when do most people marry in this era, to produce offspring?
You can't predict the Rapture.. Only God knows when the Rapture will take place.. Not even the Angels in Heaven know when it will take place.... Also the prophet Ezekiel predicted the rebirth of Israel in Ezekiel chapter 37 titled The Dry Bones Live. Also in Matthew 24:32-35 is Jesus predicting the rebirth of Israel titled the Parable Of The Fig Tree. The generation that sees the rebirth of Israel will also be the same generation that will see the return of Jesus Christ.
I think the MAIN thing to remember is that the Muslims are en-route to want to kill all the Jews. Ahmandinejad (Iranian) believes he has been chosen to destroy Israel (& Gentiles). In order for their (muslims) messiah (the 12th Imam/ Mahdi) to return to reign for 1,000 years. They MUST kill the Jews. This conflict of who has the right messiah will eventually lead to Armageddon. No doubt about it.
its also very important to notice that christians and jews believe that the 3rd temple must be rebuilt (or be being buit) before christ returns. the christians and the jews then think that the arabs MUST be killed. Israel is never going to be able to tare down the dome of the rock without open war. I would be very carefull what policy we actually support, since as I see it, Jesus didnt teach holy wars.
blasphemy never stoped the jews before. There are looking for a purly earthly ruler to accomplish the works of the messiah. They are looking for someone whos going to destroy all their enemies.
what I find troubling is that they wont acknowledge someone as being the messiah untill AFTER hes done everything hes "supposed" to do, so to what extent will the jews tolerate someone "attempting" to be the messiah?
In other words, they have to risk open war before they are even sure of their messiah
If that were true, they have enough power to destroy their enemies in 1 day but they are waiting for God to send their Messiah and they know that everyone will know him when He arrives.
In His eight chapter prophecy of the Temple in the Millennium (chapters 40-47), Ezekiel mentions animal sacrifice several times. The most notable are Ezekiel 40:38-43 and 43:18-27.
"the christians and the jews then think that the arabs MUST be killed" NO true Christian or Jew wants to kill anyone. That is why Israel has been bombed for years before they finally had to defend themselves. The Jews would never tear down the Dome of the Rock without permission from the Muslims.
I think everybody is caught up on the "Fig tree" part of Matthew 24, I've been there and done that, and still wonder if it has any meaning in regards to prophecy, but I think it is a stretch to say the Lord is speaking of Israel becoming a nation and then the count down for generation starts. Jake61NYC has addressed that. Gary's comment about the nation of Israel coming back, it is mentioned over and over in the writings of the prophets. Jer 23:1-8 for instance. Generation can also mean race
Well i'm right again, you 2 have just cofirmed it for me and that is: as long as there are 2 or more ppl on this planet we all call earth there will either be a disagreement or a conflict, thats just human nature.Let me me put in simple terms that you 2 maybe able to understand and that is simply this:We will all find out at the end of the day in the "Check out Line",will we not, then we shall all see who was right and who was wrong. :-)
He adds: "Many scholars who have studied Bible prophecy all their lives believe that this is so.
Later, Lindsey changed his time scale for a generation from forty years or so to somewhere between sixty and eighty years. He added: There are a lot of world leaders who are pointing to the 1980s as being the time of some momentous events. But I feel certain that it will take place before the year 2000.
Thank you for finding the time. Now what pages did you find your responses on (before 2000) . Please provide back up as I had provided. in regards to the book the late great planet Earth.
2)Although you can make the case that an AOD did take place both times, you can also make the case it didnt fulfill the AOD spoken of by Daniel. My view at this point (and it is not a matter of salvation of course) is that there will be a future AOD that will fulfill Daniels prophecy and the generation that is witness to it will see the fulfillment of the end of the world (end of human government) and the literal return of Christ.
1)My personal view of whom this generation refers to in the olivet discourse is not necessarily the disciples generation nor the generation that sees the rebirth of Israel, but the generation that witnesses the abomination of desolation (AOD) spoken of by Daniel the prophet. The AOD was not Antiochus Epiphanies in 164bc and I personally dont believe it was Titus in 70ad.
4) What Jesus was telling Peter and all of us is, you keep forgiving as many times as necessary until I return in judgment. This is clear evidence that the 70 weeks of Daniel is not complete, as many preterits believe.
3) There is also an interesting statement that Jesus makes to Peter in Matt. 18:22 in reference to how many times should we forgive. Jesus response to Peter was 70 x 7 or 490. He was not telling Peter there was a mathematical number to the amount of times to forgive but rather an actual time in history when the door of forgiveness would close and Gods ultimate judgment and wrath be poured out.
2) If the preterits view is taken, they believe there is no gap between the 69th week and the 70th week of Daniel. Which means the 483yrs up to the messiah the prince would be immediately followed by the last 7years, and if that is the case then the destruction of the temple and the AOD spoken of by Daniel would have to had taken place long before 70ad.
Daniel's prophecy simply says that Messiah would appear at the beginning of the 70th week would be "cut off" in the middle of the 70th week. It's not necessary to have a monumental event 3-1/2 years after Jesus' death (which is described nowhere in the prophecy) in order for the 70 weeks to be fulfilled.
Temple sacrifices ceased to be efficacious in 30 AD, but they did not cease to be offered until AD 70 in accordance with Jesus prophecy -- this generation will not pass away.
