The 1995 movie set their story during WWI (just look at their fashions!) The book is completely different. It's set in the late 1800s in England and the father dies of fever in India instead of in battle.

There is an English version of this movie that stays very true to the book, but I can't remember any of the actors' names.

I have seen this and the Shirley Temple version of A/The Little Princess. I love both versions. I would like to see the version from the 80's.. There is one from the 80's as well, right? I think the author of the book "A Little Princess" was a lady called Frances Hudgson Burnett.
