  • Kari Michaelsen is still hot.

  • i got the entire series on dvd

  • I like this theme song.

  • I loved the 80's

  • I had the hots for the oldest one. She gave me my first tent pole.

  • Does anyone have the episode where Joey Lawrence is in blackface and Nell Carter yells at him, "You might as well say Nigger"?

  • @castingtherunes Yeah Brieannas21 has it. It's called Baby of the family.

  • Yeeeeeaaa! This intro has some soul!

  • want to bang the oldest and youngest daughter on the show.

  • @spacepenny

It is quite interesting for me to read this. Although I liked them all, my favorite was always Julie who was the middle girl! I looked at her as the model of decency! On top of that, I thought that she was a real number in her designer boots! Oh baby!

  • I always thought Lara Jill Miller was cute and had a sweet voice. Then she moved on to voice cartoon characters like Kary in Digimon.

  • @aztekarrow I had a crush on Lara Jill

    .

    Sweet

    .

  • I remember this. Can't believe I am already in my 30's now SHEESH!

  • @G2340mm I'm 37, and remember this. Looking at the older and newer (relatively speaking) episodes, we can see how Samantha developed into an attractive lady, compared to her tomboy days when younger.

  • Wow a blast from the past... How cool is this

  • Kari Michaelsen was simply cute back then......................now she looks HOT! (Saw her on a recent Biography show about Andy Gibb).

BTW, I may be in the minority here, but I thought Lara Jill Miller was the cutest of the three gals.

  • @lurch321 I think Kari was the most "classic hot beauty," what with her blonde hair and those classic traits. But, Lara Jill Miller has a few things that can really grab your attention more and make you take notice: the smile, the bubbliness, and I think she has more spunk (at least Samantha seemed to have more spunk than Katie). As for the show characters, Samantha was a little more "sleazy" than Katie (remember Johnny from Karate Kid leaving her in Mexico)?

  • @abysmalatrocious Totally agree with your comments..............and yes, I remember that episode............Sam was abandoned on a beach, if I remember correctly.

  • What season was Keifer Sutherland on this show? He played the boyfriend of one of Chief's daughters. Or so I was told anyway.

  • God damn how many 80s sitcoms Telma Hopkins was on?

  • @KingDT2007 All of them *lol*

I remember seeing her on Fantasy Island, Love boat, Gimme a break, Gimme a break (later on), AMEN,Family Matters.. etc etc...

    Shes getting work ;)

  • Whoa !

  • Joey Lawrence must die

  • oh he will....he will

  • I like those big glasses of Julie's, and Sam does look attractive in the intro.

  • SHE DID A COMCAST CABLE COMMERICAL LAST YEAR,..........NATIONAL WIDE....She was cool but you know COMCAST.

  • Loved this show!! I remember it when I was a little girl! Loved Nell! RIP

  • Isn't that a little politcally incorrect to have a sitcom in the 80's with a white family having a black maid?

  • Did you ever watch the series?

  • @klwewf I watched it along time ago it was ok. Very cleeshay: #1 black maid with white family #2 single widowed father #3 the help having sarcastic wit. These are things that have been done so many times...over and over again.

  • Yeah.

  • @gtz1975 So make with the examples.

  • Jeffersons~ Jack Benny Program~Mr Belvedere~Jetsons~Full House~Brady Bunch~AndyGriffith Show~The Riffleman~Hogan Family~

  • Samantha looks 100% attractive in her aqua blue dress in this intro.

  • i really liked this show when joey lawrence came into the picture he and nell had such great chemistry!!he was so cute then and hot now!! way 2 go joey!! does any one know where i could find the second part of the joey episode i want 2 see what happens when nell makes him a permanent household member

  • this was a great show and the daughters were hot!

  • not as hot as Neil!

  • GIVE ME A CAKE

  • what a voice!

  • I'm as 80's as they come, but I know tv generally stinks now and it generally stank then. We all watched what we watched because that's all there was. Those without cable or before cable had a very small band of tv choice. Ahhh, UHF and VHF. Anyway nostalgia colors all things a finer shade. Try sitting through 5 episodes of any sitcom out of the 80's and see.

  • Go outside and flog thyself now! You must NEVER speak ill again of 80s programming!! Shame on you!

  • @chemistryguy Im kind of so so to the last statement but I DO agree with you on being as 80's as they come.. I grew up in the 70-80s and was like 10-12 when these shows were in full swing. Yes.. they were the only thigns on TV if you didnt have cable(I was one of those unfortunate individuals who never grew up with cable) so I did watch a LOT of 80's shows. There are really good ones out there though!.. (yes we had our crappy ones too)

    God Bless :)

  • Nobody makes T.V shows like this anymore.

  • AAAAAAH! I watched a movie with Dolph Sweet last night (Sisters) and was reminded to look up the intro to this show. The music seemed so normal when I was a kid; now it's so awesomely dated. :D

  • I really miss this show! TV used to be good. I don't know what to say about it now. I feel for this generation.

