when Colin left, that's when they died for me... then again, I knew the guys when they were still playing bowling alleys in Michigan and people thought hit the lights was me telling them to literally turn the lights off. When they played at Michigan State, they gave us a shout out cause we always hung out after the shows. Those were better days.
everyone on here is dumb as shit and is clearly not in the music business almost all bands use auto-tune and every single live performance released is remixed in a studio then synced with the video. what you hear on a studio recording is more than 50 percent how good the person who recorded it and mixed it is and 50 percent the band.
@MrLoganbeach Well of course they take a soundboard and re-mix it for home listening, but autotune? Nah. Not for bands like this. A good example is Incubus. No auto-tune, you can hear the 'natural', of course the tracks are re-mixed because... well, mixing is what MAKES music, live OR recorded. Some kickass bands can sound like shit without a good sound engineer. It's fucking annoying when the guitar is too loud, the voice is too quiet, etc.

I loved The Old School Hit The Lights Members. More Solid Punk Sound, although nick is a pretty talented lad. He has really good vocals but has brought the band more into the POP punk scene.
The old guitarist/new singer's better than this dude. Not whiney. Still a bit whiney though. Is everyone trying to do a Jordan Pundik impression? If so, why? Go for more trashy sounds like Fat Mike! :)

I haven't been able to get into a lot of new 21st century Pop-Punk bands because I've heard it all before by other bands. 90s stuff was good and the bands that have continued into the 90's are good coz they progress. But bands like YM@6 and ATL etc, they make me was hook myself to their ball sack and make their voices break.

ATL I was a fanboy for a while, got out of it, they play good live imo-but I know they've blown up to be way too big now. I could make a full length EPs worth of pop punk guitars in 1 day.
Yeah, but YM@6 are aiming for like Indie now. That's even worse. Sounding the same like th ePigeon Detectives and The Fratellis etc.
But like, the band I'm in atm, we initially aimed for a pop-punk sort of thing. Then we all just thought 'screw this' And now we sort of, merghing more hardcore pop-punk acts like Four Year Strong, with scatty Punk bands like old green day and NoFX. It's so much more satisfying and not whiney at all.
@PunkRawk90sStyle Yeah. But I think they were less gay than the avg. pop punk to begin with. Like "If I Were In Your Shoes" isn't so much pop punk as it is alternative. But besides the point, indie will always be awesome, and I love The Fratellis. Dude! Same here, my band started off pop punk and we got to the point "this is gay" and now we're experimental because we have nice acoustic stuff, serious eletric songs, and breakdowns (we have planned). It's a lot more satisfying, I agree 100%.
@BashYouLongtime The Fratellis's first albumw as really good. Second one was disapointinhg. It's a good job they aren't together any more. The only thing that's difficult though about starting heavy with breakdowns etc is that you can ony get to a certain heavyness before it sounds trashy. Then yu have to go lighter. But cool :)

And breakdowns aren't going to be overused. We have very different songs. Jason Mraz type acoustic songs, a Bowling For Soup like punk song, There For Tomorrow serious kind of song w/ a solo, and a pretty upbeat trashy song like What The Hell Is A Gigawatt by FYS. So I dig the variety a lot more.

This is absolutely classic. Colin really did make the band what they are today, but I have to say that Nick has carried the torch nicely. I don't think he's as vocally talented as Colin, but he's done his job. This is the only band, that I truly feel has "progressed" throughout the years. Most people use "progress" to cover up the fact a band put out a shitty album, but HTL has gotten better through the years. Through a new lead singer and all. HTL for life. BTW, I love Omar's fro. Haha

I think both singers brought something awesome to the table and both did a good job in their own right. Hit the Lights was, and still is an awesome band, regardless of the singer :]
i absolutely love the new coast to coast ep...i just wish it was colin singing it...but nick does a good job...and plus i know that colin is much happier not being on the road anymore...trust me on this
Not trying to discredit Nick's efforts at all, I think he's got a much higher vocal range than Colin but let's not fool ourselves, Colin is the better singer of the two despite of that. I do agree however, that their new album is a lot catchier and bouncier, I like that a lot and Nick is doing an excellent job at keeping this band alive and writing good music. I hope this band never goes away because they are the best pop punk out there right now.
Regardless who is singing now, hit the lights still kicks more ass than a Bunch of up and coming bands that are on the market now. Colin was good, but its good to see Nick up there since he was the in the original band. And the new guitarist they got who took Nick's spot is good too, so it works. I like the writing style now between the new 5 of them.

