I noticed a lot of teenagers that start vigorous weightlifting during puberty tend to not grow taller..
I know many people will say it's a myth and that weight lifting wont stunt growth but there are so many examples to show that this statement is not true.
Do the growth plates close faster when you gain lots of muscle or what?
God, these guys are from a different brand altogether from the modern bodybuilders. Inflated guts, a complete inability to move becuase their muscles are too damn big... this here is what bodybuilding is supposed to be. Epic song by the way, what is it called?
I wonder what these guys looked like as they aged...bet they stayed fit for as long as they could....I dunno....all that bodybuilding I equate with extreme vanity.....
vanD: is that you at the end? Excellent, bro!!! You've definitely working the Classic Physique Program to its (and your) maximum potential--keep it up!
@1987PANAGIOTIS I've never heard of using them that way. Using the for maintenance is definately better the the guys today. They should learn from the older generations of bodybuilders. Or even go back to the time where bodbuilding meant being as healthy as possible while looking as good as possible, without any supplements of any kind (Think of Sandow, the first bodybuilder).
And I think Nubret probably did have the best abs!
@1987PANAGIOTIS Thought so. By right use, do you mean he used them more like a supplement and didn't practically breath them? Because his body doesn't look gross and distorted like today's bodybuilders who live of roids.
I don't know much about Nubret, but did he do roids? I think lived in a period where many, if not most, bodybuilders took them, so I'm wondering if he did. I know Reeves didn't take them. Yet another reason why he's my favorite bodybuilder.
@oti87 apparantly he was a natural bodybuilder. Are you telling me that mass is unattainable without drugs to enhance your physique? The only thing you will never have is his genetics, which decides his shape among other things.
@nosaj2001 You could also find a lot of that info for free on classicphysiquebuilder.blogspot.com, just scroll down and click for the "steeve reeves" entries on the right.
This is what bodybuilding was all about. It promoted health, self esteem, strength, fitness, and all around well being (spiritual, mental, and physical). I am dumbfounded with the direction it has gone, where it has become a repelant than an attraction. Can anyone say...Dorian Yates?
Damn, Reeves was a stud. His body in his era? Ridiculous. Hell, his body in *this* era and you'd still be hard-pressed to match the aesthetics. I wish modern body building would progress backwards. (Is that considered an oxymoron?)
Serge's physique is one of the golden's age true but i would not say it's classic..you can see some roids already..Steve is one of those who are classic!
well he might own the title classic, because now there are just huge guys with bellies poppin out. Its rare now to see body like his in the bodybuilding industry now.
@mycenean I met serge in 1987 he was 52 back then but he looked awsome. these are the true examples of perfection not like todays freaks who thrive upon countless chemicals.
