@beejamm1 Thats because back in the day they actually sung! Now days they do a lot of studio twiking! Why do you think that when an old skool artist performed back then on stage they sound the same as they did on the record, but when a new artist today performs on stage they sound better on the record?
I don't see why people feel like they have the need to compare music from then to now...What's the point? It's not going to change anything, nor is it going to change the brilliance of this song. So, just let it go.
@MichelleJ817 Exactly. Nicki Minaj uses crazy outfits and funny voices to cover the fact that she has no real talent. I bet she was hiding the thesaurus and rhyme book under that ridiculous little red riding hood cloak she wore at the grammys.
Actually, there were some good music in every era. 50's Tennesse waltz by Patti Paige 60's Stop in the name of love by Supremes, rhythm of rain by Cascades 70's Always on my mind,I will always love you, 80's MJ thriller, 90's My heart will go on by Celine Dion and in the 2000's Christina hurt and britney baby one more time. It's just I think music start turning into robotic, too much autotune by the mid 2000's. In 2010's only 1 out of 20 songs that sound remotely good.
@viczhou11 TRUE. Michael is the man! but my comment was about female artists of today. it's crap. katy perry, lady gaga, nicki minaj, kesha. there's no meaning behind any of that music what-so-ever. the 60's was truly the golden age of music.
I think it's wack that top comments on older 50's 60's songs are allways the same with younger kids saying they were born at the wrong time. I almost wish they weren't ever born so that they couldn't say when they wish they were born. I think it's great that we're born whenever and we got internet and are able to pick though the 50's-60's music and have it all accessible. I also didn't know how to spell accessible, I googled it. In the 60's I'd have to look in a dictionary, that would suck!
Even though in a way I feel like I was born in the wrong era, I'm also happy.. now I can find all of the best songs of that and many other eras on YouTube and enjoy them all! There's no one to stop you from listening to the music that YOU enjoy, so enjoy today for what it is! :)
I feel bad for those who are too young to have heard this song when it was making tracks up the top 40----Dick Clark----American Bandstand----Friday night dances----GREAT DANCE MUSIC and EVEN GREATER LYRICS!!!! <3
In Los Angeles, on I believe KFWB; one of the D J's, quite possibly Cleve Hermann, would play a jingle he put together right before he playey this record..
It went: "Postman, Postman, don't be slow, be like Elvis; GO MAN, Go"
when i was 14 some years ago i heard this song thought it was amazing and when walking to school with my friends i saw a postman and sang this to him ok not the whole song but the opening line he went bright red ....
i went universal studio at singapore and heard this song SO FREAKING NICE!, i miss old hollywood! not miss i mean I WAN TO EXPERIENCE OLD HOLLYWOOD, anyone noe anywhere where they still live old hollywood life?
My boyfriend is several hundred miles away and our method of communication is going to be letters for a while...so I have a feeling that this song is going to be exactly how persistent I am. My mail man is gonna hate me.
I danced with them back in the 60,s and got their new record for being on of the first 50 kids there. Then one of them just came back to KY It was over 100 out side and I went down and danced with her one more time to I will surive. I am 64 now. Pretty cool I was about 15 the first time.
I retired as a letter carrier 12 years ago but one summer in 1978 nearly every day when I approached this certain house on my route these school girls would start blasting The Carpenters version of Please Mr. Postman. I was only 31 then, anyway, anytime I hear any version I get nostalgic for a walk on Lake Angela Dr. in La Mesa Ca.
