no the gun wouldn't have brought down the chopper that quickly, the pilot may have had to land it and take a look at it esp. hydraulic related, and all fuel tanks are crash resistant and would have leaked maybe but not blown up with one shot. I am a FAA rated mechanic with 16 years experience.
This is one of the best scenes in the movie. The score from Mark Isham plays great in this scene but is slightly different from what is on the CD soundtrack.
I just love those american cars which have 150kph on the speedometer...but never make more than 75kph hahahahahahahahahahaahh
