I loved the song, CBC TV special, decades ago with Roger, and Catherine MacKinnon. Spectacular...better than his solo. I love the montage. It ties my familys' past, present and future. Northern Ontario, Cape Breton, Mainland Nova Scotia, and...Medicine Hat AB. Very cool.  I live in Nova Scotia! SO PROUD TO BE CANADIAN too :)

Sorry @RainAngel111 - you're right about BC...I live there and have travelled everywhere...from Tofino, to Golden, from Dease Lake to Osoyoos, and hundreds of places in between. The purpose of this family trip was to experience the rest of our great country and that's perhaps why BC seems ignored in the video...but it's certainly not ignored in my heart :-)

We are much more, there is much to discover........... go to Nova Scotia and the Bay of Fundy, explore the beautiful scenery of Newfoundland & Labrador.  Make your discovery more exciting in the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut........... there is so much more. 90% of our population resides within 100 miles of the US border across Canada....10% above........

@paulinotou Canada comes from a native word Kanata which means 'the village'. The title is perfect the way it is, as we simply are. Not as like some noisy neighbours (yes i spelled it right) we may  have to the south.

I was too young to remember firsthand, but I was told years later that Roger Whittaker sang this song at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. Can anyone confirm this, and was it the opening or closing ceremonies?

We also sang this in school in Toronto (Lescon Public School) in the 70s! I have remembered the tune and the main chorus for years and had to ask 'Yahoo Answers' what the title of the song was. Thankfully, a member answered and here I am listening to it!
