Great idea, the signs, both front and back. So many productions just shove the actors out at the audience, where perhaps 1 person in 5 has the learning to identify even a subset of the ideas represented.
The best staging I've seen of this had the actors in T-shirts displaying which character he/she was, and in the finale of the piece where they all sing together, they were wandering around the stage haranguing each other. Brilliant!
Hat's off to the director, Great choice staging this in a free-speech zone, and the addition of the non-verbal symbols was inspired. The performances were very good as well.
Thanks! I am glad you noticed that. You'd be surprised how many people came to see the show that never noticed what I thought might even be overly obvious. If you're up in Massachusetts in May, come see our next production... William' Finn's "Falsettos"
i was JoAnne in Godspell in Tampa Florida three years ago and we were good no doubt, but this 'tower of babble' version with the signs and great subtle yet just perfect choreography plus the good voices each individual had naturally was so impressive no doubt i would've came and told you after the show how great it was had i been there. you all were great- let them know Julie from Miami/Tampa said so! lol. good day! :-)
I know there's a faster version of this song, but this is the closest version I have found to it. I know there's one version where the ending is double time, quite literally, just can't seem to find it anymore. : /
My high school is working on Godspell right now, and I play Fuller (to try to get more people in it, our director made the prophets seperate actors than the other cast). I love the use of the signs! Really good version!
just get done building it already!

Is the cast wielding their signs aggressively supposed to represent wars over ideas?

It's good, but it's boring. It's slow, and it didn't hold my attention. I actually just put it on pause. Vocals are nice though.

I'm doing this at my school right now and the tempo seems a little slow
but I do like the signs and the sound quality in this is really good

It seems too slow to hold the average person's attention... It's very good though, but I like the aternate lyrics on the soundtrack..

I think it's a shame they didn't put this song in the movie version. You guys do it justice. Good job!
