Hey, do you know of anything like GarageBand for Windows systems? I'd like to do some stuff like this with trombone and guitar.

Cool, sounds neat. Mixcraft is a close equivalent for windows, i.e. a low cost digital audio workstation software for under $100. Doing a split-screen movie will be a bit tougher with low-cost software, but if you want to spend, Sony Vegas can do it. Or you can just use Microsoft Movie Maker for free, and fade the video back and forth between the two recordings every 15 seconds or so
