  • good approch and detail try it in a PMDG 747-737 or MD-11

  • Beautiful videos.......nicely detailed 'breifings' too...... :)

  • i mean to be doing a video of all the 10 extreme airports but havent got round to i it yet once i get my mac ill do one

  • You should do a video approach for INN, Austria. Pretty fun approach i can assure of that. :-)

  • @FSX404 These videos are so great, you just earned yourself another subscriber. It's good to see another pilot who uses MSFS.

  • @Cerberus957

Thanks, I'm glad you like it, comments like these make it all the time I spent on these videos worth doing it :)

  • Imagine what it was like in PSA182s day. That was a beautiful clear day too.

  • Did you use any addon scenery for this series?

  • Great tutorials! Thanks for taking the time to make and post the videos.

Question for you, I want to try this approach using the default FSX 737-800. I can tune the NAV radios and I see the CRS in the MCP for NAV 1, but I cannot find where to configure the course for NAV2 the 2nd VOR needed to triangulate. Thanks and keep it up; your videos are excellent .

  • @PUA687 Use the RMI

  • Wow. That's so very amazing. Are you a pilot or just fly simulators?

  • @tonyalmanza63

Thanks for thecomment, I've been an actual pilot since 1995, well I started my training in 1995, but I got my license in 1996.

  • @FSX404 im aiming to get my ppl what comes after the ppl is it the instrument pilot? :D

  • @benzipz

PPL is first, after that it really is up to you. For people who want to just fly around for fun, that is all you will ever need. If you want to use your flying as a career, then this is the route recommended:

    PPL

    IFR

    Multi Engine Rating

    CPL

    ATP

  • @FSX404 Damn dude, your good. I can tell your a real life pilot. You know what your doing up there :)

  • I finally tried this approach now that I'm comfortable flying with the default 737-400. Wow talk about getting behind the airplane fast and the the approach too :P You were not joking this one is tough!

  • Thanks! Actually I've learned something new and that's always good to learn new things if you are into aviation!

  • LOL, i tried to make this approach with the default 737 and added the intersections into the GPS track. But i screwed up when i didn't notice that on final approach i gotta hold 640/minimums until visual :p

  • thanks for explaining this so clear. I managed to succeed with a C182 in pretty much the same weather as you had, lol. maybe i'll give it a shot with an airliner and post a video response :)

  • AFTER REEBO VOR I have to do a glide slope?

  • @logstarful

There is no glideslope, after REBOO you descent down to the MDA (640 feet) and do the last part of the descent visually using the PAPI lights.

  • nice approach! localizer approcaches are tough. I wish I could understand it a little bit but I can kinda see the idea of the approach

  • Also, do you know any good free addons for FSX?

  • Do you mind defining some of these terms for newbies like me? What's a Localizer? What's ILS? What's a Glide Slope?

  • @patq911

    1. A localizer is the horizontal position in relation to the runway

    2. ILS - Instrument Landing System, it consists of the localizer and the glide slope

    3. The glide slope is your vertical position in relation to the runway. If you keep your plane on the glide slope, your plane will be guided down in an correct descent rate

  • @gitargud7 fsx404 PM'd me afterwards and told me, thanks anyway.

  • So basically, learn app plates, fly strictly by IFR and when you can switch to visual and use common sense.

I did an ILS landing 2miles visibility at LYBE and failed LOL

    Gotta learn much more.

Nice video and your an awesome pilot. Can't wait for #9. =D

  • @FSX404

True, but being able to hear from you that most planes aren't so decked out tells me that, if I truly want a realistic experience, I should try to fly approaches sans DME, at least once in a while ;-D, thanks for the free flight lessons!!

  • Amazing pilot. Great video!

  • @N756TA

I just got lucky this time, thanks for the comment.

  • @FSX404 Haha, np. Sub and fav.

  • Are you using rudder pedals?

  • YAY!!! MADEIRA!!! cant wait! :) +++

  • Hey Mr404, you are an experienced pilot,.... I got a question.. In your experience, do the vast majority of IFR capable aircraft have a DME? Or asked another way, Are there a lot of aircraft that would have to use the triangulation technique. Every aircraft in MSFS that I have seen with a VOR also has DME..

  • @lowew79

Standard 172's and the earlier 152's came without DME's, and most of the training is done without a DME, actually the only planes I have flown with a DME are the ones with GPS, where the GPS can be used to give you distances.

Some owners add DME's on to their own aircraft, but nowdays most have GPS's.

MSFS planes have a DME just because it is easier for simmers to fly with them, but for a pilot to be fully trained you have to know both.

  • this is getting very good! something to look forward on youtube now! awesome flying!

  • no retard?

  • congratulations nice approach i'll try that, so, you liked the a330-200?

  • nice piloting skills. Loved the video!

  • Very nice - that was a really hard IFR approach particularly flying solo without the FO to set the FMS and call out the way points to you:)

  • @jagara1

Co-pilots and FO's are very helpful, they reduce the workload tremendously. The autopilot can be used in a same way if a pilot is alone and the workload is heavy. But in reality a pilot needs to be able to do everything him/herself.

  • @FSX404 Yes - I wrote a piece of software for myself (called First Officer it's out there free for those who want a copy) to do exactly that.

I was so fed up with having to remember all the keys that I wrote a voice recognition program that would carry out my commands and confirm them in speech to me.

So when I fly FSX/FS9 nowadays all I have to control is the stick, throttle, rudder and brakes - everything else is controlled by my speech commands - lazy eh ;)

  • Learned alot from your videos, flying is much more fun, thanks to you :)

  • wow I love these

  • Very useful video(s) again, thank you. Keep 'em coming, please.

  • Nice work. Thanks! Looking forward to the rest of this series.

  • Good tutorial. You know your stuff!
