Central station closed on September 2, 1973 along with California and Kostner also on the congress line due to cta budget cuts.

@3062batman Ridiculous - CTA is supposed to serve the neighborhoods but everything is oriented towards Loop bound service. What a joke. I remember when they built the Congress line and tore down the Garfield Park El. They said the Congress Street line would "revitalize" the west side! Yeah, right....

Bus terminal right there at Central and Harrison for the 85 and the 7 WTF would they not re open the station...
