If your that paranoid about the led, just desolder it off. Also you don't know how to spray paint. You were too close to the object and you sprayed way too much at once. The first coat shouldn't even fully be opaque. Doing the way you did it will provide a finish that looks like crap and can easily be damaged

5 minutes ago, I followed your instructions and made them work. My Flip had slightly different wiring than the one in the video. The tape did not hide the light that much. So, I have to go and break the little micro bulb. In addition to that, I lost some of the screws, clumsy me. But your instruction were VERY HELPFUL! Thanks!

What's cool, besides the fact that you can turn off the red light in the setup, is that after all of that work, I can still see his red light glowing through the tape!!! But, all is not lost!
