  • For those (like me) who train in something like Krav Maga or MMA just swap this for the Bass Rutten workouts.

  • Tony you have literally changed the course of a nation.. I cant wait for Plyo. I can't believe I look like I do now.

  • for a guy who has studied the martial art, this is slightly offensive.

  • @NHAdverts As others have said, it's not a martial arts training video, just a cardio video. It's just intended to add some activity with focus and some fun that will keep people motivated. The guy in the back is Wesley Idol, who is an IKKA 5th Dan, I think. He helped create the vid as a workout for people who are non-martial arts but just want to get in shape. Don't be offended, it might actually get some people interested in martial arts who otherwise wouldn't be.

  • @NHAdverts Then you have a problem, because this isn't martial arts. It's martial arts motions used as cardio. As someone who studied the martial art, I would have thought you would be able to appreciate it's usage as such.

  • That's awesome! like a cliff's notes version of Kenpo X

  • I'm tired!

  • is stacey and miranda even thoose guys name

  • Yo mama so sad she had ginger, stacey, miranda, and who-ever-that-other-guy is.

  • I have heard this is to easy??

  • Thank you so much for this video. My 2yr old got a hold of my Kenpo X dvd and destroyed it. I really loved it. I know this isn't the full video, but now I can at least see what all I'm supposed to do and make sure I'm doing it right.

  • @ginnhera If your 2 yr old got a hold of the "Kenpo" DVD and destroyed it you should be happy at least they learn some real moves from this Karate Mestre Tony H!!! Hahaha!!!

  • do you feel anything on this workout ?

  • Done 4 today, love doing this, feels like im tough ha ha

  • @MaGiKaLMin Good just don't try and defend yourself with what you learned. You might get a better sweat going by running from a would be attacker than to use this stuff!!! ha ha!!

  • The only thing that makes me mad about this is that they look like they're doing side kicks when they do back kicks.

  • Whoo what a great workout, i do this on Fridays! :)

  • I love this workout! I always look forward to Saturday Kenpo X!!

  • I'm thinking of just doing the kenpo everyday how would that work for me

  • I really don't think people should be crticizing this workout. because it is a very effective workout! who gives a fuck if its not as good as Billy Blanks shit.. when in all reality they are just as good if anything P90X keeps you motivated in a very positive manner and I have been doing this since it came out back in high school.. and It kept me in shape for basketball and still keeps my in shape for bikini season.. Don't talk shit just to talk shit!!!! I love this workout one of my favs! :)

  • ha ha feel tough when i do this workout, I am going to add it to my routine once a week!! first day!

  • i really enjoyed this...it feels a bit awkward at start but it's a lot more fun then doing push ups / pull ups whole hour....

  • This looks ridiculous.

  • If he has to put kenpo in the name I wish he would at least add "cardio" in front. Most of their technique is just soooo wrong. I don't want my kenpo labeled like this.

  • I'm actually in a Kenpo class so I know the real reason for the "X" in Kenpo X.

  • Relax your breathing. Part two of this workout is trying to take on a Gracie Black Belt after thinking this crap can make you fight!!! Hahaha!!!

  • @VTGuffMstr He never said it will help you fight. its to burn calories and for cardio

  • @rockstr56 agred

  • @VTGuffMstr This is a cardio workout mate......get off your high horse. I'm sure you 'know your stuff', but no one claims that this workout teaches you how to fight in any way. It makes me laugh how all of the armchair martial artists and cage fighters come out of the woodwork to criticise others on youtube lol. If you were such an expert, you'd realise the idiocy of your comments before you wrote them.

  • @curt Nice Sid, very well thought out but you have a few incorrect points. First off, its not "High Horse" its hung like a horse. Second, I love it how every guru Cliff out there that has some new exercise system piggy backs its marketing off of the workings of another true system. Third Santo, step onto the mat with me and we'll see who is sitting in an armchair and who is sporting an arm cast. Find out quick who real BJJ Mestre is!!!

  • @VTGuffMstr Picking fights and making silly, meaningless threats on YouTube I see? I rest my case. Truly pathetic lol!!

  • AFTER DOING KENPO FOR A FEW WEEKS, I FEEL LIKE I'M PREPARED TO TAKE ON ANYONE IN A BAR FIGHT! LOL!

  • i hate the kicks, it bothers my hip. but i did this 2 times today, first time i didnt put much effort... but the 2nd time i went full out as if i were really fighting someone... i sweated like if i came out of a shower.

  • Lol, at 0:11 he wasn't just looking at the heels ;)

  • I did this today... Good cardio, but could have been more intense cardio for me. I'm not super fit either. I wanted more of a sweat. I found the core synergistics and Legs / Back videos were more cardio for me.