  • R.I.P. to all the cast. Nell Carter, Howard Morton, John Hoyt, Dolph Sweet, all have passed on since this show. I am a product of the 70's and 80's and i miss t.v. the way it used to be.

  • Amen to that brother. This was t.v. the way it was supposed to be; not this garbage that they are running now.

  • right on!

  • Stupid?

  • I agree with you hun.. I grew up in the 70-80's and I totally agree with you on that.. T.V. Shows arent what they used to be. RIP Nell Carter, Howard Morton, John Hoyt, Dolph Sweet :(

All the remaining cast members are still alive. Thelma Hopkins,. The 3 Daughters(Lara Jo Miller,Kari Michaelson,Lauri Hendler) and Joey lawrence

  • @Mahlercougar YOU FORGET MATTHEW LAWRANCE TOO!!!

  • I totally agree with you. There was a time when there were actually theme songs and they were really GOOD ones. Now there are none and that 's a shame.

  • @guesswho21900 i loved 70's and 80's tv. i still get all melancholy when i hear these themes.

  • @guesswho21900 I'm pretty sure LJM (Sam) isn't dead yet.

  • It broke my heart when Chief Kanisky died. I was a young child when this show was on, and the only other character that I had ever seen killed off was James Evans on Good Times. Now I feel really bad. I didn't know that he had actually died then in real life. I figured he was probably dead now, but then I thought maybe it was contract disputes or something.

  • I remember that episode where Nell sang a hymn for his service...OMG....it was one of the most moving scenes I've ever seen...and it was a real tribute to her costar...

    Is that episode posted anywhere?

  • i think i semi remember watching this, the intro and the people all seem familiar.

  • best intro and best show R.I.P.Nell Carter!

  • Same to Dolph Sweet who passed away around the 4th season. Nell Carter was by his side when he died in the hospital and delivered his oulogy at his funeral.

  • messed up!

  • I don't know why when I was a child I had a huge crush on Samantha even though she was a tomboy. Everyone else talked about Katie, but I was in love with Sam.

  • This is a very dumb comment you idiot.

  • Me too like you would`nt believe.

  • @oldschooldogy Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah. I didn't even know LJM did this show until a decade ago. The casting directors at Digimon probably saw a few episodes of GAB before casting Lara.

  • @oldschooldogy Katie had the classic beauty qualities like the blonde hair, but Samantha has some traits that can grab your attention: smile, laugh, bubble, and spunk. I think that Samantha became the spunkiest of the daughters (and got taken advantage of by guys like Johnny on Karate Kid, who left her in Mexico that episode, and Nell had to go get her).

  • My favourite show of the 80's pure classic.

  • omg! whenever she is scared or angry, her eyes just pop open all the way!! that just makes me laugh my ass off!!

  • Oh this is so weird! Those girls look so young now, they seemed so old to me back in the day...

  • look, it's joey lawrence back when he was cute and had hair! he's sure gone downhill...

  • Oh man. I listen to that great song and I'm back in 1984. So many great memories. I hate 2008.

  • I so agree, where has the time gone? This song gives me the chills, eighties were the best....

  • The beginning of the 4th season (1984-1985) This theme is the best throughout the whole series.

  • this theme song is so eighties, love it lol!!

  • It was a good show, I always remember the episode when Nell and Telma getting trapped in some elevators and Nell is panicking and saying all the things she'll miss in life and yells "Now we'll never know who wins the Iran-Iraq war!" for some reason I always thought that was the funniest line. The other ep. I remember was one of those "very special" ones about race where Sam is mad at Nell and calls her a...well you know. 0_o

  • chirstgod who dug up this. I just remember the intro. Incredible. What the fuck was this show about anyway, i think i was too young to understand it

  • The show was about a housekeeper (Nell Carter) who worked for a widow father (Dolph Sweet) and his three daugheters (Kari Michaelsen, Lauri Hendler, Lara Jill Miller).

  • She had been friends with the mother, who was dying with cancer and had asked Nell to take care of her family.

  • NBC loved the dying mother/take care of my kids angle lol. Diff'rent Strokes, Gimme A Break, Punky Brewster. LOL...well maybe not so much Punky

  • then abc took over with full house.

  • I loved this sitcom as child growing up in the eighties. God bless Sister Nell Carter's spirit.

  • I noticed that they were live the day of the show because at the begining of the show Nell said ''Live from Hollywood Gimme A Break''

  • This episode aired on March 2, 1985, and yes, it was live.

  • @thirtymphs I remember that live episode well because I taped on VHS when that aired. I'm still upset that I taped over that a long time ago because it had episodes of Diffrent Strokes, Double Trouble & It's Your Move on the same tape. Dammit I wish could've have kept those on tape.

  • I love this show I have every episode

  • hmm. maybe that is why your account is suspended-lol- good luck:)

  • Looks like Nell dropped a few pounds. Thanks for posting.

  • She does look thin look up the promos for this show you will see her almost thin
