Their indecision killed many lives and they were not willing to provoke a war with China and her inexhaustible manpower. At that time, America did not even recognize communist china and American troop strength was low. MacArthur's pacific force based in Japan was less than half what was on paper. Most of his family died(he thought his brother was dead too). why didnt he just giv up? o no he didnt give up. He thought the South korea was responsible for their death, so why didnt he just give up? he had hatred, thus went to the other side. maybe if UR family got killed u would give up, my family gets killed, you bet ur ass i want revenge.

shooting suspected collaborators is not practical. they should have been detained for questioning, then released and discreetly kept under surveillance to see if they truely are involved willingly.

do you know why civil wars are much more devastating than war between other peoples or races? because it is really hard to distinguish between the enemy and the friend. the only difference is the uniform they wear, whereas if it's between two different ethnicities, you could tell by skin color, language, and other stuffs which makes it way easier to differentiate.

Right, I don't really understand why people criticize this movie and the people in it so harshly. I mean, the viewers should also know that this was the life of war; killing anyone who is considered an enemy to the country. I understand that if it was one of your family members being exectuted, you would have probably done the same thing Jintae did. Anyway, this is why way causes many deaths for many numerous reasons.