Man, imagine how Nick feels with all of you dickheads complaining about his voice. Colin is gone. That chapter is done. Hit the Lights is doing the best they can to keep bringing you people music without making anymore drastic changes to the band. Granted, Nick isn't as strong a vocalist, but it feels comfortable that it's at least somebody talented from the original band up there as a frontman. His voice has always been in the recordings, just as backup. The new cd sounds great, no doubt about.

Wow, Colin is one of those rare pop punk breed of singers that despite their lack of vocal range is able to deliver the notes on the right pitch and harmonization like on their albums, I wish more singers devoted more energy in sounding this good rather than jump around on stage like morons.

Oh yeah~ I like how they just seem to be doing their own thing, totally ignoring eachother! I don't know, it just seems like they're doing their own thing all at the same time, sometimes going out of the lines and it sounds good! Truly... Um? What is with all the hate? Don't like how they sound now, well... go listen to the older albums with the music from the singers you like! Anyways, I love this song and it's beat... xD Haha! The afro! xD A few kids at my school have them, but not as big as his xDDD They did amazing live, and I love how they sound! When I saw the HTL live video(was listening to NSN) I was like, "I have to watch this and listen!!!" And guess what? I DON'T REGRET IT :P

This is absolutely classic. Colin really did make the band what they are today, but I have to say that Nick has carried the torch nicely. I don't think he's as vocally talented as Colin, but he's done his job. This is the only band, that I truly feel has "progressed" throughout the years. Most people use "progress" to cover up the fact a band put out a shitty album, but HTL has gotten better through the years. Through a new lead singer and all. HTL for life. BTW, I love Omar's fro. Haha

I think both singers brought something awesome to the table and both did a good job in their own right. Hit the Lights was, and still is an awesome band, regardless of the singer :]

i absolutely love the new coast to coast ep...i just wish it was colin singing it...but nick does a good job...and plus i know that colin is much happier not being on the road anymore...trust me on this

Not trying to discredit Nick's efforts at all, I think he's got a much higher vocal range than Colin but let's not fool ourselves, Colin is the better singer of the two despite of that. I do agree however, that their new album is a lot catchier and bouncier, I like that a lot and Nick is doing an excellent job at keeping this band alive and writing good music. I hope this band never goes away because they are the best pop punk out there right now.

Regardless who is singing now, hit the lights still kicks more ass than a Bunch of up and coming bands that are on the market now. Colin was good, but its good to see Nick up there since he was the in the original band. And the new guitarist they got who took Nick's spot is good too, so it works. I like the writing style now between the new 5 of them.
Just downloaded Coast to Coast, I recommend it to you all!

Man, imagine how Nick feels with all of you dickheads complaining about his voice. Colin is gone. That chapter is done. Hit the Lights is doing the best they can to keep bringing you people music without making anymore drastic changes to the band. Granted, Nick isn't as strong a vocalist, but it feels comfortable that it's at least somebody talented from the original band up there as a frontman. His voice has always been in the recordings, just as backup. The new cd sounds great, no doubt about.

Too bad Colin isnt in the band anymore. I really dont understand why he quit? They were starting to get pretty big when he left.For some reason I dont see them staying around for a while. Their latest album does'nt even compare to the first one.Colins voice was just as good live as it was on cd.I havent seen them with Nick yet but for some reason I dont thik his voice will be that good.

it took me a while but i LOVE the new cd now...and i guess whats his face that sings now was sort of in the band before...he did backup stuff for the cd and i guess some guitar stuff live...ive seen htl three times twice with the first singer and once with the new and theyre both very good

Wow, Colin is one of those rare pop punk breed of singers that despite their lack of vocal range is able to deliver the notes on the right pitch and harmonization like on their albums, I wish more singers devoted more energy in sounding this good rather than jump around on stage like morons.
