Look into HomeConcert for accompanying you on this piece. There's a great MIDI of the piece by an Italian named Galimberti. It works really well with HomeConcert.
It was actually just me playing over the CD with the piano and orchestra. I'm sure the recording of just the orchestra is out there, I just haven't looked.
so are u just playing the same speed as the pianist in the recording? or do u actually have an mp3 of the orchestral part? if u do i'll do anything to get my hands on it!!!!! please help!!!
I'm not aware of any pianists other than Rachmaninoff himself playing it at that tempo, and I could definitely hear where he wasn't with the recording--it is definitely him with a recording including both pianist and orchestra.
if u mean the part that ends at 0:29, its very very easy if u have huge hands, and rather easy if u have big hands, its alright if u have regular size hands (9-10 note reach), and pretty friggin irratating if u have hands an octave or smaller. hope that helped, i have a 9 note reach and playing those 5 note chords on the right hand was friggin irratating already...
I have a CD of this piece without the piano, however playing along with it requires you to match the tempo and feel of the original pianist who has been taken off the recording.I don't find it too hard playing along but my CD of the Rach3 is a lot harder to sync with.
The opening could be a distant church bell-like then gradually, the sound of this bell is getting nearer and nearer...hope you'd upload the whole concerto :)
i'm looking for a orchestra alone mp3 as well, would'nt it be awesome to play it on some expensive speakers next to your piano and feel like a real concerto?

this is really good technically (obviously), i'd just say you should take way more time over the opening

No. I already play those chords and I have no problem reaching for the chords :)
I mean the 8th notes just after the intro chords, is it really difficult?

Is the orchestral background you are playing along availbale anywhere? Is it with somebody elses piano playing, or is it just orchestral? Thanks!