1a) Daniel 9:25 clearly states that from the command to restore Jerusalem unto the coming of Messiah the Prince shall be 69 weeks or 483yrs (not before or after). The coming of Messiah does not take place in the 70th week. What takes place after the 69 weeks, is the death of messiah and the destruction of the temple. The Preterist view that these two events takes place in the 70th wk is a force fit.
"And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined."
And after threescore and two weeks — Sixty-two weeks. Verse 26 does not include the seven weeks of verse 25, but seven weeks (during which time the Temple was rebuilt) must precede the 62 weeks to equal the same 69 weeks of verse 25.
Shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself — Christ was not cut off himself, except as an offering to the Jews who rejected him. After 40 years (Matt. 24:34) of offering the Gospel to the Jews, their nation was cut off from God together with the Temple offerings.
And the people of the prince — The Roman legions under their general, Titus, the son of the Emperor Vespasian.
The war desolations — Titus destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple in AD 70.
2a) The death of messiah happened around 32ad and the destruction of the temple in 70ad. If these two events took place in the 70th wk (the last 7yrs of the 490), then the destruction of the temple would had to have taken place much sooner than 70ad. One thing is clear, the abomination of desolation in Dan 9:27 clearly happens in the 70th wk or last 7yrs.
3a) Preterists link the temples destruction verse 25 (which happened in 70ad), with the AOD in verse 27 (which is yet future). Because an AOD took place in 70ad does not mean it fulfills the AOD in verse 27. Also, to imply that we dont have to take the 70th week as a literal 7yr period (as we do the first 69wks or 483 yr period) undermines the most powerful time sensitive prophecy of the first coming of Messiah in the Holy Scriptures.
4a) I by no means claim to have all the answers. You may believe the stone (Jesus Christ) has already struck the image at the feet of iron and clay representing the world empires and I believe Christ will one day strike the image. One thing we can agree, the stone has been cut out of the mountain and that stone is Jesus Christ. The empires of this world will crumble to dust and the kingdom of God, with Christ as king will reign over all the earth.
1) I believe the prophecy by Jesus of the destruction of the temple in the Olivet discourse was fulfilled in 70ad. However the Abomination of desolation that took place in 70ad no more fulfilled the AOD spoken of by Daniel the prophet than the AOD in 168bc did. Also I believe the reference to this generation spoken of in Matt 24:34 is not necessarily the disciples generation but rather whatever generation witnesses the AOD spoken of by Daniel the prophet.
New Generations start,. Doesn't mean the previous generation has passed till all of that previous Generation have passed with it (AKA) Have died off. Read, Listen to what Christ stated again.
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.'' (Matt. 24:34)
Satan is a clever Lawyer too in the being technical.
Think about it as the signs and symptoms approach.. No one knows the hour, day, not even Christ, but God alone. And Christ is God. :-)
In order for a generation to truly pass, everybody of the particular generation in question, would have to have died, or have left Earth by death.
So lets start with 1948 as the Generation marking. of Israel becoming a nation again. Every new generation begins in forty years, but the generation doesn't pass till all of that generation are gone, have died.
The continual fighting among Christians is proof that having a theory of absolutes doesnt translate into having a clear cut victory over Atheists. Christians criticize atheism as not providing a basis for morality and good government and brag about all the absolutes that the Bible provides. Well, the devil is in the details, isnt it? Christians cant even agree among themselves but are all quick to point fingers at non-Christians for not having philosophical coherence.
My last comment take in more than just your video but also of other Presuppositionalists.
They post videos on YouTube with titles like "TAG You're Out" and entice Atheists to join in. They then take delight in pointing out how Atheists don't even have a philosophical basis for using logic.
So I continually ask the question what advantage do Christians really have if they can't even use this logic of theirs to agree among themselves.
If our brains are products of evolution, then how can we trust our own brains to see reality.
With a Creator god there is a transcendent truth according to which all logic must conform.
Christians not agreeing with each other doesn't refute the existence of a Divine transcendent order, it merely proves the total depravity of man and our fallen understanding due to sin.
"Where is it predicted that the Temple would be rebuilt once again?" Da 9:27
He will confirm a covenant with many...he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation...
Also Mt 24:15, Mrk 13:14 There must be a Temple in order for there to be a sacrifice. Trust me, I know this, I'm a Jew.
Jesus is the new Temple. The Jews were judged in 70 a.d. by God for rejecting Jesus and the second Temple was destroyed by the Romans. Jesus predicted this in the 24th Chapter of Matthew. One day the Jewish people will accept Jesus as the Messiah. I don't know when but it will happen.
Brothers in Christ, I have sought out the scriptures in many areas, from understanding speaking in languages, to false converts, to baptisms, to is faith an object, to God's teachings on prosperity, to free will and predestination, and several other areas.
This area I know the least about. I barely began understanding Dispensationalism, and then this view of Covenant theology and preterism came up. Where can I get clear objective info on both sides?
If I had to set a date for Christ return i'de say he will return 20 years or less....The way the world is lookin it could possibly be sooner than that, But thts just me.
dude the bible says that we will only know when it is near but NO MAN KNOWS THE TIME. simply put...no man means no man including jesus god almighty son of god.!

