Because, due to Walt's people skills and lousy recruiting, he wouldn't have been able to get Pitt to the next level and the atmosphere in the program wasn't always tight. Dave Wannstedt went 9-4 in 2008, and, with his recruiting, things will get better!
No, Dave Wannstedt may not be as good with Xs and Os as Walt was, and people point to the fact that Wanny went 16-19 in his first 3 season at Pitt. But, you have to remember that, although Pitt was coming off winning seasons under Harris, due to Harris' lousy recruitjng, Wanny did not inherit as much talent and as good a program as people think. By the way, Pitt's 9 wins in 2008 were the most they had since 1982. I say they get at least 10 wins soon!
I actually like when those non BCS Schools surprise everyone and upset a major school in a BCS Bowl Game because it kind of reminds me of the NCAA Tournament when those little known schools like Davidson and George Mason go on amazing runs

2004 was the year Utah football hit it's peak. Ever since then it's been all downhill. Their win over BYU in 2005 was a fluke. Now BYU is at the top of the conference where it belongs and it's all about Cougar domination. Get used to it chumps. GO BYU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't like the 2004-2005 NCAA football season. WVU lost to Pitt and lost to Florida State in the Gator Bowl. Either way, we would not have won the Fiesta Bowl considering what happened to Pitt..

Carson Palmer's Usc Trojans is all I can come up with... after losing to Utah, they didn't lose for 20 somethin games. That Utes team could've played with anyone that year. if you are from a small conference like the mountain west... you can't be a Big East team and lose 3 or 4 games to get into a BCS. you have to play PERFECT. BCS conferences have it made. they don't need to play their hardest every game
