  • Very good writing in this style.

  • I really enjoy this a lot!

  • i never really appreciate expressionistic music..

  • @hoiningt I would generally agree with you. This was simply an experiment for a piece of coursework I had to complete. In general I can't stand the works of Webern etc, but there are some good areas in this field. I personally don't write like this, I tend to map out structures and have complete control of the outcome.

    Many thanks for listening :)

  • @HelenWhitcher1 isn't mapping out structures and having complete control of the outcome the definition of serialism?

  • @schoenbergian many thanks, it was an interesting experiment for me to loose all sense of emotive input, but I did enjoy not having to think about the construction so much. A great way to generate material :)

  • @HelenWhitcher1 LOSE NOT LOOSE

  • @WigglesThePirate thanks, I am known for my terrible spelling >.< I can assure you I'm much better than I used to be x

  • that was very creative. nice

  • @iorixs many thanks :) x

  • You created the system that you used to serialize it though right? That means you do have control in a way....

  • @zhale1988 Yes you're absolutely right. I decided in a note order but had complete control over octave, note length and all other compositional aspects. I find this method less rewardng than creating my own passages an then enforcing a rule upon them. but you are completely right, I do have control.

  • I'm not normally a serialist composer. Tthis was simply a little homework from a 'language of music' lesson and by no means represents me as a composer.

I'm more into patterns of a more structured quality. Some more of my more current work should be coming soon.

Thanks for your comments. I share your opinion that it gets very boring very quickly. I don't actually believe you can truly say you've composed something that has come of chance. I like to have complete controll over my work.

  • Good. You might lose interest having to keep it going much longer...intervals weren't fantastic. I always reckon that half of the work is done with serialism before you out pen to paper and write the composition. Good work though. Is this your first time composing with serialism?

  • I really enjoy this piece. It has a rich lyrical quality, some great contrasts, a strong sense of flow, and dramatic harmonies. I'm reminded of some of Ruggle's pieces, such as his counterpoint in extreme registers. Thank you for posting this. I will subscribe.
