@BulbaBulbaBulbasaur The taillights were brush painted from the inside (reversing lamps on this were a light coating of silver from the outside). PVA wood glue was used to glue to the bodywork.
not to be rude but that is not an 89, the 89 didnt have a spoiler, that would most likely be a 87, but then there wouldnt v-tec. so it would be a 91 perhaps... i like your job though, nice job.... as a proud owner of a 89 crx si, oh yeah
If it were a 1987 would it not be the earlier mark 1 CRX with a ZC1?
I am not being rude either, although I have seen a 1989 in this shape with this spoiler... it was however a totally standard JDM 1.5. I have seen pictures of Japanese Si's with the ZC engine and this spoiler although there was a de-spoilered option and a UKDM style fast back spoiler. The early shape mk2 CRX is far better than the 16iVT or SiR in my humble opinion :D I too have an 88 CRX and I am in the UK.
@miesterman12 Its all good - this model depicts the CRX in JDM form, chances are that the spoiler was an optional extra - the '1989' date came from the box art.
I LOVE my old beat up old '89 CRX. I drive it more than I do my '06 triple black convertible Corvette, my 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Duramax, my 2008 Dodge 1500 Ram, my 2006 Ford Eddie Bauer Expediton SUV or my 2004 Chevy Colorado. Damn I have too many vehicles!!! I WISH Honda would bring back this GREAT little car. I will NEVER sell mine and it's about to be completely restored. The only other car I think I would like as much is the 2011 Toyota Scion iQ model.
Aha I see now :) - I saw a two toned CRX today of this generation at a local service station that had the two toning that was lower in the bodywork... I did the two-toning like that to fit in with the Honda Orthia that I also modelled, which has a similar treatment.
It looks like i'm the only sucka painting my model cars with paint and a paint brush. The finnish is always a bit bumpy and contains different shades. Looks like i need to look into buying some sprays.
I bought the same model and I was pissed that it didnt come with a motor so I cut the rear hatch glass out and put a turbo B16 in the rear with a front mounted intercooler and pipes running beside the doorpanels in-bettween the body.. shits hot man.. Love the JDM models
Good... uploading a video from the show I went to last week, there's quite a few car models on show in it.. but it's only just started uploading.. so it'll be a while yet before it can be viewed.. but I think you may like some of the models on show... :)
My sister had a 91 civic years ago- was like driving a skatebord, because y couldnt see the hood- all y saw was road - that too was a pretty quick lil car - i wanted to buy it off her but she traded it in for a hyundai - bleah!
This is what I love about the japanese branded kits- DETAIL! In my Tamiya Mini, I was amazed at the number of badges they gave. Also the tires felt like real tires!
My AMT camaro(Currently In progress) has a very poor amount of details. Hardly any badges, and the wheels are so fake, the actual car has silver and their chrome in the kit.
Hey thankyou! The gas cap detailing was achieved by blackwashing - black paint mixed with water which I applied with a thin brush, then wiping away the excess with a rag and automotive polish...
I'm keeping the identity of the car under wraps for a while.. but I had to buy the kit when I saw it!! Took me back a few years in time.. :) I like to build 'wild and whacky' things, is all I have to say.. It IS a 'normal' car though, not one of those fancy dragsters or something!! ;) Rob / BasicModelling

Continuing from my last comment, I've seen a Fujimi Civic that I like. Both the SiR III variant and the GLi variant. Would it be worth getting?
EliteVideoGamer 3 years ago
I 100% recommend it - I find the wheels on the Fujimi much stronger than those on a Tamiya or Aoshima...
