He is one of those people who think they can change the world when they have no experience running ANYTHING. They are just all complex ideas put forth by "angels, messiahs, do-gooders" and most are failed. Instead of promoting freedom, we are supposed to believe that as long as we elect "good, competent, value oriented leaders" we can do good things with other peoples money. Under capitalism, values don't matter, the fact that you may only profit by serving your fellow man is whats important.
@ineptsegue You humor me. I urge you, watch that short video if you haven't already. It explains the nature of the state very well. Creating a free society is not as easy as getting rid of laws, any more than having a limited government is a s easy as having a constitution. No, we've gotten rid of laws before, and we have never been a completely 100% free society, neither as a country nor within the human race. That would require us to do something that has not been done before.
What kind of profit motive? Like the motive of governments, who are motivated by force and power, or the motives of free people, unhindered by the laws of those who are? Are the poor hurt by the profit motive, or is it the government that regulates the labor industry, taxing their employers and giving them faux education hurting them instead? If there were no government, would the poor be wage-enslaved by evil corporations, or would the poor be liberated from Gov education, wasteful welfare...
So governments take good care of disadvantaged people? Companies that use resorces look way into the future if they didnt all the oil would already be long gone. Your just spouting nonsense. Check out Walter Blocks videos on capitalism and the enviroment.
No one is saying that governments have done a good job of taking care of the disadvantaged. However, private interests clearly don't either, and we certainly can design systems that do.
Also, I think it's pretty obvious that oil companies are taking and using the oil pretty much as fast as they can sell it, and that they aren't thinking about the long term political and environmental consequences of doing so.