After the current batch of the old rapture-hustlers like Harold Camping, Hal Lindsey, Tim LaHaye, John Hagee, etc. have all died, will people finally grow up mentally and realize that Jesus won't come back with a sack full of presents for them?
MrAdvancedAtheist 5 months ago

The final Generation (70 yrs) until the end started then.
neuralecho 1 year ago
@neuralecho Another way of translating it would be "until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled" -- it does not indicate that the times of the Gentiles are over now because Israel is a nation. It just means that dominion of Jerusalem passed to the Gentiles in 70 AD. It does not mean that the rebirth of Israel in our day is a sign of the end-times.
Call me in 2037 when we will finally be able to lay rest to this nonsense.
jcr4runner 1 year ago
@jcr4runner

My prediction for the 2nd coming : the 5th of Never.
k0smon 1 year ago
@k0smon Actually the Council of Nicea never deal with the question of the canon. They dealt with the Arian heresy. However, they DID quote the scriptures as though they were already canonized.
jcr4runner 1 year ago 3
@jcr4runner According to Tony Bushby, he states "...a total of 2048... gathered at Nicea to decide what Christianity really was, what it would be, what writings were to be used and who was to be it's God.
k0smon 1 year ago
@k0smon Bushby has no idea of what he is talking about. Bushby is a nut. Bushby thinks his book was predicted by Nostradamus and cites sources that do not exist.
None of these were issues at Nicea. It had to do with the Arian controversy. Both sides already agreed Jesus was God. The controversy had to do with whether Jesus was the SAME substance as the Father or of LIKE substance of the Father.
The NT canon was settled by this time because they appealed to it in their arguments.
jcr4runner 1 year ago
@jcr4runner They call Bart Ehrman a 'nut' also, because of his conclusion that the bible is not the word of God. He is a 'nut' with a PHD in NT studies. Ancient writings are difficult, because so much information has been destroyed (they burned the libraries), also there was a lot of forgery going on. My info about ancient Chrstianity comes from 2 main (psychic) sources : the Oahspe, and "Antiquity Unveiled".
k0smon 1 year ago
@k0smon Bart Ehrman reasons from the wrong presuppositions. He's also somewhat of a sensationalist, claiming that textual variations that Christians knew about even in the 2nd century are reason to doubt the wording of the New Testament is reliable. Ehrman is not a nut. He's a liberal scholar I do not agree with. Bushby is a nut in comparison. Ehrman would agree.

As such, sometimes their interpretations are correct , others are not. Some other people even claim a biblical generation lasts 70 years (william Tapley), so there. Bashing on these two simply because their vision was not correct does not mean their general message to accept Jesuchrist is false as well.

2 Peter chapter 3 verses 9-10
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise (coming), as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Those who try to predict the end are wrong
those who say there will be NO END are even more wrong.
But the key to understanding God and history and revelations is to look at the circular structure of history.
Signs of the end are always there but as the bible says you will not know the day or the hour.

