  • SOMEONE GET THIS GUY INTO THE UFC

  • There's no way this guy didn't use weights in training... those legs are massive.

  • Estoy 100% seguro que este monje shaolin le gana a cualquier peliador de la UFC

  • mit dem möcht ich kein 1on1 :D

  • after this video i starting to believe that shaolin is prediciser of all asian kick boxing martial arts ...

  • well shaolin cant be isolated to just kicking puching chinese marltial arts started mostly with grappling (hence horse stance) techniuqes such as push, pull, throw, and lock. tehy started develpoe striking later on (all these changes happned over time before estalishment of temple) and thee logical was to also develope strong leggs since its impossible to unbalance opponent with just upper body(in wester westling u lift with leggs as well)

  • Who is the guy??

  • Has he done any wights ? he looks biff.

    Sifu// M.

  • not that buff if his head is shaved that means hes still adhering to vegitarian rules does it not. so may be some other calistenci strength building

  • @kaindrg well not necessarily Shaolin monks are not required to be vegetarian though they can chose to be i know because i study with Sifu fannes who is a Shaoln monk himself and his as to the questian belowi don`t think they do weights but they do a lot of martial arts and chi gong and some other more baisic exorcises

  • GAWD what i wouldnt give to be his student...

  • he seems to be young. isnt it?

  • awesome, hes like a machine.

  • who?

  • All the monks respect each other and teach their students respect.

It doesn't seem as if your sifu is authentic if you are representative of his students.

  • i've been training with him for a year now hes a great teacher and a even better friend.

and yeah hes built like a brick house plus you should see his condtioning on his shin bones they look crazy

  • he is good .

  • 1:49, look at what's surrounding him. Was that was I thought it was?

  • You're right I saw it too, was it Qi?

  • omg....look at his muscle. i can tell he can knock out a person only using one hit

  • he is hella big.

  • Shifu Yan Lei is the real deal. The techniques shown in this trailer are specifically for Sanshou/freefighting. if you want to see him demonstrating traditional stuff check ou his RuoQuan and Chi Gung vid's... orbetter still go train with him - he is awesome.

  • agree 100 % thanx brother. ill look into it

  • remember shaolin train to fight animals like tigers and stuff, they dont just train to fight humans.

  • little of it look like sanda style =o

  • I'm sure MOVE32 doesn't know too much about the shaolin. They are fighting monks! I suggest you do some research and find out the history on the Shaolin Monks. Then you'll be educated enough to make a comment on a very anicent MARTIAL that's right MARTIAL ART!

  • monk they dont fight !!even u kick him or punch him .real!

  • someone told me that also . then why do they even learn?

  • He is in great shape, but I would like him to really fight some MMA match.

  • so u made the DVD?

  • HAHAHAHA. :} nice.

  • TBH he seems like a San Da athlete with a bald head.

  • why does he start throwing western boxing and Thai style kicks in there? I'm confused

  • ? so throwing a jab is a western boxing move or a simple roundhouse kick is muay thai? so if he throws a elbow or knee is it karate muay thai krav maga pankration kalari or is it simply striking?

  • it wasn't so much that he was throwing a lead-hand punch, it was that he was executing the techniques the way Western boxers and MMA fighters do when they practice, which I found perplexing

  • Yeah, I see what you are saying. He doesn't really seem like a Shaolin Stylist. He looks like a US free form fighter in this clip. His muscles also look like they are from weight lifting, not Shaolin gong fu. Not dissing him, just questioning his title of Shaolin monk.

  • I'm sure he could scrap, but if he does have a grasp of traditional gung fu technique he wasn't displaying it. It looks like other 'sanda' or 'sanshou' clips I've seen where they train traditional forms, but their applications look little different from other schools of kick-boxing

  • This good, what we are seeing now is the next step of Martial Arts, it has evolved to the point where we are fusing ancient practices with latest knwoledge of fighting.

  • there is a way of accomplishing that, and it has been going on for millenia, but the problem here is that it's being combined with modern methods designed for sport fighting, not true self-defense. On the other hand, there are systems like Krav Maga and Systema which fuse unrestricted combat methods from various traditional systems

  • Very good point, a lot of moves/techniques are not allowed in the sporting arena and as a Martial Artist, one would need to know how to both use and also defend against such situations. I think Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do and Kajukenbo tries to do that as well as Krav and Systema.

  • haven't seen much Jeet Kune Do in person (only read about it), but my Mantis instructor also teaches Kajukenbo and I got to sit in on one of his classes yesterday=)

  • Nice, always grow and learn, never stop. Dan Insanto is Bruce's best friend and is currently the leading authority in Jeet Kune Do. He's researched into many disciplines and has black belt ranking and mastery over many different Martial Arts. He is a good person to look into.

  • Because he takes in what works and rejects what is not and I wouldn't really say the kicks are Thai style, many combat ring sport have kicks that look like that such as Sanda, French Savate, Kickboxing and Cambodian Bokator.

  • now granted most of my training in kung fu has been southern, not northern Shaolin, but from what I've seen most of their kicks are 'piercing' or 'thrusting' in nature, not roundhouse kicks like those found in so many other arts

  • good bady

  • he is awesome!!!!!!!

  • gr8

  • anyone knows where can i find this dvd ?

  • he is in great shape

  • baojian-

he was never a monk, but a secular disciple. and i think his technique just looks like chinese sanda.

    soka-

if you want to be technical, sanda is not shaolin. so none of that was "pure shaolin".

  • On his DVD he explains that after his first battle he started to train Sanda, because the shaolin style didn't work well enough in a battle.

  • I think you are correct.

  • This is ShiYanLei a 34th gen shaolin monk., he is awesome. Although I heard that he left shaolin and trained in Muay Thai in Thailand for some time. That's probably why his technique looks a bit different.

  • This guy has an amazingly clean technique. A true example for everyone. Although I doubt a little that these techniques are pure Shaolin. But anyway... does it really matter where it originates from when someone has such a perfect technique :)

  • exelent!! one profesional

  • Beautiful to watch

  • Man I can't look at this stuff! it makes me so mad! that i'm not him. I cant explain it , but it sucks when you know you let so much of your potential escape your soul and your body. I dont know what to do. But i really love the editing it was great to watch.

  • Then go do something about it... be the best you can!

  • I totally agree SchenkPP. Stop the whining OXX and go be the best you can be. Don't compare yourself to others, try to beat yourself every time. Sure let others inspire you but be the best YOU can be and stop the whining

  • He looks like a wushu sanshou fighter

  • Great Shape, great technique.

  • this is real technique real jing
