Pity that Safin couldn't do anything in 2003. He could have potentially won both HC majors (beating Agassi and Roddick respectively would have been tough but not impossible) and he could have had a strong showing at the FO and W.

@Anaconda43VR I definitely agree, but unfortunately he had a pretty serious wrist injury at the start of the year and pulled out from the Aus Open before his 3rd round match (against Schuettler, the Finalist that year) and even though he came back a couple months later, he only played a couple of tournaments and was out for the remainder of the year. He missed three slams that year and the Aus Open (where I think he was one of the big favs.) was pretty much a waste.