Give it up folks. There will be no 2nd coming ever. This is like waiting for godot.
Hal Lindsey, Herbert Armstrong and many others have all said that the 2nd coming was supposed to have already happened by now.
Well obviously it hasn't happened.
But yet so many fools out there still think it's going to happen.
A hundred years from now you will still have people talking about and waiting for the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ.
It's time to wake up and get real.
This is pure bull........
wisecracker03 2 years ago
That's what the video is about: the errors of Armstrong, Miller, Lindsey and so on.
But we believe in God. If Jesus came 200 yers ago, then he will come again.
You don't believe in God because you are an immoral dude.
That's the root of your problem. Your problem is moral in nature, not eschatological.
jcr4runner 2 years ago
Maybe I am immoral but that's not an issue with me.
Because honestly I could care less.
And honestly I wouldn't give a damn about God either, even if he did exist.
But at least I'm not feebleminded to believe in a 2nd coming.
That's a pie in the sky dream that serves only to give hope and comfort to the hopeless.
All you christians are is just a bunch a hopeless and worthless hypocrites who can't even live up to their own standards of morality.
I know I'm not making that up either.

@wisecracker03 You are fulfilling Bible prophesy with your statements. It's so convenient to plead ignorance when the Truth is so readily available. It won't work on judgement day. The 2nd coming is a fact whether you like it or not.
trodaball 2 years ago
My problem may be moral, but then again I don't consider myself a paragon of morality.
That's never been important to me.
However now that we are on the subject of morality I can say this about myself.
At least I'm not a hypocrite like so many of you christians out there who hold themselves up to a standard that they can't even live by.
Yet they try to convince others they should.
To all you pious lechers, child molesters, homosexuals, liars and frauds mind your own business.

To use biblical morality as a basis to define hypocrisy among false "Christians" is to embrace Christian ethics.
So good for you.

If the kingdom of god be populated with such hypocrites as I pointed out above then perhaps I should be far away from it.
There is nothing I have less respect for than hypocrisy or double standards.

@jcr4runner While I agree that this gentlemen's problem is immorality, I don't think you've communicated it in a way that has much chance of being understood. I don't believe in a Rapture either. What is the preterist position on the resurrection. Do you believe there will be a first and second resurrection? And when this resurrection happens will we be immortal? Will we be immortal on Earth or in the Heavens?
jdavis1961 2 years ago
We postmil preterists do believe in a rapture (the resurrection) it will occur AFTER the millennium just as the Bible says. The first resurrection is attaining heaven after death. The Bible essentially teaches that if you die and have no part in the first resurrection, you have no part in the second resurrection that comes at the end of history.
jcr4runner 2 years ago

Lisa5kids 2 years ago
Jesus doesn't ever say that the fig tree is Israel.
Where else is Israel EVER referred to as a fig tree in the Bible?
jcr4runner 2 years ago
Matthew 24:32 Jesus used the descriptive analogy of a fig tree to instruct his disciples about how we could discern the timeliness of his return to Israel. Also, read Jeremiah 24:5-7. This shows a direct correlation of how God compares Isreal to the fig tree.
Lisa5kids 2 years ago
Luke 21:29 "Behold the fig tree and all the trees ..."
If Israel is the fig tree, what are "all the trees"?
The parable is not an allegory. The disciples were asking when the Temple would be destroyed.
Jesus is just saying that when you see a true blossoming, then you know spring is near, and when the disciples would see tribulation and the Roman armies surrounding Judea, they would know that the Temple was about to be destroyed.
The trees don't stand for countries.
jcr4runner 2 years ago
The disciples were not talking about when the temple would be destroyed. They were asking about the end of the age, and the second coming of Christ. (Matt.24:3) Jesus was telling them what to watch for so they could decipher when His return was imminent. The clock of Jesus' return can be understood by watching Israel, God's chosen people. Who or what else would He have been talking about?? Yes, trees do not stand for "countries", but are compared by their characteristics to nations or people
Lisa5kids 2 years ago
How would they be asking about the Second Coming if Jesus hadn't gone anywhere yet?
They were asking if Jesus was going to NOW restore the kingdom.
I agree that part of the Mount Olivet Discourse (through chapter 25) deals with end times events, but most of it was fulfulled by 70 AD.
jcr4runner 2 years ago
I'm curious then. What do you think the fig tree stands for, and who is Jesus referring to by using it in a parable? What is truly blossoming?
Lisa5kids 2 years ago
I don't think the fig tree stands for anything specific.
It's just a way of saying, "So YOU (Jesus' present audience) also, when YOU see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors!"
Why would Jesus say "when YOU see all these things," if he was talking about someone else in the far off future.
The idea that this fig tree refers to Israel is a new idea. No one in Jesus day understood it to mean that and it isn't found in any Christian writings until the last 50 years or so.
jcr4runner 2 years ago

