People that fight (kill) animals purely for entertainment are missing the 'human' gene! I don't care that it is a tradition. The majority of the world has outgrown this infantile exhibition, grow a conscience.
The level of dressage is incrediable. The movements are prestine and beautiful. THAT I can appreciate. This horse could have a loving home as a campion. However, to find this one horse, they went through a lot of horses. The others were wounded or killed by bulls. I hate to degrade bullfighting but I just don't believe in the bad treatment of such amazing animals, because even if there's a few who really take care of them, there's many who never will.
I understand that these people are just trying to preserve their traditions. However, there should be a line between preserving tradition and perverting the preservation of tradition. There could be many injustices being committed today under the banner of "preserving tradition." America could decide to bring back slavery; or Germany could revive concentration camps. We learned from our past and we should look upon our present with a conscious eye.

Right off,I totally abhor bullfighting,especially the picador's job,shown here-the purpose is to drive spikes into the bull's muscles and therefore to reduce their power,'not to mention causing pain. That being said,the skill of the riders and horses is amazing.

This is the Spanish Culture and I don't have a problem with it, but it would be nice if they figured out a way to still do all these skill-testing challenges with the horses without killing the bull or endangering the horse in such a way.
They could attach a woven raffia 'saddle' to the bull with a bullseye on it, similar to a dart board, and score the rider on how many times he gets a bulls-eye; they could put a smaller one between the bulls horns too. You would then get 'champion' bulls in the same way as they do in rodeos.

I am... undecided on my opinion. Yes, I feel it is wrong to kill any animal cruelly, I agree with sanchitodelranchito. Bullfighting has been an honor and large part of Spanish culture for hundreds of years, just like some people go out into the woods and hunt (not ALWAYS eating the animal) it's a way of life that will never go away for some. So, even though I do think it's amazingly cruel to painfully kill an animal, it would also be wrong to deprive people of their culture.

The horse is a beautiful mover and should be used in shows like dressage, and not being used as a target for the bull. This is cruel. No ones knows what that bull could have done to that horse. That horse could have been seriously injured or even killed. This is why I hate rodeos with bull riding and and bronc riding. All it is is pure animal abuse.

This Andalusian is a WARHORSE in every since. It is no wonder that the Roman cavalry preferred this breed. The skills of this Torero/ Bandillero are of the most elite class. But what makes it all such a magnificent sight is the bull himself! That is no cow. He is 1300 lbs of Iberian killing machine whose bloodlines go back many hundreds of years. What many people don't understand about bullfighting is that the BULL is very much the star of the show as well.
I'm sure the bull understands the honor of being ritually stabbed to death. -_-;; Next time you ask a bull if he feels like having swords shoved in his back, be sure to let me know. I assumed that they didn't get a choice in the matter.
We are spending way too much time arguing over this. I could try to imagine the terrible sensations of what it must be like to be killed in la plaza and develop some pretty strong feelings on it if I wanted. But this horse/rider combo is just amazing. The way that horse moves, you know it;s been training for this for a very long time. very talented. and it listens to it's rider and trusts him completely. Both horse and rider are extremely talented. both are aware of the danger and they both keep their heads on and trust eachother now that is teamwork and trust.

I think most people would agree that spanish bullfighting is a cruel "sport", but the talent of the horse and rider cannot be denied. I personally hate the sport but I admire the talent of the horse! Amazing movement!! It's too bad it isn't being used in some other fashion.
If it makes you feel any better spanish bull fights are more humane than mexican ones. When they kill the bull they give the meat to poor people, but in mexico because of how they kill the bull they can't eat the meat cause it's so tense. So if ur gunna watch bull fighting make sure it's spanish :) That way you know the bull didn't die for no good reason :)

I have NEVER seen a horse side-pass like that in my entire life. That horse is amazing, and the rider is has amazing skills as well. Although I don't like the stabbing of the bull. I guess that's just how they do it up in spain. I've been riding for 8 years now, and have never been able to side pass like that, nor that fast. That's a gifted horse.

I have to disagree with your statement. This horse is incredibly well trained. Nowhere do I see him scared of the bull, If he was he would be trembling and not listening to his rider. He obviously knows what he's doing. Watch the beginning of the video, it shows him doing the side stepping, if he was so scared in that arena he would have never done that. As an equestrian, you should know the bond a human and a horse can have. Stop talking like peta and watch this amazing horse again.

Accidents happen. That man is putting his horse in a completely unnatural situation. If that horse was wild, I doubt you he'd wake up one morning and decide to tease a bull. That is the STUPIDEST thing I have ever seen. Half the time the only reason the horse was moving because he was scared to death. AND, the bull was inches from goring the horse.
yea, the horse is listening to the rider, you can see him responding to the riders cues when the horse does a complete 360, if he was running in fear of the bull, the horse would have not done any 360 like that. The horse is most likely used to bulls from training.
i think most people that are commenting beleive that bulfighting is animal abuse, but are taking that as a given, and then just looking at the horse and rider team--which is amazing. They work together so well, and I, for one, am amazed at what they are able to do.

if the horse was absolutely terrified it would not have performed as its rider commanded. It would not have been giving the rider its full attention, nor would it have appeared so focused.

