If it wasn't the bombs in SM64 it was the explosive "planet" in SMGalaxy and before that Bowser only ever fought in the only rooms that had something that could kill him in it barely even guarded. The entire reason I hate Mario is because its so contrived. Yeah, maybe powerups wasn't the right word...

It's doesn't really count as a real fight.

Still, those RPG games were wicked fun and Awesome, so they get a pass from me.

MSGalaxy was arguably worse in this aspect--Bowser himself actually TRANSPORTS Mario to the only planet that can hurt him, also conveniently the location of those damn Stars. WTF?

1. As quick as Bowser may be, it's not like he's dealing with some average joe. Smashing solid brick with his bare hands, running across a battlefield and up a mountain in minutes, wall jumping like some kind of wuxia hero...it's only natural that he'd have trouble keeping up with Mario

Sure, you're going to see those things on how anyone can use the powerups, but have you ever thought it might just be something very few people would be able to do? Power-ups is Mario's power, just as speed is Sonic's. Yes, it might be somewhat of a cheap tactic Mario uses, but he still is able to prove himself on the battlefield.