Soon!
andyinhatillo 2 years ago
Dear behearsoon:
I am not aware that there is a fixed time for a "generation" but it seems to me that the bible means the amount of time it takes for humans to reproduce themselves. So if it is an estimated amount of time, then age 60 could contain three generations, because most people have grandchildren by that age. There are those who have grandchildren before that, so it can vary within individual families. But when do most people marry in this era, to produce offspring?

The generation that sees the rebirth of Israel will also be the same generation that will see the return of Jesus Christ.

I think the MAIN thing to remember is that the Muslims are en-route to want to kill all the Jews. Ahmandinejad (Iranian) believes he has been chosen to destroy Israel (& Gentiles). In order for their (muslims) messiah (the 12th Imam/ Mahdi) to return to reign for 1,000 years. They MUST kill the Jews. This conflict of who has the right messiah will eventually lead to Armageddon. No doubt about it.
elchingonaso76 2 years ago 2
its also very important to notice that christians and jews believe that the 3rd temple must be rebuilt (or be being buit) before christ returns. the christians and the jews then think that the arabs MUST be killed. Israel is never going to be able to tare down the dome of the rock without open war. I would be very carefull what policy we actually support, since as I see it, Jesus didnt teach holy wars.
collegeboy477 2 years ago
According to Hal Lindsey, but not ALL Christians believe a third Temple must be rebuilt.
In fact, having animal sacrifices again is a blasphemous idea according to the book of Hebrews.
jcr4runner 2 years ago
blasphemy never stoped the jews before.
In other words, they have to risk open war before they are even sure of their messiah
collegeboy477 2 years ago
Blasphemy rarely stops most people who don't believe in Jesus -- not specifically the Jews.
We postmillennialists belvieve the Jews will be converted, not that they will build a Temple again and be destroyed in the battle of Armageddon.
jcr4runner 2 years ago
who said anything about them being destroyed?
My point is many christians are looking for a 3rd temple, and the jews are definitely looking for one.
Just trying to point out that blind support for all things "Jewish" is not what god wants.
I think too many christians think that not supporting the decisions israel makes is automatically antisemetic.
collegeboy477 2 years ago
If that were true, they have enough power to destroy their enemies in 1 day but they are waiting for God to send their Messiah and they know that everyone will know him when He arrives.
barbieray98 2 years ago
In His eight chapter prophecy of the Temple in the Millennium (chapters 40-47), Ezekiel mentions animal sacrifice several times. The most notable are Ezekiel 40:38-43 and 43:18-27.
barbieray98 2 years ago

On page 54, of Hal Lindsey's Book, The Late Great Planet Earth....Below, is what Hal Lindsey actually wrote.
"If this is a correct Deduction, then within forty years or so from 1948, all these things 'could' take place."
So you see, there is a difference from reading something for what it says.. VS .. reading something for what you want it to say. :-)
Usually, for selfish reasons, a story is retold for with a twist for some sort of gain.