  • @lovsoup Try insanity pure cardio.

  • @NovaScotiaNewfie Thank you for suggestion of Insanity :)

  • @NovaScotiaNewfie F Insanity, lol!

  • Im ganna do this today later on im my day

  • this is an insult to japanese budo.

  • i love you ppl that put these abbreviated P90X workouts on here, awesome!

  • where did u download all the p90x videos?

  • It's amazing, all the twisting will work your abs flat as yuor intensity is kept high, you use muscle resistance and cardiovascular strength... ;-) enjoy

  • The jump switches, knees and kicks are the most strenuous moves in Kenpo X, for me.

  • I did this workout today at the gym. I loved it and for sure made me sweat. I do workout on the eliptical, bike and walk on the treadmill 5 days a week. I will have to say they aren't the same. I look forward to doing more of the P90X at the gym.

  • This looks fun-reminds me of Tae Bo.

  • @neteraset9 Cardio kickboxing/karate has been around for years tonnes of names for it, pretty much all the same.

  • im never actually out of breath on these or breathing heavy, so it feels as if i might as well just use an elliptical or cycle for some cardio. It leaves me sweaty and my heart beating though, so i guess its all in the mind as well

  • im in 6th grade and i did this n phys ed it was very fun

  • i took kenpo and this is what we did to warm up

and i do p90x and love it

  • I can't believed I survived this workout!!! This is way harder than it looks.

  • Yes! Thank you sooooooo much for posting! I lost my DVD and didn't want to skip a workout, now I can remember what to do thanks to this. Time for me to go break a heavy sweat!

Also, Tony the Marine is AWESOME in this workout! As is Tony Horton himself, of course. But Dreya Weber is still my fave from this series :)

  • i did this video in my fintess class the other day. OMG, was it amazing! one of my favourites (:

  • Thank you so much for posting it!!!! I have a test on kickboxing in gym based on this video and this really helped me study!!!!! :)

  • Were doing this in my conditioning class in school! I absolutely love it give me a great workout and gets me prepaired for another great season of football!

  • Watching this brief clip, it just makes me miss Martial Arts even more.... However... the female was doing side kicks all sorts of wrong, ok so maybe all of them were.My theory is... if one is going to do these move, PRETEND like you're going to hit someone and not just moving your limbs through air. I don't know, hell that is how I was taught. *shrugs*. Most people are different. please don't bash me, I'm just speaking MY MIND

  • @kitsangel You are right if your talking about practicing for fighting ability but this is not their goal at all, they are just exercising.

  • That fuckin ginger pisses me off

  • @SkaterMutantNinja

Same, I sometimes dont feel like doing it cause of her annoying fcking face

  • @grovestreet lol so mean! XD

  • @SkaterMutantNinja

    Why lol?

  • Somehow different than Tae Bo? Pardon my ignorance.

  • what the you are doing is repetitive motions for muscle memorization. Its the same thing martial arts does, practice makes it easier to do, without thinking. This isn't about teaching how to fight, its to get you in shape in case you ever need to :-). In reality everybody pretends they can fight, its the god complex.

  • this is not trying to teach u any kind of martial arts moves directly, it is there to help you get cardio and build endurance.

  • I LOVEEEE KENPO

  • I got the P90X DVD's and I have to say that the exercises are excellent, but this is not Kenpo. I have a black belt in Kenpo and this are very badly executed techniques. Don't drill this and then think you now can fight. You'll have a rude awakening!

  • @religionpoisons i agree i do shito ryu. doing this exercise once a week won't make you block or punch. they assume the bad guy is at a perfect 90 degrees from them. well that's nice but targets move. and the side kick? side snap kick. Teach side THRUST kick. that'll wear you out.

  • @sociopathpsych I used to learn Shito Ryu too! What dojo? Mine was Alan Thilak Shito Ryu dojo back in Kerala in India.

  • @aneet84 shito ryu genbu kai. in kansas. fumio demura is my instructor. well he's in california but i've met him before. hell of a cool guy. :)

  • @religionpoisons

The same rude awakening traditional martial artists got when the UFC begun :-)

  • @nick1985nz i am a black sash in northern shaolin gung fu and wushu and i'll tell you right now ufc is complete crap. We had a few matches again mma fighters and not a single one of them came even close to winning. The same as this kenpo crap on p90x is shit too. I dont mean to attack you personally but i'm honestly sick of hearing about UFC in america. i would love to see one of those fighters attack a shaolin warrior monk. Besides. without traditional marital arts there would be no ufc.

