Mike is right, the original can't (in my and his opinion) be bettered but you can re-interpretate it to good effect and of course Eva did that wonderfully well. Mike never does anything less than a wonderful version of a well known song, and often betters it - but here, well in my opinion, I could quite happily listen to it all day but ..........

This song touches me a little deeper than most. Whenever I hear Eva, I think of the lines from Vincent -- "this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you..." Hers has been my favorite version of this song...and now yours has settled in next to it...

OK......now I've mopped the tears away I Just want to tell you how beautiful that was! I love metal detecting and spend hours and hours ( not finding anything really) just wandering around golden stubble fields. I know this isn't what the song's about but it reminds me of the days I used to be out in the fields with my ex-husband.We "walked in fields of gold" and I miss him being there with me so much. When I learnt this song I never thought about metal detecting, you have brought a brand new demention to it. lol I actually have a really good metal detector, that I haven't used for years, the last time I used it, I found fifty quid and hundreds of Dinky toys on a beach in Carnac. Mike, you have a way of covering a familiar song that makes it sound like I've never heard it before! I'm not saying it's as good as Eva Cassidy's or even Sting's, but it's definitely very nice, and it's your own. For an hour's work, it's a lot better than I would have done!

yeah well I did try to learn when we did guitars in music in 2nd year at school and I think I managed G C and D7 chords but that was 6 years ago now so I doubt I could still remember them!

Hi Aka.. yes of course it would be great if you posted a video.. and I would add a comment.. as for which strings.. that's a little more difficult. it comes from many years of practice.. try to pick out the tune or maybe just strum the chords.. it will take time and patience.. M

Hi Aka sorry I don't do tabs or read music.. when I was 14 I just listened .. with you tube you can often see the chords .. I played this with a capo on the second fret and the chords are basically G Em7 C Am7 D back to G.. hope this helps.. M
