You're totally right about that. And it being on Youtube and lots of other places shows that they were right for being scared. They took it down and look at the heat they're getting. Power to the people! Yea!
@sidefexer You don't know what the fuck you're talking about! This show is not about pop art its about GRAFFITI
and fucking shit up. Street culture has nothing to do with 'ART" FUCK art! The people shown in this exhibit were/are just kids who didn't want to be tied down.
disgraceful, barbaric, retarded, insulting and shameful by everyone and anyone who was involved in this removal of something the world wants, craves and needs.
@peace6311 That's a pretty bad assumption on your part, Peace. I know exactly what it means and I still don't like it. The message is fine and I agree with what it's saying. However, the execution is poor and has the intellectual equivalent of 6th grade poetry. I'm a big supporter of street art and this is just bad street art. And
well street art is kind of SUPPOSED to be ephemeral isn't it? don't see the big deal. graffiti gets painted over all the time. it comes and it goes like the tide...
The only reason this mural was brought to my attention was because it was whitewashed. I'd consider this a win for the artist and his message, even though it seems like a loss in the short term. The buff actually helped a lot of people see this that otherwise wouldn't have. Interesting how that works.
War and money and what veteran of any war doesn't already know this? What an excuse to destroy a message too powerful for the corporate ruined MOCA. Indeed you talk to any veteran not too haunted by what he was made to see and do and not that ass hole war monger who wrote earlier and you will hear war is for profit period.
Buddha says,"compassion." Why complain about a whitewashed wall, when the mural could be offensive to those veterans who use those nearby medical facilities? Leaving the mural brings more pain; its removal could never hide the truth. Things seem grim now, but there is no doubt that we are living seconds before sunrise. "Be not too hard, for life is short." Visit a wounded vet; what they did they did for US; not an American Empire. If their deeds were evil, your compassion will balance them. pax

Its ironic that because of the attempt to censor this anti war message, way more people will actually view this piece. In fact the censorship is a great metaphor for the now defunct law banning the media coverage of soldiers bodies returning from war.
some of blu's work is pretty cool, and i guess the message is pretty good in this mural, but at the same time this mural looked sorry as fuck, looks like it was made by children. its sad what people consider talent now a days
Maybe you can paint it and make it "good looking" you ass. We're all sure we've seen your paintings on the sides of buildings...no...wait...you haven't...
Modern art. Reflects society. Ain't it true? Reminds me of famous mexican muralist Rivera's work in Rockefeller Center (NYC) in 1930's. It was removed because it offended capitalist Rockefeller.
I don't see a problem. MOCA is sort of like a cool shopping mall with dj's and cheap drinks and you can take cel phone pics, you know, with the finger poses, in front of these big pictures that sort of look...I don't know. It's not appropriate to get into that messy stuff, like two unending wars, and poor soldiers used as death fuel
Anybody know the name of that petit bourgeois bloodsucker who moved from NY to ruin LA art? Guess he's just getting going!
This is idiotic thinking... You have the mural, speaking a message from the people. You censor it and now shitty toys are going to tag it up and claim turf, causing violence and the complete opposite of what they want.