  • @ShadowxVincent lol your a douche

  • @ShadowxVincent i am a trained MMA fighter, specialize in Muay Tai and Jui Jit Su... we challenged shaolin warrior monk to a contest and we absolutley destroyed them

  • @mrandreabargnani oh yes you definitely went to China and challenged the real ones.

  • @ShadowxVincent lol a 16 year old high school wrestler could beat u. ur kung fu is crap. It does not work.

  • @stacrafty LOL aren't you an ignorant little bitch.proved my point. You can kick a shaolin monk 10 times straight in the balls and they don't flinch. and you think a 16 year old high school wrestler could beat kung fu?they aren't even trained to kick.they lean over when they fight. just kick a highschool wrestler in the face. they're in the perfect position for it leaning over like that. and considering a shaolin monk can shatter concrete with a kick, they can easily knock out a wrestler with one

  • @ShadowxVincent not the state champion that went to my school hes crazy. one of the best wrestlers ive seen hes a great athlete

  • @ShadowxVincent

lol nice one, ur either a delusional retard or trolling us

  • @Acoontey- Yup, the faster you go the more coordination you will need. Hence, the more you practice many of these moves the more you will get.

  • I'm not particularly sure why this is called "Kenpō X" It looks more like "Shotokan X" or "Tang Soo Do X."

  • I heard this also helps Coordination, is this true?

  • kenpo x is awesome. i did it today, this is my third day doin P90X. i did cardio x yesterday. both with ab ripper at the end. i put in a ton of sweat in both, i am driven by the limit!!

  • @mroddydawg are you following the program?? i got kenpo x till day 6!

  • "loose" and "lose" may look the same, but they are very different words.

  • Wow I just finished doing this one. It was so easy XD

Core Synergistics and Plyometrics are still my favourites though.

  • This is copyrighted material. How do people get away with posting this?

  • greaaaaat!!! i was doing it!!!

  • BIG HELP!!! Thanks man. Just realized my kids scratched up my Kenpo CD. Googled KenpoX, found ur vid. I have to say, since I almost know the routine, this worked BETTER than the CD! Cheers!!!

  • Tony, get better looking girls! They don't have to be gorgeous, but Vanessa is one of the hardest looking women to look at. I am trying to learn the moves real quick so i can write them down and skip watching the videos she is in.

  • @trendon That's so bad.

  • Thanks helped alot lost my cd used this instead thanks!

  • knuckles!

  • God I cannot do the twist and pivot ones, it seems like they move their feet one at a time but both mine move at the same time and eventually I get out of position

  • day 6 tmrw. i might skip this because i need my day 1 to start on a monday.

  • These moves look pretty easy compared to the cardio kickboxing and tae bo i've been doing for 8 years. I'm about to do it today (day 6 :]) so i'll see.

  • @Senshi2k6 tae bo is the sorry excuse for a workout.

  • @eahs07

It may be, but gives me WAY more of a hard time than kenpo X did, it's not even close. Maybe you did the begniner tae bo and not the cardio or advanced Work out? I know the beginner tae bo dvd is ridiculously easy. Although, I just sub out kenpo X, for the kenpo in p90x plus.

  • @Senshi2k6 you may be right. not sure which tae bo i have done.

  • A good thing this is for exercise only not one technique done correctly. (okay the upward block is close)

sad thing is, the techniques could be done right and be every bit as effective a workout

  • I lost 5 pounds in a week on p90x...I wasn't expecting to lose that much lol

  • @tswagg504

5 pounds is actually a retarted amount of fat to lose a week unless it's water weight. You also risk losing a lot of muscle to since you are not giving your body any energy. You should aim for 1-4 pounds lost, more than that you are not doing yourself a favor in the long run.

  • @Senshi2k6 ...your right...turns out that was mostly water weight that I lost, which is disappointing. I noticed that my body fat% dropped 1 or 2%. But, at 24%, I have a long way to go.

  • LMAO at everyone who is really taking the time to critique the effectiveness of this...kenpo x is A CARDIO WORKOUT... it is supposed to make you sweat, just like tae bo. Nobody cares about what you think you know about MA, because NONE of it applies to this workout...

  • @thaiboxer5 False pretense! Don't even try to compare the two. He should have called it Jazzercise not Kenpo. Let's see what would happen if Tony used his P90X Kenpo against World Martial Arts champ Billy Blanks. It wouldn't be any Dr. Seuss Book because the only "who" Horton will be hearing is the Doctor trying to wake him up...

