I read the book From Where the Sun Now Stands I Will Fight No More Forever many years ago. It detailed Joseph's run across seven states to save his people from the US army and confinement to a reservation. Joseph was and is the picture of honor, courage and commitment that we rarely see today.
@ancestralblue One of two things is mistaken...It was not seven states. The Nez Perce Historic Trail goes from Oregon, to Idaho, into Montana, down to Wyoming, and then north into Montana again, where it ended. Read another book, to clear up any misconceptions you may have.
