Libya has its human right issues, but in other respects the people live much better than in any other african country.

The west is very picky about what human rights matter. The human right of a citizen to a home, in his own country is not given great importance in the western democracy. You get people without homes, or having to house share due to excessive rents of the 'property barons'.

But we do have the right to free speech. However, to me both of these rights are equally important.

Well, America isn't exactly a democracy. The Electoral College is the deciding point of the Presidential election not the Majority vote (the Rest of America). So the President is elected by a few hundred or so people compared to the millions. So basicly the leader of the free world is voted in by only a handful or less people.