  • @VTGuffMstr Who cares what he calls it and why would you compare it to someone else's workout. You have the freedom to choose whatever work out you'd like. The bottom line is that if you work out hard to this and follow the moves, you're sweating and burning calories like a mad man. 6-800 calories for sure! Stop hating.

  • @extrememetaldrummer1 If I wanted to burn 6-800 calories I would just get on top of your mother. It doesn't matter what you call that because I call it a good time!!! Just kidding Sid! Hahahaha! Anyways that stupid shit he does with the Ginger at 2:57 makes some people think they can fight. Someone is going to get hurt thinking this crap is for Self Defense after doing this stupid shit. Nobody goes on Broadway after taking Zumba lessons!!!

  • @VTGuffMstr So because a few stupid people might walk away thinking "Now I can fight!", you're going to hate on the entire concept? Using martial arts motions as cardio has its benefit, and the majority of people who do the Kenpo X routine know this.

If you are BJJ trained, then good for you. I thought BJJ also taught discipline and how not to wave your training around your head as a d-bag flag, but I could be wrong.

  • @GoateeMan Tony Horton is going to get people hurt!!! Plain and simple!!! Don't flash your Sidbag attitude on a cardio routine. Example... since my articulation can't seem to get through to these White Belts 2:57-3:06!!! The rest of this workout is fine. Just cut that garbage out Tony the Tiger!!!

  • hey guys, im doing p90x right now, but myself i rather jogging for cardio over kenpo x, do you think it would make any difference if i were to jogg instead of doing my kenpo x?

  • @tank89 imo i say stay with kempo x b/c with jogging especially jogging and a steady pace you won't burn as much calories as you would doing circuit training such as the kempo x dvd, however, if you switch up the pace of your joggin say 1 speed for 1 min, and then a higher speed for 2 min. & u keep doin that for the whole time ur joggin you'll burn alot of calories

  • @tank89 you'd probably get a similar result as it relates to cardio, but kenpo x also works on balance, focus, and overall body strength and control. It's not like lifting strength, but body mastery strength...its tough to explain...

  • @Theplaymaker127 \

I aggree, I actually think the purpose of the kenpoX is the stretch out the muscles you used the day before in legs and back. I know my legs always feel way better after I'm done. Although, the regular p90's cardio dvd's were very very very easy and short, they felt like warmups to me. I'm starting to think that maybe Tony just assumes weightlifter's can't do any hard cardio? The cardio is just not to the level as the strenth/endurance dvds.

  • @Senshi2k6

it isnt supposed to be at a high level of cardio

it is used between resistance days to give your body a rest, whilst still giving you a decent fat burning/overall body co-ordination workout

  • @dirtbikerpro

I know, I understand now that it is in p90x for a reason, that's why I decided not to replace it. I just noticed a pattern in the p90 series that there isn't really any hardcore cardio workout at all. Except plyometrics, which i'm not sure is really a pure cardio workout.

  • @Senshi2k6 I myself am playing a sport so i decided to modify some of the cardio days, keeping the core part of p90x intact but adding more conditioning exercises, like biking, hills, intervals, ladders and stadiums. And yea sometimes i like to do kenpo before or after a conditioning day work out as a warm up or cool down.

  • This isn't to teach you anything the soul purpose is for cardio and to make you sweat them calories.

  • a good workout, but they are doing their kicks completely wrong and the blocks would not be effective at all, pretty useless if u wanna learn anything abt self defense, just makes u sweat alot lol

  • @ashake123456 thats the point dude

  • hahah these moves would be effective if they actual did them right exept some like the back kicks which are soooo useless unless your hitting a door you cant open....lol.....dont try those blocks either....

  • Take my advice and run. More straightforward, and your friends won't laugh at you when you try to learn how to do karate by watching a dvd.

  • Just did this today. was drenched :)

  • do the front side back kicks WITHOUT putting your foot down like we do in our Kenpo class, and they need to cock their legs more especially for the back kicks

  • i wish audra was there instead of that girl

  • It's my favorite so far!!

  • I love Tony horton, x to my fellow p90x users let's BRING IT!!!

  • I became pissed off at Tony Horton during this workout beyond belief. He absolutely sucks as explaining the form and cue-ing when to start. He sucks as a instructor.

  • It would be nice if he would explain how to do each move properly before he talks like John Moschita (The micromachines guy) saying 54321 like an auctioneer. By the time you have a clue of what they are doing the exercise is OVER. The whole workout should only take 50 minutes but because of this inablitiy it takes 2 and a half ours because of the constant need for rewinding. TONY SUCKS in this workout!

