  • Superb performance!!! thank you dantitustimshu for sharing your beautiful video.

  • The elegance of Battistini's technique is amazing, but, somehow, the element of sexual danger is missing. He is too much the gentleman.

  • Such a natural delivery of the recitative. No added weight to the voice. Wonderful legato and use of the voice to create character.

  • The gentlemanly manner of Battistini's singing is quite suitable for the character of Don Giovanni, the seducer. (Pinza is less so in his duet with Rethberg.) I recall that the soprano Emilia Corsi is related to the baritone Pini-Corsi, his sister perhaps. Anyhow, this kind of singing makes one long for the good old days and the opportunity of seeing the magical cast of Don Giovanni with artists such as Tietjens, Nilsson, Patti, Mario, and Faure or Battistini. Anyone have a time machine handy?

  • What a precise and immaculate piece of singing, especially from Battistini. The way he floated that F natural at the end of the recitative was spectacular. And his enunciation! I got every--single--word! Boy, do I appreciate that in a singer.
