Or to put it another way. Love it! It may not be high-brow but it touches a chord!

No wonder they were zo enthusiastic in the Netherlands.

  • This is GREAT, thanks for posting it. I have a copy of The French Song on a 45!

  • This is recording in the Netherlands.

a view years ago in my hometown...

  • Searched for 'The French Song' and then found I received wonderful bonus with other melodies also, - need many more songs and melodies of this ilk to brighten often dreary 'entertainment' reality TV, murder and crime scene investigations etc.. World needs much more of this. Sure to please, thank you.

  • Ahh, sweet memories! Isn't she GREAT!!! St. Vital Manitoba's Gift to the World Of Music.

  • "The French Song" brings back sweet memmories of my first true love.

"Now, when the sun says good day to the mountain, and the night says Hello to the dawn.

I'm alone with my dreams on the hill top. And I can still hear his voice though he's gone.

I hear from my door a love song through the wind. It brings back sweet memmories of you...."

  • "The French Song" Lyric in French:

Quand le soleil dit bonjour aux montagne

Et que la nuit rencontre le jour

Je sui seul avec malais sur la montagne

    Une voix ma r'apellez toujours

Ecoute m'ais pas tout les chansons du vent

    R'appellez des souveneirs de toi

Quand le soleil dit bonjour aux montagne

Je suis seul, je ne vieux pensez que toi

  • Lucille Starr has a voice like Edith Piaff. Not really beautiful, but full of emotion.

The French Song (according to internet sources) was written by 2 Americans: Harry Pease & Larry Vincent. It was recorded by Lucille in '63, '64, or '65 (sources don't agree).

Lucille also made recordings w/ her husband Bob Regan (The Canadian Sweethearts) until they split up in the 70s.

In 1967 another wonderful recording of this song was made by the Sandpipers.

  • My grandparents brought her records home from Canada in the 60's! Never heard of her before that, but loved her even as a little girl, hehe.

    Still wonderful!!

  • Lucille Starr is Canada's Sweetheart and Northern Maine. We all grew up with the French Song.

    ppeddie

  • Right singer, right title but wrong song to go with the title. Luclafor, love your sense of humour!! :o) Rock on, Tommy!!

  • I have liked lucelles music for many many years, thanks to u tube i have seen vidio of her for the first time she is great

  • Why is it called the french song?

    please somebody ?

    there's not a f*****g word in french

  • You have a very discriminating ear. Félicitations! You are now ready to learn Chinese!

  • I don't get it

  • It IS originally a French song, she sung it in French most of the time. But translated in English for y'all who don't understood French :D

Love the French version the best, bon juste :D

  • Et Lucille est celle qui a fait la traduction anglaise.

  • I'm not really sure what the hell you were listening too. The whole last song is in french. You obviously have a language barrier. Learn french and then maybe you would understand what was going on.

  • Eh bien ma p'tite fille, non seulement le français je le parle, mais il se trouve que c'est ma langue maternelle. Je me suis fourgué parce que je n'ai pas écouter la vidéo jusqu'au bout. Voilà

And if you don't get a word of what I just wrote, well then learn french...

  • Is not french music !!!!

  • I am a long time Lucille Starr fan and have many of her songs. However I only have one yodel song(Yodel Love Song). I know she did the yodelling on the Beverly Hillbillies for cousin Pearl. Does anyone know where I can find more of her yodel songs?

  • I first heard Lucille Star singing, I think the title is, "Just Out For Fun" on a jukebox in Dawson City in the Yukon (Canada) when I was 17 in 1964. Since then I have loved her & believe her voice to be one of the best I have ever, ever heard. Then she seemed to drop off the planet. I tried to find her - & now, here she is. I am so happy she is alive, obviously well & doing what she was born to do - sing!

  • Bob & Lucille, The Canadian Sweethearts.Way before she went out on her own. They did some great Rockabilly in the begining.

  • I sant this song many times when I was a young gir. My dad used to say 'Sing the 'Montagne' song ... He got confused in the name

  • I saw Lucille Starr live in Ottawa many years ago!! I grew up with my Mom singing the French Song to us as well as Jolie Jacqueline. Thanks so much for posting this! I rated 5 stars and favorited it and subscribed!!

  • Hi, I know this reply is five months after your post, but if you are still interested in Lucille Starr songs, I have over 75 on my PC. Most are from LP's, 45's and CD's of which I own. If you are interested I can find a way for you to have these sons.

  • I would love to have her songs! I can't find them any where.

    P. Peddie