ATOMICGLUE 2 years ago
1)My personal view of whom this generation refers to in the olivet discourse is not necessarily the disciples generation nor the generation that sees the rebirth of Israel, but the generation that witnesses the abomination of desolation (AOD) spoken of by Daniel the prophet. The AOD was not Antiochus Epiphanies in 164bc and I personally dont believe it was Titus in 70ad.
ATOMICGLUE 2 years ago
You don't think the prophecy of the Temple's destruction was fulfilled in 70 AD even though it was fulfilled to the letter.
That takes commitment.
Even Hal Lindsey admits that this is the primary fulfillment. He is just looking (unnecessarily) for it all to happen again.
jcr4runner 2 years ago
4) What Jesus was telling Peter and all of us is, you keep forgiving as many times as necessary until I return in judgment. This is clear evidence that the 70 weeks of Daniel is not complete, as many preterits believe.
ATOMICGLUE 2 years ago
3) There is also an interesting statement that Jesus makes to Peter in Matt. 18:22 in reference to how many times should we forgive. Jesus response to Peter was 70 x 7 or 490. He was not telling Peter there was a mathematical number to the amount of times to forgive but rather an actual time in history when the door of forgiveness would close and Gods ultimate judgment and wrath be poured out.
ATOMICGLUE 2 years ago
2) If the preterits view is taken, they believe there is no gap between the 69th week and the 70th week of Daniel. Which means the 483yrs up to the messiah the prince would be immediately followed by the last 7years, and if that is the case then the destruction of the temple and the AOD spoken of by Daniel would have to had taken place long before 70ad.
ATOMICGLUE 2 years ago
Daniel's prophecy simply says that Messiah would appear at the beginning of the 70th week would be "cut off" in the middle of the 70th week. It's not necessary to have a monumental event 3-1/2 years after Jesus' death (which is described nowhere in the prophecy) in order for the 70 weeks to be fulfilled.
Temple sacrifices ceased to be efficacious in 30 AD, but they did not cease to be offered until AD 70 in accordance with Jesus prophecy -- this generation will not pass away.
jcr4runner 2 years ago
1a) Daniel 9:25 clearly states that from the command to restore Jerusalem unto the coming of Messiah the Prince shall be 69 weeks or 483yrs (not before or after). The coming of Messiah does not take place in the 70th week. What takes place after the 69 weeks, is the death of messiah and the destruction of the temple. The Preterist view that these two events takes place in the 70th wk is a force fit.
ATOMICGLUE 2 years ago
Daniel 9 is a bit complex to answer in 500 characters.
If you Google search for:
In The Days of These Kings ... Daniel in Preterist Perspective
you will see my articles on Daniel.
jcr4runner 2 years ago
The verse in question is Daniel 9:26
"And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined."
jcr4runner 2 years ago
And after threescore and two weeks — Sixty-two weeks. Verse 26 does not include the seven weeks of verse 25, but seven weeks (during which time the Temple was rebuilt) must precede the 62 weeks to equal the same 69 weeks of verse 25.
jcr4runner 2 years ago
Shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself — Christ was not cut off himself, except as an offering to the Jews who rejected him. After 40 years (Matt. 24:34) of offering the Gospel to the Jews, their nation was cut off from God together with the Temple offerings.
And the people of the prince — The Roman legions under their general, Titus, the son of the Emperor Vespasian.
The war desolations — Titus destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple in AD 70.
jcr4runner 2 years ago
2a) The death of messiah happened around 32ad and the destruction of the temple in 70ad. If these two events took place in the 70th wk (the last 7yrs of the 490), then the destruction of the temple would had to have taken place much sooner than 70ad. One thing is clear, the abomination of desolation in Dan 9:27 clearly happens in the 70th wk or last 7yrs.
ATOMICGLUE 2 years ago
3a) Preterists link the temples destruction verse 25 (which happened in 70ad), with the AOD in verse 27 (which is yet future). Because an AOD took place in 70ad does not mean it fulfills the AOD in verse 27. Also, to imply that we dont have to take the 70th week as a literal 7yr period (as we do the first 69wks or 483 yr period) undermines the most powerful time sensitive prophecy of the first coming of Messiah in the Holy Scriptures.
ATOMICGLUE 2 years ago
4a) I by no means claim to have all the answers. You may believe the stone (Jesus Christ) has already struck the image at the feet of iron and clay representing the world empires and I believe Christ will one day strike the image. One thing we can agree, the stone has been cut out of the mountain and that stone is Jesus Christ. The empires of this world will crumble to dust and the kingdom of God, with Christ as king will reign over all the earth.
ATOMICGLUE 2 years ago
1) I believe the prophecy by Jesus of the destruction of the temple in the Olivet discourse was fulfilled in 70ad. However the Abomination of desolation that took place in 70ad no more fulfilled the AOD spoken of by Daniel the prophet than the AOD in 168bc did. Also I believe the reference to this generation spoken of in Matt 24:34 is not necessarily the disciples generation but rather whatever generation witnesses the AOD spoken of by Daniel the prophet.
ATOMICGLUE 2 years ago
Agreed. Daniel is the key to understanding what Jesus meant when he referred to Daniel.

In order for a generation to truly pass, everybody of the particular generation in question, would have to have died, or have left Earth by death.

Your video was too juicy to pass up.
Entropy56 2 years ago
So what is the philosophical basis of logic?
If our brains are products of evolution, then how can we trust our own brains to see reality.
With a Creator god there is a transcendent truth according to which all logic must conform.
Christians not agreeing with each other doesn't refute the existence of a Divine transcendent order, it merely proves the total depravity of man and our fallen understanding due to sin.
