It amazes me that people are so desensitized to national disasters. I was in 7th grade and my choir class at school was preparing for a musical program where we sang Christian/Patriotical songs. I could not keep my composure as I cried as we practiced. It was only a day before the Space Shuttle Jokes began. All they did was anger me. Pearl Harbor, JFK, the two big ones in Japan and September 11th...THESE ARE NOT JOKES they are terrible days in history whether we were born yet or not.

As I watched this "family video footage" I couldn't help but feel some sorrow for the seven human beings that died so tragically. Strange how the people on the ground didn't even know that the Challenger had exploded until mission control confirmed their worst fears...

@finalfrontier001 No, it was delayed the day before because of an entirely unrelated issue. There was a problem at the pad, and the guy who ran up there to fix it brought a tool with dead batteries. They had to scrub the whole launch because by the time the guy got new batteries and fixed the problem, it was too late. The only problem with the final launch day was that it was too cold and they launched anyway.