  • @DJ80s i would diss the man that bad, i understand your position cause i too was like "WTF". but i just keep in mind that its a workout in a dvd. its designed to be intense non stop. sucks you dont get the 1 on 1 attention a trainer would give you. but non the less, this work out was fun

  • @DJ80s You'll do the kenpo x 13 times during one round of P90X. It's much better this way - otherwise by week 4 you'd probably be bitching how too much time goes into explaining the moves rather than doing the exercise.

  • @DJ80s there's more time in-between exercises than this video is showing and he does explain them when they're not self-explanatory. this video has cut out the talking parts...

  • @DJ80s

Actually Tony has said many times he doesn't care if it's not pretty or the form isn't perfect. He said many times that you just need to keep moving.

  • My fave workout in the program. It's the best cardio routine I've ever done. You stay moving, it's a lot of fun, you continue to burn calories. Plus you can really enjoy it. Way more fun then say, running on a treadmill for an hour.

  • @girldevl Its my fav too! I had soo much fun doing this Kenpo, I suck some of the other ones, but I'm keeping at it!!

  • i cant picture myself doing this as a 250 pound bodybuilder!

  • @vincnet11 Doooo iiiiit! >:O NAOW

  • after starting p90x i started to stop drinking soda and now after 10 days or so i have pretty much kicked the stuff...water all the way.

  • This one is my favorite one!! ....I am on Week 2 , Day 13....Im Bringing it!!!

  • This particular workout "Kenpo X" is only as intense as the amount of effort you put into each movement made.

  • This is true, it depends on your effort. after sore biceps

( REALLY SORE) back, and chest. i do this at my gym in the boxing studio with a punching bag. Man its fun, its like an hour and youll burn the 400-500 calroies u would on a boaring ass treadmil, plus after doing some heavy exercies the previous days this is perfect for recovering yet still staying active. i think doing the kempo n yoga are part of what confuse ur muscles, u cant go hard everyday you''ll plateau. i lost more wieght

  • Great point. I believe Tony points this out during the effort. If you don't move your body with each step and if you don't put effort behind it...then you aren't doing anything.

  • @jthorne88 just like eating...

  • This is my least favorite workout of the series. I call it Wimpo-X cause it's so easy. The only reason the trainers are sweating is because of the hot studio lights above them. Other than that P90X rocks!

  • it's been a greulish 2 weeks, but i've lost 8 lbs doing these workouts. i feel great after too, more energetic, and better stamina. i do the regiment workout during the day, and now jog a mile and walk one also. tomorrow starts doubles week. capped by a jog around the track. wish me luck!!

  • Great program. I prefer this type of cardio over regular boring shit that goes on at the gym.

  • check out the ab workout on my page.. ppl

  • does this acutally help you be a better fighter

  • no.

  • no lol this is cardio

  • i want this SO bad, i'll be 17 in march and im in my junior year of high school, i want this so i can look the best i can for my senior year.....

how often should i do the vids, and does this really take an hour or are there more than one video that you do for the hour a day?

oh and i need to change my diet, im 250 friekin pounds, i really need this, and i want to do it right the first time

  • @CORRUPT333R the working out part is the easy part cause you know it'll be over in an hour. The Diet is a 24 hour a day struggle. My best advise is don't have the tv on all the food commericals make me very hungry. I believe in you and you can do this.

  • Go to google and look up the p90x calendar. It tells you all you need to know.

  • @CORRUPT333R The videos are once a day. Some range from an hour to about an hour and a half. Time doesn't matter though. What matters is how you push yourself during that time. I noticed my diet changed as I started this program because I was dedicated to making a change. I suggest getting the program - taking photos of yourself, and telling yourself you're going to it. No excuses. Then just DO it. It's hard, yes - but so is becoming a doctor, or starting a company. It takes dedication and work

  • he must be one sore m/f everyday!

  • takes a while to recover if you last through the whole hour lol. I was ahlf dead after...

  • @ndk2k4 i couldn't even make the hour, died half way through and was sore for 3 days.. haha

  • wow, did you eat before you started? Kenpo is the toughest one for me after the yoga stretches.

  • im training for boxing and the workouts are similar, this aerobic exercise will kick your ass

  • @foxredimpala

yea i took kenpo for 3 years and i love it, he's missing some things but he has it down, it is a very good workout

  • hey guys how about fitness4us. co

  • this guy has a slow hands, but it's good to burn calories no doubt

  • its not for fighting its a workout lmao

  • this is for exercise and cardio u fkn dumass piece of shit

  • watch your mouth boy. some people think this is for fighting i'm here to tell them its not.

  • lmao yeah