The horse is a beautiful mover and should be used in shows like dressage, and not being used as a target for the bull. This is cruel. No ones knows what that bull could have done to that horse. That horse could have been seriously injured or even killed. This is why I hate rodeos with bull riding and and bronc riding. All it is is pure animal abuse.

This Andalusian is a WARHORSE in every since. It is no wonder that the Roman cavalry preferred this breed. The skills of this Torero/ Bandillero are of the most elite class. But what makes it all such a magnificent sight is the bull himself! That is no cow. He is 1300 lbs of Iberian killing machine whose bloodlines go back many hundreds of years. What many people don't understand about bullfighting is that the BULL is very much the star of the show as well.

We are spending way too much time arguing over this. I could try to imagine the terrible sensations of what it must be like to be killed in la plaza and develop some pretty strong feelings on it if I wanted. But I choose to direct my compassion and desire top help at human beings. My heart just can't bleed for everything. If this is wrong then it is among the very least of mans transgressions. Ole!

I agree this is a horrible sport, but i've NEVER seen a horse move that like it must be breath taking in person! Its so agile, it moves like a feline at some points this is amazing.

Yes, this is team work, this is talent, they're absolutely amazing. But they'd better be...To often it happens that the horse is hit by the bull, and killed. Or if a horse is wounded, they're gonna stop his training, and get rid of him, 'cause hes not good enough...
I keep saying that this horse is amazing, but poor bull!He doesn't know his life's gonna end up right there...This is not a sport, it's a horrible tradition, cruel and with no other goal but to inflict pain to both horse and bull...

I agree that the sport is cruel.
But this horse/rider combo is just amazing. The way that horse moves, you know it;s been training for this for a very long time. very talented. and it listens to it's rider and trusts him completely. Both horse and rider are extremely talented. both are aware of the danger and they both keep their heads on and trust eachother now that is teamwork and trust.
again killing the bull and putting the horse in danger in the first place soo not cool.

I think most people would agree that spanish bullfighting is a cruel "sport", but the talent of the horse and rider cannot be denied. I personally hate the sport but I admire the talent of the horse! Amazing movement!! It's too bad it isn't being used in some other fashion.

If it makes you feel any better spanish bull fights are more humane than mexican ones. When they kill the bull they give the meat to poor people, but in mexico because of how they kill the bull they can't eat the meat cause it's so tense. So if ur gunna watch bull fighting make sure it's spanish :) That way you know the bull didn't die for no good reason :)

um not to be rude but the rider is clearly stabbing the bull, whom already has (whateveer they are using to stab him) embedded in his shoulders/back.
this is real, and all we saw was just the part with that horse, who knows what happened after.

yeah they will kill the bull at the end of the show (if it helps like i've mentions spanish bull's that are killed are givden to feed poor families >>) and the horse is amazingly talented. This isn't really comparable to rodeo clowns. The point is to put the spears into the bull, i assume to represent hunting then they will bring in bull fighter and then kill the bull by the end,

I have NEVER seen a horse side-pass like that in my entire life. That horse is amazing, and the rider is has amazing skills as well. Although I don't like the stabbing of the bull. I guess that's just how they do it up in spain. I've been riding for 8 years now, and have never been able to side pass like that, nor that fast. That's a gifted horse.

I have to disagree with your statement. This horse is incredibly well trained. Nowhere do I see him scared of the bull, If he was he would be trembling and not listening to his rider. He obviously knows what he's doing. Watch the beginning of the video, it shows him doing the side stepping, if he was so scared in that arena he would have never done that. As an equestrian, you should know the bond a human and a horse can have. Stop talking like peta and watch this amazing horse again.

I have respect for this horse, but there is no need for compassion in my mind. He knows what he's doing, he isn't afraid, and he is able to perform without being injured. Accidents happen. That man is putting his horse in a completely unnatural situation. If that horse was wild, I doubt you he'd wake up one morning and decide to tease a bull. Yes, riding a horse is also putting them in unnatural situations but atleast they aren't at risk of being gored by a bull. How is that you can respect someone but yet not care about them? Obviously you do not apreciate whatever it is that you say this horse is doing. A horse was recently gored and killed in this "sport".

Accidents can happen anywhere at any time. I had a horse trip and fall and break his leg out in the pasture. Things happen. I do not respect the rider, I respect the horse. I do not agree with the sport, but I accept that I alone can do nothing to stop it. I appreciate a horse who has trust in his rider, enough so that he will take him anywhere. People used horses in war, but we don't bash on those people. Please stop making harsh accusations about myself, I have not done so to you.

I think the horse and rider have awesome talent, and all those fast side-passes are quite hard to do (Coming from a equestrian). I've never seen a horse that altheltic besides those warmblood horses. Although I do not approve of the stabbing of the bull. But I guess thats how they do it up in Spain.

As for the bull; as a former world champion professional rodeo bullfighter, my hat is off to him. For you BUNNYHUGGERS, go rescue a herd of these and set em loose on your place. yea, the horse is listening to the rider, you can see him responding to the riders cues when the horse does a complete 360, if he was running in fear of the bull, the horse would have not done any 360 like that. The horse is most likely used to bulls from training.
