I could name you 100 hispanic guys that dig ditches in 99 degree weather with 85% humidity no shield from the sun and all for $8 an hour. Hope it never gets to the spanish channels.

I have always liked watching Deadliest Catch. Phil is such a cool person and he will be missed. The type person that makes you feel like he is a family member after watching many episodes. There is a spirit about him that would never die and the way I see it he still fishes the sea right next to the ones he loves. Maybe you can't see him but he is there in spirit. A legion that lives on forever.

@FyreMage35 I happen to agree with you Josh has matured more than Jake by virtue of being the # 1 son and there are expectations of him for just being born first. I beleive Josh realizes this. Jake is younger and has a boatload of problems however both are still young men, now forced to grow up because Phil, their security, is gone. I've been there but with the proper guidance they will both do fine PLUS Phil provided a great role model for his sons in his work ethic and overall character.

This is a great clip - it showed how much stress and pressure Capt Phil was under - I remember a lot of stuff going wrong for him with the boat - the engines blew quite often for him. Jake and Phil's relationship reminds me of me and my Dad - I was always trying to push my luck too! sadly my Dad died young too at 49 - I can imagine the boys won't be right for some time - but they will take heart from seeing how much he is loved around the world. Willard (Natalies'Dad) was much like Phil he spoke his mind had a rare sense of humor and was monsterous on achievement. A void like that never is refilled It is sad to see him go so young. Phil is awesome! He keeps buisiness and family matters seperated. He just tells it like it is, and that is why this boat is so successsful year after year!

from working on these boats before i know a secret not these fishermen i do not know any of them on deadliest catch but cocaine plays a big part in how they pull these long shifts off i never did but there are more then a few who do.
This is what reality TV should be. These guys are actually working, not preening for the cameras. You wanna root for these guys. I especially like Phil and his family. They seem like good people. Americans at their best.

One thing I have noticed is that Phil and many other cast members on the show have an accent. I love this show!

They're all from the Pacific Northwest. The accents out west tend to drawl and don't have a twang or a nasal quality to it. Some people have said that people out west don't have accents, but you're right - they do.

Yea they definitely do, just listen to the way Phil says boat. I really cant understand when people say that we dont have accents! Everyone has one, if you are talking to an Australian or African you have an accent, no question!

from working on these boats before i know a secret not these fishermen i do not know any of them on deadliest catch but cocaine plays a big part in how they pull these long shifts off i never did but there are more then a few who do.

This is what reality TV should be. These guys are actually working, not preening for the cameras. You wanna root for these guys. I especially like Phil and his family. They seem like good people. Americans at their best.
