Kapustin's music is so exciting! I am working on Op 40 # 6 for it's happy vibe, beautiful structure, but man, killer tempo. This is next. Will I live long enough?! Anyone else working on them? These recordings and the few videos of Mr. Nikolai show that **IT"S POSSIBLE** to play them with power and speed.
I'm SO HAPPY to have discovered these etudes. Omigod, they are brilliant compositions. Now I have to live enough years to be able to play some of them.
He's the first major piano player, master-composer to write out jazz pieces that use rhythm, form and orchestration raised to the level of Liszt, Rachmaninov or Chopin!
Learning to play this but in a veeery slow tempo :D :/

I think he alludes to earlier etudes in the set. I heard a little of the Reverie in there.

Wow, I like the ending accents in the last 20 seconds. It's something I haven't heard before in other recordings.
